- In this wargaming terrain tutorial we're going to add to our star wars legion terrain set by making up some fairly simple modular trenches in the same style as we did for our sci-fi tower in the last video.

It will be basic materials again this time with just 50mm XPS foam and some craft (EVA) foam, although I will be using a hot wire foam cutting table to make some of the cuts here. On that note, thank you to @NatesMiniatures for sending me this foam cutting table, it was a great fun tool to play with, and I can certainly see the appeal of the better quality cutters out there.
I hope you all enjoy the video, take care and all the best.

Thank you mate. 52 Miniatures is a fantastic channel, and Alex is a great person. Thanks for checking out my channel and commenting mate. I really appreciate it.
hell yeah first! thanks for the shoutout bud! enjoy that hot wire cutter XD hahaha
No problem at all. Thank you for the cutter mate.
I am also here from Alex. It's great to hear you are doing better, heart attacks cause some scary times. Hope all is well with you and the family, all the best wishes from me!
Thank you so much mate. I am home now and in recovery. I've been overwhelmed by the support and kind words from so many people. Alex is a great person for sharing my story, and it's made a huge difference to me and my family. Thank you for commenting.

Thanks Thomas. Good luck with your builds mate. I appreciate the comment.
Love the sprue details! :) thanks for this one Shawn

Hell yeah you're back. This is a great tutorial.
Thanks Andrew. Sorry for the delays in releases lately. I hope to have more frequent releases again very soon. I appreciate the comment and thanks for sticking around! Cheers mate.
Fun build Shawn! Details are top notch, and I am loving the star wars themed content!😍
Thanks mate. Glad you're enjoying the videos.
Panels look very appropriate for Star Wars. Makes sense there wouldn’t be any sprue pipes/conduits on the side facing enemy fire.
haha, I hadn't thought of that, but you're absolutely right.
You've given us another great build. I appreciate what seems to be a science fiction theme of late. Thank you.
Thank you mate. I've been enjoying these style of builds lately, but I think it might also be that once you build one piece, it always looks lonely and needs more pieces around it....and then a couple more after that...and so on :)
These turned out great! Going to find the tower one now. Love Star Wars builds.
Thank you again. Hopefully I can do some more of these soon.
Those barricades look great! Thanks for the tutorial.
No problem Jacob. Thanks for the comment mate.
Cool build! I might have to adapt something like this to use for Necromunda...
Great idea. Good luck with the build.
Looks great, its an awesome design!
Thank you, and cheers for the comment mate!
It just so clear and fun , thx
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Looking really good. If I may suggest, consider adding corner pieces so that you can have deeper recesses in the line, or even a whole corner post for the fortification.
Historically, the zig-zag pattern was used to block lines of fire down the trench and to prevent shrapnel from going more than a few meters. This only worked when you had narrow sections with corners obscured by the walls though.
Thank you. Great suggestion too, I definitely need to add a few more variations of these as options, which will be really easy to do I think. During this build it was a toss up between having lots of little modular pieces, which would have made for lots of variations (and likely more realistic options), or a few medium sized pieces to move around. You could easily go either way if you have enough magnets and patience to go for lots of smaller pieces :) . But you're right, it does feel a little incomplete here I think. I appreciate the comment mate. Cheers.
Lovely content as always mate the Star Wars collection is looking awesome
Thank you kindly. I really appreciate the comment mate.
This would also be a great idea to build space hulk corridors. Awsome built mate.
Absolutely. I've been thinking about how to create some cool corridors without needing a ton of foam (which is getting harder for me to find at the moment). I'm still working on it, but I have some rough ideas at this stage. We'll see how I go. Thanks for the comment mate.
@@RFDHobby Looking forward to see what cool stuff you will come up with next ;-). I enjoy all your video's, so keep 'm coming haha
@@alrethiansterraintutorials Cheers mate.
Hope you get better sir…. love the content
Thank you Robert.
Very nicely done
Thank you! Cheers!
Get well soon!!
Thank you Robin, really appreciate the comment mate. Take care and all the best.
so good! i love the idea of those small corner angles. (also a bit of fine sandpaper on the bottom of guides will help give you a little more grip for your hot wire guides! well the non moving ones anyway)
Thanks for the tip Trent.
Awesome stuff!
Nice build Shawn! Keep it up! Also, not sure if you meant to have a card to Nate or not, there is none, but you said "up there in the corner" 🤣
My bad, thanks for letting me know. It's up there now. Cheers mate.
+1 to engagement metrics
But also these turned out great!
Thank you very much! I appreciate the comment.
Cracking as always! The texture/greebling could easily be adjusted to be more grimdark - or less - for a lighter, cheery, brighter future...where armed conflict takes place in trenches...yeah...anyway they can be as cheery or grim as you may desire. Cheers!
haha, absolutely, this is a really quick way to get some stuff on the table, at least as far as the finer details go. You could really do a lot more quite easily to get a different/better look about these. They could probably do with some battle damage and weathering as well...I could probably keep working on these for another couple of weeks if I let myself :) Thanks for the comment mate.
Hope you make a speedy recovery.
Thanks Israel.
Starting to look like you're building a Hoth set :P
Thanks James. I'd love to say I have a clear, long term plan of where this is going...
don't know if this could work but neoprene glue is quite strong and not abrasive, it would save you time for the big pieces
Thanks for the suggestion, I will definitely try to grab some of that and give it a try. Cheers for your comment.
@@RFDHobby just use it in a well ventilated area, the stuff is nasty to smell ^^"
What game is the mini's he uses to measure the heights and stuff, from? Those blue guys? The one with the red head?
I used a couple of miniatures to show the height of the walls here (the Space Marines were one). But in the end these walls were designed for the Star Wars Legion miniatures, which I believe are 28mm.
@@RFDHobby Oh ok cool thank you. I've never heard of Space Marines. I'll have to google that one.
Is that foam cutter diy ? or is it a commercial brand ?
The 45 degree cutter is just something I made with a piece of off cut 1x2 timber. Works a treat. Let me know if you have any questions about it mate. Take care and all the best.
Do you sell these or just make them for videos
At this stage I make most things for the videos, but I always build things based on what I want or need for my collection. I don't play any tabletop games at the moment, so I just set this stuff up as shelf displays and occasionally rotate things around. I have heaps I can't fit anywhere anymore though, so I was considering taking some to the LGS to see if they could store it there and use it. I've had a few people suggest trying to sell these, but even though I'm running out of room, given how much time these take, it's hard to let them go at a cheap enough price that anyone would consider buying it. Don't get me wrong, I could really do with extra cash from doing something like that, but they take some work, and if something takes me a couple of days to build, it's hard to let it go for $20-30. Let me know if you have any more questions, and thank you for the comment. Take care and all the best mate.
@@RFDHobby Ok well thanks anyway. Cool build.
