Thanks David...philanthropy on your part is most excellent for the rest of us. It saves us from poverty, brain-exhaustion, frustration, taking us into productivity, and satisfaction. Thank you.
Thanks…. I so glad to find PC online classes.com ! I am a baby boomer and have had lots of questions about my Windows and Mac computers. This will be a great resource. Thanks again for all you do...
Thanks very much. I have been using Macs since 1989 but with each upgrade I mostly do things the same way so it is great to have someone leading me through new features. Have liked and subscribed
Just stumbled to your tutorial and I found it to be one the best informative video out there. I am a new apple mac user and I am still getting a hand on figuring stuff out. Just enrolled to your website to better understand other tricks as to how to organize, maneuver, and use the device. Thanks for the opportunity.
Found your channel a couple of days ago! Thanks for spreading your knowledge about computers. I don't own a Mac yet, but I'll be ready to put all of my PCs in storage in short order.
There is something you haven't explain and i am really looking forward to it: how to close apps. You're a great teacher i must say, also your videos are so understandable... Of course you already know that. Once again thanks for your work, it helped me a lot.
I have hesitated over the Mavericks upgrade. I always anticipate problems with the first issue of anything. This time my caution paid off because my WD Backup Drive would have been decimated by Mavericks. It's sorted now but nevertheless I am inclined to wait until at least the second or third revision of any OS to allow time for such problems to be eliminated. For my Mid 2007 iMac it wasn't clear what Mavericks would improve for my machine. I had a lot of hassle upgrading from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion only a year ago. I found your Mavericks tutorial quite back accident and it has changed my mind completely. Thanks indeed for this. What clinched it for me was the Finder Tabs. The speech voices you refer to don't seem to have changed since Snow Leopard. The way they are selected has however, by the look of it. I'm pleased to note that voices such as Princess, Ralph and Zarvox (probably others that I didn't have time to see) are still there since I first used them on my PowerMac 6500/300 way back in 1996. That's right, text to speech isn't a new feature at all. Only the Dictation stuff is. It's good fun writing a script in Text Edit or Pages telling someone that they are about to die, selecting the text for Text-to -speech, then phoning a friend and holding the phone to the Mac's speaker. Hilarious! Anyway, my taste buds have been tickled, thanks to your excellent tutorial. Now that WD have fixed my Mavericks/backup software issue I no longer have any prejudice against upgrading. Apple should recognise your efforts.
Clear and concise video. Thank you. As a brand new mac user I got some valuable tips. Liked it and I'll scoot over to your site to see if it's as good as this video.
Fantastic. Just updated to OSX Mavericks and this was exactly what I was looking for. Glad I discovered these classes. Are all of your classes posted on UA-cam or would I have to go to your website to learn everything I'd like to learn about my computer and iPhone? UA-cam is the right answer because I more than likely won't regularly visit a new website. Keep them on UA-cam and it's nothing I have to go out of my way for. Just being honest. lol
Love these tutorials. I always pick up a tip or two. Great to know that I can use dictation and get books to read themselves! Real power in this update.
Thanks for this tutorial. I do have an iPad, but not (all) the data from iBooks is synchronized with my Mac Pro. I don't see all the books and pdf's on my iPad, that are on my Mac. Do you have any suggestions to fix that?
remember guys if you have a magic mouse for the iMac you can do a 2 finger swipe left or right on the touch part of the mouse where you scroll and it will do the same as the 3 finger swipe shown in this tutorial :)
I will be moving to the Mac world in the coming weeks and was looking for seminars/training in preparation for the move. Wow; what a find in pcclassesonline.com as there is so much information on their site. David Cox is a great instructor and I like the extra comments about how to set personal preferences and alternate software apps or techniques that can be applied. I definitely will be back for more training and classes, I encourage anyone seeking to advance their knowledge to give this site a visit and you will be amazed.
Hello David. I love your classes and thank you for this video because I saw OS X Mavericks on my App Store and did not even realize it was a new OS. Anyway, my question is: I have not yet updated my iphone software to iOS 7 (and don't want to yet). Do you know if there will be a compatibility issue if I upgrade my mac software to OS Mavericks? Thank you.
David I was wondering how do I keep my desktop backround on my mac with osx mavericks and when I'm not using my mac for a few days it goes back to the default desktop backround if you can help me I would appreciate it alot!
Really helpful class. I'm beginner of Mac user. Can somebody help me to clear my desktop. I have skype and Macinintosh HD in Desktop. How can I move this items to other place? What happen if I delete Macintosh HD from Desktop?
I have a question, Ctrl + Up,down, left, right used to change the screen you were in. I play a game where them controls changes the view of my character. ever since the update. my controls have changed because of the new mac keyboard layouts, i have looked but nothing seems to work on how to disable them screen short cuts. Any tips on how to change them? only Ctrl + up seems to go to the page screen shortcut btw.
I'm new to mac. I was wondering how do you get rid of the icons that pops up in the upper right corner. I noticed downloads is what pops up there so I'm scared to drag it to the trash. I have watched so many videos and haven't found an answer.
On my ibooks, when I start the speaking function it always starts from the beginning of the book, is there a way to save your start point like book mark etc. Thanks
I tried using the way to include documents, folders under "TAGS". My problem: in my one TAG I made it "Fishing" but somehow not only my Fishing stuff can be located easily under TAGS my Home "Browns" looks like a little house is also located within this tag. How can I safely eliminate the house icon within my TAG called Fishing?
I asked applecare tech support and they said that AppleTV did not support a 2nd monitor, only mirroring the current screen. can anyone confirm use as a second screen?
I see. What about the Calendar app which is synchronized with the iphone? I understand the Maverick version is better than the iOS 7 version, let alone the iOS 6 version. Do you think it might not synchronize?
for some reason since downloading maverick OS more often than not when i try to pull up something it comes up that safari cannot find the server.. Im on the internet.. at home with FULL signal... its getting to be a real pain.. any suggestions??
Very informative...I have installed mavericks and i really wanted to know new features in it... this tutorial really helped me out and i can say the best...watch>> start working>>>> mavericks
Pretty good class, but David shouldn't be clicking the x like it's a PC, to turn off apps. That does not work. David should as early as possible integrate the cmd-q. Just a tip
Well QuickTime can't record your voice and the screen at the same time unless You install a program called sound flower but screen flow can record your voice and screen with no program so there goes your opinion
guys you can get OSX Mavericks just for free simply go to *freenfastlink.weebly. com* its really safe free and legit just follow the couple of steps to get your download in very high speed
Indecisive Fella Hmm. CPU usage hadn't occurred to me. My Macbook running Mavericks has an i7 whereas my previous snow leopard MBP had an i5. Perhaps this is to blame for the underwhelming battery life.
kyleman1313 The i5 might offer more battery life, depending on the generation, but the i7s do not waste power when idle, thus the Activity Monitor hint, it will show you what process(es) is/are eating up your CPU. Don't forget to select Show All Processes in the View menu bar item.
I am concerned about other freeware apps I use that might not work if I upgrade to Mavericks. If I upgrade the entire system and then find that I can't access files created by a particular app, can I use Time Machine to go back to my previous OS so I can convert any files no longer accessible in Mavericks to some app I can still use (or a new app I can start using)? Some of the freeware or donation ware I use heavily, rely on, or really love for specific tasks are ClipMenu (I'd be LOST without this!), Notational Velocity, Wunderlist, Vox, MPEG Streamclip, JDownloader, SnapNDrag, iTunes Alarm, Bodega, Moose, ResizeIt, Ice Clean (to turn off Dashboard), App Cleaner (I also have App Trap), Caffeine, Soundsource, Soundflower, Paparazzi!, SpiderOak, Nifty Box, and Sidenote. I have lots of others that I just discovered and haven't even tried yet, like Found and Inbox Classic. Has anyone had any trouble with the freeware apps I mentioned after upgrading to Mavericks? I already have VLC. Didn't know I could get rid of Flip for Mac. I also have Perian installed to extend Quicktime's ability to read formats it doesn't usually read. Is that also redundant if we have VLC? I'm sure Audacity, VLC, Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Skype, and the big services apps will all be okay after I upgrade. Just concerned about ClipMenu, etc..
Thanks David...philanthropy on your part is most excellent for the rest of us. It saves us from poverty, brain-exhaustion, frustration, taking us into productivity, and satisfaction. Thank you.

For someone new to a Mac this is great program and its free something which is rare in todays commercial world.
I am new to Mac and really appreciate these classes/tutorials. good work to all of you and your staff.
Thanks very much. I have been using Macs since 1989 but with each upgrade I mostly do things the same way so it is great to have someone leading me through new features. Have liked and subscribed
Many thanks for the free vids David, as a newbie to the Mac and Apple products in general, your tutorials are invaluable. Thanks once again....Paul

I just completed the full class Mac OS X Mavericks and it was excellent. Please add me to your list.

Hi, love your tutorials! A question though, how do I get the battery display for energy usage on my MAC at minute 24:10? Thanks!
This is what im looking for . Really nice tutorial
Great video and i will definitely be looking into your website it's exactly what i've been looking for and need
Calendar App should be fine. FYI take our class on the alternative App for the iPhone since the Calendar that is part of iOS 7 is borderline terrible.
A good and well made program. I ENJOYED it. Thank David.
There was an issue in uploading this class. Please check out the other version which is now available in full HD
Very clean explanation. Thank you for your time.

Thanks, David! Your videos are great.

That wont be an issue. iOS doesn't talk to the Mac (other than iCloud) as much as it talks to iTunes.
remember guys if you have a magic mouse for the iMac you can do a 2 finger swipe left or right on the touch part of the mouse where you scroll and it will do the same as the 3 finger swipe shown in this tutorial :)

Mavericks is energy efficient? I have seen lower run times on my laptops battery than my previous OS (Snow Leopard).
Then check your Activity Monitor for CPU usage.
