I used to take ashwangandha years ago until I got a lot of pain on my liver. It has to do with cleaning the herb/toxins/iron. I've heard many stories about liver issues and ashwangdha. Can you please get into this? Thank you.
@@olafverweij1622 Years ago, I used it occasionally, never exceeding one month, and not on a daily basis. This year, I took it for just one week but experienced intense liver pain. I feel absolutely no effect of Ashwagandha. But L-theanine is a game changer for me in managing stress. I feel calm and reduced anxiety within 30 minutes of taking L-theanine.
Been taking it for years…one of the best natural remedies. When I saw the title of your video Dr. I was worried you were going to tell me to stop taking it. Lmao😂❤❤
I tried ashwagandha a few years ago and had a bad experience. I was having some issues and decided to try it. Over a few months time I was having more problems such as my heart going up to like 100-110 bpm while relaxing in the evening watching TV and suddenly a tear would run down my cheek for seemingly no reason. I saw a video where someone talked about how with certain people it could cause serotonin issues. I stopped taking it and two days later I felt like a new man .
Out of curiosity were you taking any other supplements or meds? I'm asking as I've found great success and was going to recommend it to my mum. I would rather tell her the good and the bad before she makes her decision. I hope you don't mind me asking.
@SweetSassyBull only basic vitamins, nothing out of the ordinary. It seems it works well for most people and I fell into the exceptions. SSRI meds are horrible for me too, they make me like over the top zombied, but Buproprion seems to work well so I suspect my issue is not serotonin but more on the dopamine side.
Thank you Dr. Berg, my list is getting so long. Lol, but I've definitely added it. I am looking forward to this as I've been in a stressful situation for a long time, and have bad side effects and symptoms because of it. Thank you again, everything ive tried that you recommend has been helpful me so much. Big changes in my body and mind. 😊🇨🇦
As someone who has had a lot of anxiety later in my life as my physical exercise diminished, which led me to being diagnosed with ADHD and Autism, Ashwagandha has been the only thing that has helped my anxiety. I've been through the process of trying medications and therapy to deal with trauma and anxiety/depression, I stopped all prescription medication after cycling Ashwagandha (Typically a month to start then 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off). Might be worth a try, as well as looking at potential B vitamin deficiency (Especially thiamine and B12). Great info as always Dr. Greatly appreciated for those of us who have needed to "figure out" what's been causing us grief when it comes to our health. Cheers!
@SM-by8mg I have tried multiple SSRI and anxiolytic medications, and Ashwagandha is the only one that has not given me side effects. To be fair, I believe my symptoms are related to my ADHD and Asperger's, not true depression. I've done lots of therapy around my trauma as well, so my assumption is that the anxiety I have been trying to treat is likely just ADHD. I typically take Ashwagandha 2-3 times a day (Taking it for 30 days straight then 2 weeks off and 2 weeks on). My advice is to try it but some people feel emotional blunting and don't like it as much as I do.
I took your ashwagandha/pepper mix for a month and wow. My stress went down and has stayed down for months. And.... I am autistic and I have that negative self-talk voice that is always loud in my head.... since I took your ashwagandha, it has been so quieted that it does not affect me anymore. I am 60, so this is an amazIng break!!
Great video, Doc! Your detailed list of benefits, from sleep support to testosterone boosting and thyroid function, shows why this herb has gained such prominence in stress management protocols.
I was consumed with over analysing everything that happened with me. Everything made me nervous or scared or sad. This was a 24hour a day routine. It stopped me from sleeping at nights. Ashwagandha worked as a miracle medicine. I was sceptical at first. Because natural medicine usually takes weeks to show effects. But ashwagandha is so effective that I could feel it calming down my nerves within 2 days. My mind became so calm that all the tension and negative emotions just vanished. Thanks Dr.Berg. You are a hero ❤
Cartain people (like me) get even more positive benefits from Ashwagandha when we switch to tea instead of coffee. You can always go no caffeine, but imo, having a daily cup of tea at the very least (preferably one or two hours after waking up and doing some light work) really improves my mood and productivity.
I've been on it for a week and it's been night/day. Been try ing to correct Pharma poisoning/Doctor's surgery negligence that has created issues. Not solved 100% now, but has helped a lot.

Thank you doc! I took it for a while and I really think it helps me with sleep. I have to start again today! Have a blessed Thanksgiving holiday weekend🤗🙏🏻❤️
I HAVE TO WARN PEOPLE!!! ASHWAGANDHA IS A NIGHTSHADE! You may have sensitivities to nightshades and not know it. Maybe you've never stressed your system. But then you add Ashwagandha to your daily nightshade intake, and it's too much. THAT is what happened to me! A Naturopath had me on 2 g Ashwagandha daily. After a mere 3 months, my health had mysteriously deteriorated. It would take another year and many many diagnostic tests before a gastroenterologist would suggest that he sees that kind of damage in people with nightshade sensitivities. Then another THREE YEARS to clear most mystery symptoms (10 years later still not 100%). THE THING IS THAT YOU MAY NOT KNOW YOU HAVE AN ISSUE UNTIL YOU HAVE AN ISSUE.
This exact same thing is happening with my 22 year old daughter. I bought it for her because she has anxiety, and not 4 years later, after seeing 5 cardiologists amongst other specialists, she is still dealing with heart issues. But all the doctors said she's healthy her test comes back normal, she has not been the same since taking this indian herb.
Holy crap, I did not know that. Thank you so much for this info, because I was about to buy some next week again. I suffer from autoimmune issues, that makes me sensitive to a very large group of foods. With nightshades being one of them, I still get very sick off potatoes and paprika. Yeah so I might have to ax, ashwagandha off my list then. How are things like holy basil, ginseng and rhodiola? Are they part of any unsafe food group or contain oxalates?
I was wondering about that and fibromyalgia. Nightshade foods are not good for FM. Also wondering the effects on the heart. Did you daughter get the 'thing' injected into her arm?? Thanks for this input.
Ashwagandha in Ayurveda has a very specific preparation. I have never seen an Ayurveda doctor (Vaidya) prescribe Ashwagandha the way we take it in the West.
I live in India and I have been using it for over three decades with great benefit. I am 86 and in good health. Dr Matthew a distinguished oncologist used it food over four decades and prescribed it to his patients.
A dosage that is too high or taking it too frequently (several doses per day) can cause this in some individuals, as can taking it for too long of a period of time. Cycling on and off of it like Dr. Berg suggested is a good way to avoid that.
I request you to please give the credit due to ancient vedic medicine called Ayurveda that used Ashwagandha. Even the name Ashwagandha is Sanskrit. To just say many cultures used it is very dismissive of its true origins.

Finding you, your knowledge & Ashwagandha is a huge game changer. Thanks Dr. Berg for all you do for all of us! You are greatly appreciated!

I take mine around 11 am and it works great to give me energy during the day. Anxiety is minimal. Sleep is great. If you take it at night, it’s can mess with dreams ect. That good energy has to work it self out. Don’t go backwards. I would never take at night from experience 💪🏽
It's not for everyone. Me and many people gets the opposite reaction from it. I get high heart rate and can't sleep all. One of my friend got serious depression symptoms from it. We are individuals and everything doesn't work for everyone. Listen to your body!
You are right, also people with adrenal fatigue should avoid this.
Same here. I had a poor reaction as did my Mom. We avoid it now.
@@Janet-l6z Yes exactly! I have adrenal fatigue. That's why I avoid also caffeine and all stimulants.
@@JayRayOfficialhow do you know if you have adrenal fatigue?
@@childoftheking1960 You can know it with your symptoms. I developed very poor tolerance for stress because I had tons of stress in the past. Also if you are very intolerant to caffeine and stimulants (like me) then most likely your adrenals are burned out.
I've taken ashwagandha in the afternoon and it kept me awake until 2 am in the morning. I definitely recommend NOT taking it in the evening.
You reacted like I did with the same results. We are either not candidates for using this product, or something of the like. It upped my testosterone, but I definitely didn't sleep very well at all.
Yes I had same response.
Nice to see your videos back in the algorithm. ❤ Thanks for the reminder, I have not been taking Ashwagandha for a few years, and I remember that it was very beneficial.
I've been taking Ashwahgandha for over a year now. My Dr. Recommended it to me as I wanted to get off of years of bupropion for PPMD. I had also found I have high cortisol levels. Since I've started taking it this has helped me tremendously with the worry and being calm as well as sleep. I have heard to give yourself a break from it. So after two bottles, I skip a month. Thank you Dr Berg for this video it's nice to know this is a great alternative for these symptoms. Within these last 9 years, I lost my Mom, daughter and Pastor/spiritual father of 12 years. This has helped with the process of grieving❤ along with prayer of course.
Found it very strong. I’ll try again 1/4 dose.
How does the strength feel?
@ confusing. Can’t think as well. Actually increases anxiety levels

When I had 7 years ago a severe Burn-out, through Ayurveda I bumped on "Ashwagandha" that helped me a lot! Also "Shatavari" is very good and helps if you have stomach problems/ulcers from stress, best thing to take!

It’s probably not for you. I hate the stuff. You should research all the various forms of Magnesium. That will probably be much better for you. You’ll have to try each one though to see how they affect YOU.

Thats why they recommend 3months and then stop for a while
@@olafverweij1622 Years ago, I used it occasionally, never exceeding one month, and not on a daily basis. This year, I took it for just one week but experienced intense liver pain. I used milk thistle and increased my water intake. I always stick to the recommended dose: Withania somnifera extract (Bio 600 mg, KSM-66 Ashwagandha).
Can I take it with your Vit D + K2 pills and Your magnesium glycinate?? I take these 2 at night together after a meal ??
It’s in the Cortisol Manager that I take. It helps me during high stress
I feel absolutely no effect of Ashwagandha. But L-theanine is a game changer for me in managing stress. I feel calm and reduced anxiety within 30 minutes of taking L-theanine.
L theanine is my favorite too!
Maybe change the brand? Also, have you tried using his videos on anxiety, on the correct b1, magnesium glycinate, etc.
Is L theanine natural ?????

U should also try lions mane, it's like theanine++
I take Ashwagandha everytime before going to gym. been taking it last few years. Quite good.
Been taking it for years…one of the best natural remedies. When I saw the title of your video Dr. I was worried you were going to tell me to stop taking it. Lmao😂❤❤
Hello there, thanks for reaching out. Very glad it is working for you. Keep doing well!
I take Ashwagandha with Relora and Rhodiola. My heart rate is so calm.
Cheers!
Did you take SSRI for depression ?How Aswaghanda helped your depression after medication ? How much you take and timing ? Please elaborate a little
@SM-by8mg I have tried multiple SSRI and anxiolytic medications, and Ashwagandha is the only one that has not given me side effects.
I recently began using a good quality ashwagandha and I have to say I noted a definite improvement In my In my overall well being
What brand?
My stress has gone through the roof since menopause Ill try this ❤
It definitely helps. Also try vitamin D even if you are told your levels are ok.
Sure. Hope it will help you.
Exactly what I needed ~ and I’ve had some for a while and didn’t take it!!
Now I will
Ashwagandha should be taken with milk.

I have been using it for long time, ashwagandha excellent for anxiety
where you got it bro? Like which company?
Id like to know brand as well, tried a few and felt nothing
During the day take it with SAMe for stress. At night take gaba and L-Tryptophan.
Dr. Berg's Ashwagandha supplement is well worth trying!
Thanks for sharing this. Any other benefits you have noticed?
I was consumed with over analysing everything that happened with me. Everything made me nervous or scared or sad. This was a 24hour a day routine. It stopped me from sleeping at nights. Ashwagandha worked as a miracle medicine. I was sceptical at first. Because natural medicine usually takes weeks to show effects. But ashwagandha is so effective that I could feel it calming down my nerves within 2 days. My mind became so calm that all the tension and negative emotions just vanished.
Thanks Dr.Berg. You are a hero ❤
⚠It is said that: Ashwagandha might cause the immune system to become more active, and this could increase the symptoms of auto-immune diseases.⚠
Thanks for keeping the original name of it.
I was taking it in the mornings and it made me feel and a bit fatigued so I stopped taking it. I also noticed that I was more calm and less anxious and had more clarity. I will try taking it at bedtime. Thanks Dr Berg!! ❤
It's better taken at night for winding down and rest 🤍

Thank you for your short , very informative , easy to understand , getting to the point issues.
You are welcome, Terry. Thanks for watching!
Ashwagandha in Ayurveda has a very specific preparation. I have never seen an Ayurveda doctor (Vaidya) prescribe Ashwagandha the way we take it in the West.
What way do they prescribe it?
I live in India and I have been using it for over three decades with great benefit. I am 86 and in good health. Dr Matthew a distinguished oncologist used it food over four decades and prescribed it to his patients.

Just ordered. Thank you!
I've heard anecdotes of people getting severe anhedonia similar to PSSD from ashwaganda. Not sure if I want to risk it.
A dosage that is too high or taking it too frequently (several doses per day) can cause this in some individuals, as can taking it for too long of a period of time. Cycling on and off of it like Dr. Berg suggested is a good way to avoid that.
@@MoonFlowerAlchemythanks. That's good to know.
You could also explain negetive affects of aswagandha...then it would be better ...
I request you to please give the credit due to ancient vedic medicine called Ayurveda that used Ashwagandha. Even the name Ashwagandha is Sanskrit. To just say many cultures used it is very dismissive of its true origins.

What about harm/damage to liver?
NAC for liver.
Yes, but Im not taking 1 to counter the other@FriedaTheFowl
@deeT02 NAC is good all around. The energency room actually uses NAC to detox tylenol toxicity in the liver and it also breaks down mucus in the respiratory tract. NAC is the precursor to Glutathione, which is our body's most important antioxidant. Cycle the Ashwaghanda if you take it, but do read about NAC, because it is really beneficial for our bodies.
Makes me way to relaxed in daytime. Much better before going to sleep with milk.
