One of the greatest 1B ever. Very underrated for a Hall of Famer. Go look at his numbers, he stayed on the field, consistently averaged 100 RBI, 100 Runs, 30 HR, 30 Doubles. He was awesome
Bagwell is my all time favorite player. Absolute joy growing up watching him. Imagine his numbers if he never played in the Astrodome. Rare combination of speed, power, and defense. Rightfully earned his Hof induction.
@@edenvillanueva3297 he was my favorite too but he pulled a dick move on me and dad at a game..Biggie stepped in and signed my ball and became a new favorite of mine

I never knew he was brokenhearted about being traded to Houston, we are all glad he learned to love it. I grew up seeing that batting stance so it always looked normal, seeing it again after all these years it looks so weird lol.
That is a very very very astute observation. When you think about, he likely is. Who else could be more underrated? Stan Musial is probably underrated, but everyone still knows that he was great. Rickey Henderson I dare say is underrated, for how famous he is. Joe Gordon? Gil McDougald (sp?)? Gary Carter? Bill Freehan? Richie Ashburn? Those guys are all underrated IMHO, but I agree with you that Jeff Bagwell is the MOST underrated (I'm a big Bill Freehan fan, so I'm putting him second!)
@@wabbittwacks3173 Ricky Henderson isn't underated, he just isn't spoken of, as well as the Oakland As team from that era. Great team with Canseco, McGwire, Henderson, Ek, and I think Dave Stewart. My fav As team. Bagwell was a line drive hitter, but when he lowered his stance and added all that power to his swing, it was incredible to see him knock balls out of the park
Def one of my favorite players of the 90s-00s alongside Craig Biggio. Notable mentions: Lance Berkman, Roy Oswalt, Brad Ausmus, and the Rocket, Roger Clemens.
What a legend. My all-time favorite player. Contact & power, defense & speed. The leader of the killer bees era. I miss the dome, but it’s less about the dome itself and more about seeing Biggio and Bagwell dominate opposing teams.
Bagwell didn't get the "Steriod body". He was a strong wide bodied player when he got there. Not saying he didn't partake but he just looked like if he worked out regularly his body would put on muscle naturally. And what has been said from former player's is Bagwell was just a natural.
Prime Bagwell was amazing. Could hit for power and average. Walked a ton. Good defense and baserunning. As an Astros fan it was sad to see his production drop off so much by 2005. His shoulder was completely fucked by then and he was relegated to pinch hitter in the World Series. Unfortunately he stunk during playoffs his entire career. He and Biggio way underperformed. Astros got bounced by inferior teams in the playoffs because of it.
It's hard to have elite playoff numbers against the 3 headed monster that Atlanta had every year. Maddux, Glavine, and Smoltz were a tough trio to try to go up against every single year... Biggio hit well in '04 and over .300 in the '05 playoffs.
Bagwell is a legend. But with all due respect, how does that stance not hurt..the scrotum region when swinging, especially for the fences...is better and beyond me.
The biggest thing I remember about him wasn't on field. Biggio almost left, Bags said re do my deal keep him here. And it happened cause he wanted his brother and took less money. That's a man! ...... in my opinion.

One of the poster boys/ring leaders along with teammate Ken Caminiti for PEDs. I know he never tested positive but many of his contemporaries including Frank Thomas outed him. He brought PEDs to Houston and got Biggio, Hidalgo, Everett, Howell, and Alou on his gas hook-up and they still couldn't win.
