Also 5:08 the difference between Fullmetal Alchemist and Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood is mainly the story.
The original Fullmetal alchemist anime caught up to the manga during its production, and thus had to go its own direction after running out of source material. As such, the story goes into a very different direction at a point from the source material and leads to a completely original ending.
Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood was released after the manga had finished, allowing it to faithfully follow the source material, giving the true ending as intended by the mangaka Arakawa Hiromu
Additionally, there are many differences in style. The original Fullmetal Alchemist's art style was significantly sharper and more angular than the manga, giving it a sharper feeling.
Meanwhile, Brotherhood followed the manga's style faithfully, with its much more rounded character designs.
The soundtrack is also notably different. The origínal's soundtrack, even in its most intense moments felt grounded, as the creator of the soundtrack viewed Fullmetal Alchemist as a grounded story with fantastical elements, deciding to focus on the everyday life of two young teens and their emotions.
Meanwhile, the creator of the Brotherhood soundtrack intentionally didn't watch the original anime, wanting to be uninfluenced by its music, thus leading to a soundtrack that is much more fantastical, focusing on the powerful feeling of the almost magical elements of the world, rather than the mundane parts that the original soundtrack focused on.
Overall, both anime are good.
However, Fullmetal Alchemist is an Adaptation to its truest meaning. A story retold with a different tone and ending.
Meanwhile, Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood is in homage and paying respect to the source material, staying true to it as much as possible.
