5:147:23 The spray/construction foam is open to diffusion compared to rubber based products like armaflex. That could result in humidity condensing on the cold metal -> rust.
This. I’ve restored a handful of classic vehicles where spray foam was used, those were the rustiest spots. I’d never use them. Same with traditional insulation in panel cavities. I think in a handful of years a lot of these Van conversions are gonna be rotted off the road sadly.
not sure if anyone has pointed it out yet, not trying to be a pain either. but im pretty sure the rivnuts were supposed to go into the sheet behind the bracing, might be an idea to check that as it would be a real pain to see that amazing bed or van get damaged because it wasn't supported properly. great video tho love the build so far
I absolutely LOVE this project. Thanks for sharing it with us. I think last week I suggested you watch a video or two on the DualEx youtube channel.... for inspiration or ideas or whatever. He's got over a half a million subscribers and doesn't put out all that many videos.... but I haven't seen anyone better at making these tiny home camper van things. I would have loved to own one of these things when I was a bit younger... and I'm still thinking about doing something - but on a smaller scale.
Just a suggestion for a future van build or anyone planning one, use an air saw to cut the holes in the sides of the van. I got a $25 from Harbor Freight and it's much narrower than a jig saw so you can cut from the inside of the van.
Some aerosol propellants will dissolve XPS foams as wargaming terrain hobbyists well know. It's possible to get "XPS safe" products, but most just use an airbrush or paint brush to seal the foam or apply a similar product instead.
Great series! I'm wondering if the self tapping screw holes with unprotected edges will start rusting in the long run with all the humidity of two people living in there..?
Love this build series!!! What Dewalt tool were they using to to "seat" the Kilmat (4:34)? the "roller" method is such a pain in the hands and so time consuming.
swap in a honda and toyota v6 engine in there and it will be built proof/reliable camper. nice work on the insulation. Just be careful who ever sleeps on the top bed to avoid falling out the window.
A pneumatic nibbler is our tool of choice for cutting windows/flares from the inside.

@@HotRodHippie What would you use in the panel caveties as an alternative to sprayfoam and traditional insulation?

at 9:50, I tend to agree, I wouldn't use the rivnuts that way. BUT! If that's what the bed platform's manufacturer said to do, so be it.
That camper van conversion is really coming along nicely Johnny & crew! 👍👍🔨🔨
3M Fastbond works well for bonding foam to plywood.
There’s so many great products out there now for van fix outs a little pricey but well worth it. As always love your work

Eyy... the Gym got used!!! Kinda.
based on the size of the butts in this video, not much time in the gym

Thinsulate is also used in Winter Gloves
Those ribnuts should go under the plate you are screwing..
Looking great, love the bed platform!
It's really coming out fantastic, Johnny! Awesome work! 😃
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Loving this series! Killer QUALITY work.
This is coming along beautifully!! Awesome job guys!
Great Video!....Thanks for Sharing!
😊interesting project thanks for sharing with us
Almost spit my food out when I saw the price of the bed. Over $3k. Good lord!
Yeah, this is definitely luxury van life. The van itself is $55K, base price. 😱
@@trishblakely3476 It’s a beautiful van and lots of money being spent on it. I love it! Not all vans have to be DIY but good heavens hahaha
Yeah I’d be curious to see a final cost breakdown. Probably more than a small house at the end of the day
Same on the bed!!!! What trash does it even go up n down?
Yeah anyone spending that on a bed is dumb as fuck

Pink foam... Use liquid nails, original label.
I have nothing to say really, but I appreciate your content, and wish to help with the yt-algorithms.
That’s a lot of holes to chop in a new van.

@CraftedWorshopofficial What would I happen to be the lucky winner of? You’ve got me curious!!
Hello I just subscribed to your channel! Thanks for the video. How thick is the orage A frame metal flat bar from the adventure wagon kit?
Good day, Where did the wall brace come from?

Great Video! Jhonny, I fancy you very very much.
Good video, but why not sealing the cut metal edges with a black primer or something? 🤷🏼♂️
That glowforge really deserves a better location... :-/
