Nah, streaming is dreaming so how do they plan on actually getting folks to BUY the music again? That's a huuuuuge problem that most artists face. Nobody has the answer because today's consumers are accustomed to free music. Actually buying music would legit solve the problem. Let's face it. If you can get it for free, you gon get it for free. Straight like that. I'm a '90s kid so I had the experience of going to a record store, buying the LP and establishing a physical attachment to the physical product. And lastly, what are labels gonna do about the recycled, microwave "music" that they keep plaguing the airwaves with? That should be squeezed into this equation as well because if the music sucks ass, that's gon be a problem whenever the artist gets ready to do shows.
I understand why some artist are quick to sign and escape the struggle they're in but being a creative is a true test in patience in a society that needs artists but doesn't respect us. I rather come up super slow than get rich and popular fast through a fcked label contract.

You state you are . "The voice of truth in the digital age of the music industry." if so then you must reference all sources to backup your discussion Just becasue you say just becasue you put it on the internet does not mean its true. I operate transparently even to the point all artist will soon access complete royalty statement form distribution and see the breakdown of each royalty payment and bank their receipts when they want. No matter how digital the music industry gets label still have and will have important roles to play, and there will be artists who are better off not being on a label. Freedom to choose is how it should be which is why I and many other labels offer single sing. ep/ album contracts leaving artists free to release their next drop themselves or through another label. My splits are 40% label 60% artist/s. Includes a lot of free stuff including mentoring. I am getting tired of all this talk about 'evil labels' Yeah sure there are labels lke that out there but its mainly the large ones or smaller labels owned by the larger labels. Thanks for reading.
So if this is the configuration of the industry, then how is one able to release a free album under contract, such as Travis Scott with his first two mixtapes?
Depends on the deal - not every record deal is the same + trav was with an indie label in a mixtape era so it’s not that crazy . You can put out music free anywhere, just can’t monetize
If anyone’s doing that, it means they own the master and not the label. Probably a case by case situation with songs the label wouldn’t want or hasn’t signed.
This whole "industry dark secrets exposed" vibe is ridiculous. Also, the label wants the artist to succeed. After all, they have invested on the artist.

Its your choice. Now if you are the type of person who pisses his/her money away, go work at BK or Walmart and stay away from the contracts. JMO
Why not just send all your music to someone who wants to release your music or send it to a friend and have them say its a "sample audio" or some random shit and having all the music you want out there and all the music the lable wants out there
These videos come out every month and say the same thing 😂 dunning kruger effect I swear. this is common knowledge at this point 100% labels have already adjusted the standard contract. So they don't make any money because they have record labels but they live in mansions? This video is ridiculous. Obviously the artist has to pay the money first, it's a business; are you crazy enough to think they're gonna give you money just because you sing? WTF. Or you can be like me, you can be an indie artist (because no label wants me) and get the 100% of the money (100% of $3; then some label artists will get 10% of $20,000,000. Which one would you choose?)

@@MiketheNerdRanger definitely, but yet getting more exposure and money than 99% of independent artists. Straight like that. I'm a '90s kid so I had the experience of going to a record store, buying the LP and establishing a physical attachment to the physical product. And lastly, what are labels gonna do about the recycled, microwave "music" that they keep plaguing the airwaves with? That should be squeezed into this equation as well because if the music sucks ass, that's gon be a problem whenever the artist gets ready to do shows.
if they're open and honest then they can't control you. this is by design.
Might regret this but go listen to my new song “Bottom of the Sea”!! Definitely not mainstream but also definitely from the depths of my soul💙

Kinda explains why Rubi rose is now doing onlyfans
Exactly , she needs to make her own money 😢
I understand why some artist are quick to sign and escape the struggle they're in but being a creative is a true test in patience in a society that needs artists but doesn't respect us. I rather come up super slow than get rich and popular fast through a fcked label contract.
Not just Lucien Grainge, iriving Azoff, Shelli Azoff and Jeffrey Azoff. They treat Harry styles like family and he's their golden goose so he seems to be treated equally as his bosses, he must be the only happy person in music industry.
But i could be wrong and find that hus situation is more similar like Britney Spears 🤔
That’s the thing, he could’ve already been born into high society like ( SZA and Chance the Rapper) or he could very well be kin to his superiors and gets special treatment
@@marquethagod1769SZA and Chance? Do tell..
@@marquethagod1769most of the mainstream musicians have already been living lavish with trust funds it’s unfair but frankly we can’t do anything about it
@@SomeOldHeadOnGas I mean that’s what I just said.
@@marquethagod1769 didn't realise SZA and Chance the Rapper grew up in high society?!
i’d rather a behind the scene job! more industry respect & better pay, with the luxury of a private life! we thought the main talent were the rich ones, let’s talk about those who sign their checks, the directors, the producers, i need THEIR tax brackets!
I think we can admit the industry is on its last limb. Ever since mj shi was never the same for ppls that signed
All I would want is to just make music and connect with people. It ain’t even about the fame and money for me
Underground is forever, and mainstream comes and goes.
Well summarised 🙂👍

Great video!
They complain about downloading and shame and threaten and accuse the public but it's like 'don't you dare pirate you're stealing from THE ARTIST. . . ugh, THAT'S OUR JOB' The banksters and the shylocks MONEY IS THEIR GOD
I don’t want fame… I just want my music to be heard. I don’t want attention. It sucks that both are intertwined.
My best advice to anyone reading this, don’t sign to a contract to a music label and if you are doing anything be prepared, be smart and have a team
Black Pink girls and Bruno Mars got contracts! They just need the right team! Indie or signed to a major. Labels sign thousands of artists who actually have little natural talent. Real talented artists who are also marketable are the ones that get pushed because a team of people at the label and outside, support them.
everyone thought Spotify would democratize music and the exact opposite has happened bc listeners simply dont want to pay for music and maintain an MP3 library.
I made a comment outlining step-by-step exactly how to make it, target your audience, set-up your e-mail game, use print-to-order merch, etc and my comment was erased.
Interesting
So if a artist is given a loan by the label, but they manage to save some of it, are they obliged to return the remaining amount?
The artist know the game…they want the fame
Such good content🤌🏾
lol I saw Kali on the picture and I had thought “she’s definitely a sell out, inauthentic, plastic and lying about it and insecure “
;-;
fame is a curse btw…
This is more predominant in hiphop by my understanding, of course, I could be wrong. But it's people like Diddy that are the worst.
Well made
Someone should make a label that does not rip of his artist
Good video
I always wished I'd be wealthy and living a peaceful free life under the radar.
this isn’t even a music specific problem, all entertainment sucks.
I swear I recognized that thumbnail face while watching Venom, now I see it here. Is that RAYE? Who the hell is that?

@@danieltalebi1040 I’m finding it funny that she happened to be on a poster on the set of Venom for some reason. It was outside of a woman’s convenience store down the sidewalk a bit. That same photo.
Please, reduce the music. It was wayyy wayyy too loud and hard to get the message. The message is Apt!!! I wanna know more, but the music has covered everywhere, I’m unsure of whether to listen to the music alone or the message alone. 5$: the message is more important!!! Than that Loud music!!!😞
what i don’t understand, is people who are stilll actively signing 360 slave deals… like wtf, are you slow…. you clearly learned nothing from past moguls
You really MUST add References to the actual LABELS you are referring to. Because I and many other labels mainly indie micro boutique underground etc offer more favourable terms to the artists, discuss Artist Advances assist with FREE mentoring marketing and promotion to aid in ensuring the artist can obtain as much royalties as possible and its run like a partnership or team with 2 way consultation.

Is Kali Uchis signed to a label? If so, how's she able to release songs dissing the label?
Sounds like they just take the advantage of musicisns' following their passion
Exactly my bro
💪🏾Everybody scared AI gon’ take their jobs. But let me tell ya, two jobs I’m glad AI gon’ wipe out: the accountant and the lawyer. Them two, they the weakest links for artists, and AI finna replace ‘em both.🤟🏾
theyll just progam the AI to be as shady i see it as lose lose
Can u make a video about the payola that some white artist use to be known without having hits?
If anyone is using payola its definitely not white artists in america lol its a majority white people, they sell way better
Its called paying your dues. Getting onto a record label is good for everyone. You need a team to play in the big leagues. If you think you can do it all by yourself, you are a fool. Its like playing and winning the lottery...you can get lucky and pick the numbers on your own or you can have the insider information and get the big money with your team of manipulators to tell you what numbers to play and WIN BIG! Its your choice. Now if you are the type of person who pisses his/her money away, go work at BK or Walmart and stay away from the contracts. JMO
f labels, cheers.
Why not just send all your music to someone who wants to release your music or send it to a friend and have them say its a "sample audio" or some random shit and having all the music you want out there and all the music the lable wants out there
Bruh what?
Become an independent artist
is this the content people go to when a label rejects their demo
Why did you put Kali Uchis on the thumbnail
Cuz she’s a victim of this
@@KingstonTine-in5qp he could’ve explained it in the video that’s what I was hoping to learn about
Poor babe 😫💔 I love her so much she deserves better
These videos come out every month and say the same thing 😂 dunning kruger effect I swear. this is common knowledge at this point 100% labels have already adjusted the standard contract. UA-camrs don’t know anything that really happens behind the scenes.
Also Labels have contacts in the marketing world. An Indie artist with a bank loan still will not be able to get on the radio or key marketing campaigns
I see why do fraud now damn
Citing fanatic Milton Fridmqn as if he was an economist... no, seriously, do your homework.
He was literally an economist lol u ppl have a problem with everything dog
So they don't make any money because they have record labels but they live in mansions? This video is ridiculous. Obviously the artist has to pay the money first, it's a business; are you crazy enough to think they're gonna give you money just because you sing? WTF. Or you can be like me, you can be an indie artist (because no label wants me) and get the 100% of the money (100% of $3; then some label artists will get 10% of $20,000,000. Which one would you choose?)
How many record label artists do you think there are? The ones that live in mansions are the smallest fraction of the roster; the exceptions, not the rule. 9 times out of 10, the label is screwing you over.
@@MiketheNerdRanger definitely, but yet getting more exposure and money than 99% of independent artists. Plus, they're not forced to be signed, if a label screws you over it's because you're letting that happen; if you don't get a lawyer or understand or agree with the contract, it's your fault, not the label's fault. And I'm not defending labels at all, I'm just saying what the reality is.
It might be a scam but if you sign to get scammed it's your fault.
@@UB.S So instead of holding record labels accountable, it's only on you? It's takes like these that make it so these record companies never change. What you're doing is nothing but victim blaming, as if everything that happens is all in their control.
@@MiketheNerdRanger not sure if you're understanding what I'm saying. I'm not blaming anyone, I'm just saying the literal facts, I'm not even giving an opinion. The sad truth is that most musicians can't make a living out of their music for a very simple reason: there's pretty much endless supply and not so much demand.
I'm one of those musicians wishing and trying to make a living from music, by the way.
@UB.S Perhaps I did misread. Were you being rhetorical when you said, "If you get scammed, then it's your fault?" Because it really isn't; a lot of this happens even when they have a lawyer. The onus is not on the musicians. It's on record labels, the ones with all the power.
