I have strayed from Lemon Cypress because their branch structure seems complicated...Yours are growing with excellent vigor...I haven't developed the ability to envision where a tree can go so I'm in the same boat as you except you were brave enough to give it a try...I also look for bargain basement trees to practice on...Keep up the good work and it will keep coming back for you to re-attempt to find your vision for this tree...Thanks for sharing...
Thanks! And yeah I had a hard time finding the right vision for this one in particular. Usually if I just cutting, or put the tree to a slant, some kind of vision will open up. This one took awhile!
I had the same problem with my Lemon Cypress so after a while a did a windswept and so far it looks ok... l like that centre chop and new pot looks great
I don't really have a regular update schedule. I usually just take clips here and there and then mash them all together when there's enough good material.
Excellent reboot choice...It does look better in the smaller pot...With the top gone it really has great movement...Well done...With no organics in your substrate you must fertilize weekly? Looking good...Thanks...
now i want to buy a lemon cypress again xD i think removing the lower branch could be cool, some kind of literati, division into only 2 main branches always looks odd (in my opinion). kind of the same reason you don't put 2 or 4 trees into a forest i think.
Yeah I guess I hadn't considered that approach. I'll see how this goes and whether I end up liking it or not but I'll put that idea in my back pocket. Thanks!
Lemon cypres bonsai is beautiful, thanks for sharing my friend success always

@@dkstott29 thanks!
Monterey has excellent growing weather. Rarely hot or cold, temps in 70s thanks to fog.
Sounds like my kind of weather!
