The swords are Ekkos weapon ingame. They are the pointer from the giant clock from the tower in which they crashed their plane in. *Edit Afaik they have no specific powers except time being his theme.
They are actually the smaller handles of the chronometer, which is a watch that has passed strict precision tests and is certified to measure time with high accuracy, higher than a standard watch.
@@GeorgiaDowhi, so about the swords their actually not swords at all. You can see in an earlier fran that they are the arms of a clock for the large one. You have the large one for the hours and then the smaller one though I don’t really know for what. In about like 6 frames as Ekko glides by you can actually see them whole. But yea, they’re just clock arms (though truly fitting for the boy saviour) Though sorry if I may be preaching to the Choir and if somebody else explained it a while ago. But thanks for this video😊
Arguably, I don't think Ekko has any wasted time on screen. Like, every second he's there, he's making an impact and what he's doing has value in the story. This actually ties in very well with his league of legends character introduction video, where he says "If you don't make the most of the time you have, you don't deserve a single extra second."
For the kiss scene, it is implied that Powder knows that he is not her Ekko. We see her finding Ekko's drawings about the anomaly, often glances at him suspiciously when they are working together, and she even pushes him to leave and do what he has to, when she repeats "To take a leap forward you must leave some things behind". Then she doesn't ask him what he meant when saying to pretend like it is the first time, nor act surprised when he says he gave up on Zaun and just reaffirms him by talking about her Ekko never giving up, and thus neither would he. Finally, when she sees him leaving in the anomaly, she is not shocked, she looks at him fondly, confirming that she knew all along he was different. We can even see traces of this intuition Powder had in Jinx during episode 9 when she instantly notices the Monkeys on the Z-Drive.
There's also a new skin voice line for Jinx to Ekko that says "Which Ekko are we getting today? Genius or Madness?" implying that it wasn't the first time AU Ekko has been caught acting weird (possessed temporarily by other universe Ekkos). I agree with you wholeheartedly. Jinx/Powder is too smart to not figure things out like that. Girlie figured out the anomaly and helped Ekko invent the time machine just by studying it for a few weeks. It isn't farfetched to believe that there are times her Ekko isn't really her Ekko but still loves him the same.
Also after seeing it here she seems a little sad about telling ekko the you must leave a few things behind line at 10:58 As if she knows she won't see him again. Maan this got me right in the feels
Also yeah, it's been confirmed by the creators that ekko did tell jinx about her AU self, it just got cut. Same with him taking her back to the firelights base, them bonding some more and etc.
i figured he had to have told her by then since it is an odd thing to say but she didnt question it. she immediately understood. she was also not surprised by the second ekko. in awe, but not surprised. besides, she would have had to have known the purpose of science to actually help them.
I’m all for this 100% of the way, but can u imagine how awkward it would be to meet the firelights, given jinx has killed a number of them - their friends and family - while she worked for silco… I can imagine some wouldn’t be as forgiving as ekko or his number two who seemed to be ok with her when she saved him in the prison
2:10 I reckon the reason why Heimerdinger hasn't figured a way out of this universe is due to the fact that his species has a longer lifespan than us humans, so his sense of urgency is very different. I'm sure 3 years to him feels like 3 weeks.
If I recall from League itself, Lulu is an example of Yordles not understanding the concept of time. Went into the village for a few days to play with Pix, came out, everyone she knew was gone.
Also I think the implication is that Heimer might have fixed the class difference between Piltover and Zaun over those 3 years as he is still the head of council in this universe.
I actually wonder if its becauss he doesnt want it to exist and therefore didnt have a desire for it to. Why give this AU that knowledge after he already didnt agree with it existing in the other. He doesnt like risks, in general. I also think Heim has an adaptive personality. Georgia made the joke about just learning an instrument but I think hes actually helped foster piece between the top and underside of the cities and effectively saved the under city. Not having hextech probably only slowed down Silco's ambition, because there was still shimmer.
A fun tid bit, “Cool” Echo knew where to find Jinx because Powder showed him her room in Alt Piltover. Echo was able to save Jinx because of Powders assistance in helping Echo build the Z-drive. Powder helps him save the world, and he saves her life.
he was able to save her in other ways though. In the future Jayce was in Jinx's airship was still crashed into the Hexgate tower. But since Ekko certainly didn't have the z-drive in that timeline(s), since that is how he was able to win in this one, he had to have found another way to do it for the to build that and join the battle.
Oh wow... Not that fun tid bit, this is deeply touching and very poetic. In a way, that's healthy Powder inadvertently helping to save the broken one through the person that still loves her.
It's actually hinted that au powder knew or at the very least had a vague idea that this ekko wasn't her ekko a long time ago, you gotta remember she's a genius too. Also based off what our ekko said that wasn't their first kiss either, so I dont see an issue with it.
Was thinking the same thing. She is piecing these things together, and, at the time of the kiss, she seems like she understands HIS awkwardness. They kissed before so it's not some first kiss moment (for both of them)... Her accepting (not questioning his "pretend like it's the first time") is her understanding who he is. I don't think you can, within the context of a show and characters, really dramatically take that step back that Georgia is suggesting, even though she's right. It's just not dramatic. There's enough here in these character's to believe consent and authenticity.
@cherrickdinn No, she kissed a different version of her boyfriend who she also grew to love. The only way it would've been truly weird is if it wasn't another version of ekko.
I understood his line to be that it was the first time he kissed her, while for her, shes kissed Ekko before. I do also think she knows hes not the same one. But I suppose it could be that they kissed before and this time he wanted it to be like more special without directly saying "this is a goodbye kiss." I dont agree, but I do think this has as much merit as mine, seeing as there is a lot of missing info.
Looking at how much ekko sacrificed to save his world, and how much he suffered. For once he allowed himself to be selfish. A kiss from the person he loved since childhood and could never completely give up on her. It was like a reward for him.
This exactly how I felt. If anything, it made him feel more human. Not a super idealized hero but a person whose heart is in the right place and felt selfish in a moment.
None of it was his to sacrifice. He didn’t earn those relationships. He doesn’t know those people and they don’t know him beyond the surface. He didn’t belong…and he knew it. That was another man’s life to live, not his.
@@LifesDeath exactly, entertaining it was a choice at all was creepy, he took over another persons identity and then proceeded to not tell anyone, imposing himself into all of their safe spaces and taking advantage of the girl he likes by not revealing he's a different identity. The concent in that kiss is dubious and I'd personally feel kinda sick that someone wearing my close friends skin took advantage cause they had an infatuation. His prize for his efforts shouldn't be the opportunity to encroach into the life of the girl he likes, it should be his communities happiness and love for him, you know, things he actually made and earned from his continual work as a community leader. Ekko is extremely concioencious, he was incredibly out of character in season 2, he'd never revel in something so false
I think she knows this is another Ekko. Maybe not the exact circumstances, but she's reading all the same journals. Don't forget that Jinx is just as smart as he is. Hence her sadness when he says 'I promise I'll never forget this." She's also not super surprised when Cool Ekko shows up.
Saw someone mention it in another comment section so I thought I'd repeat it here. In a world filled with morally gray characters, Ekko stands out as the objective morally good character. He wants to protect his people, stop Silco from infesting Zaun with more Shimmer and just heal his tree from the the poision leaking out the Hextgates. It's a shame that he got the short end of the stick in his love life though. He did everything right, just the for the world to "take away" the one person he cared about the most. Truly heartbreaking
Ekko has an extreme distrust of Jinx as shown by his reflexive reaction to seeing the alternate Powder for the first time. His experience in the alternate universe allows him to view Jinx in a different light and seeing Silco forgive Vander shows hims its also possible to forgive and accept Jinx.
I hope we will see their relationship development in future series, Ekko and Jinx deserve a much better ending after everything they both went through and suffered. After the events that happened in Arcane, Ekko not giving up on Jinx and Jinx coming to terms with her sister and herself, as the beginning of her true healing process, I do believe Ekko and Jinx got a chance to start over with their relationship. We also got confirmation that creators are willing to continue Ekko and Jinx's story, so I hope we will see them again.
I get the grievance with Ekko kissing Powder, but I interpreted this as him fully indulging in the one thing he's always wanted but has been denied in his own life, even for the smallest moment. I feel like he - needed - to feel fulfillment of intimacy with Jinx. In his own way, I think reconciles this by stating "can we treat this like our first time" because it -is- his first time with her. Is it a moral and transparent action? Maybe not. Would I have done the same knowing it was probably my only chance? Absolutely. So I find Ekko very sympathetic in that scene.
Georgia! Hiemerdinger actually has accomplished much more than learn the banjo. He returned 3 years ago, so his version of himself would still be on the council, so Hiemerdinger is definitely the reason the bridge to Zaun is now a bustling town bringing people up, fixing the mistakes he made in the past. Due to what Ekko taught him.
Something I noticed about Jayce's half of episode 7 is that Jayce is going through everything that Viktor had gone through growing up. It showed him what it was like to be ignored most of the time and chased down for no reason at others. What it was like to have a leg that didn't work and minimal resources to adapt to that problem. What it's like to working hard for survival. If that theory is true, then Future/AU Viktor would have had to orchestrate that whole situation and his whole philosophy is about making people's lives easier. It doesn't really seem in his character not to explain what's going on right away and making Jayce struggle alone, especially since he lists him as the most important person in his life.
Almost all the character storylines bleed into one another at some point or another with different characters falling into relationship dynamics we see repeated throughout the series. The whole thing is genius and I think you'd need a crazy-person board of red-twine to trace all the ways characters wind up retreading each other's paths, making the same mistakes others have made even as they try and correct their past ones.
Episode 7 is a genuine masterpiece. I don't think there is a single wasted frame or moment. I've never been so enthralled and captivated by a show before.
I think it wasn't just a matter of having Ekko, rather all three genius minds were necessary. They needed the combined efforts of Ekko, Heimerdinger, and Powder to invent this version of hextech.
This is one of the few times where I agree with those that say this season was a bit too fast. I say this because it's never made clear that Heimerdinger is a large part of the reason for the Piltover/Zaun prosperity. So no, he wasn't just learning to play the banjo in those three years. Also, regarding whether or not Ekko is kissing Powder under false pretenses; while I don't disagree, it's heavily implied that by this point, she either knows or heavily suspects that this is not her Ekko.
Is he, though, or is it just that Singed never existed? That seems like the real breakpoint. No Singed, no shimmer and no Viktor learning enough to get into the Academy, so no Hextech, either.
@@nomadzophielSinged probably existed, it's just that Silco and Vander made up. Silco was the one who took shimmer and distributed it, and so since they made up he probably never went as far as mass producing and distributing shimmer. Singed was only experimenting with it to try and find a cure for his daughter. Once he finished the shimmer experiments he would have just moved on to the next experiment.
@@nomadzophiel Even with no Singed, or no Shimmer, that would have only gotten Zaun so far. There was still a large disparity in wealth between the two cities, and Piltover still looked down up Zaun, abused its people for profit, and the citizens generally saw them as less than them. But add in Heimerdinger, who experienced all of this first hand, and his position on the council? As they say, progress is a two way street... or bridge, in this case.
I think the real big killer of hextech is VI's death. Jayce had no chance in the alternate universe, and was likely banished from Piltover or imprisoned in Stillwater. Without Piltover benefiting from hextech, the weath disparity, while still there, isn't nearly as large as it became in the timeline we're familiar with. There's a whole combination of factors contributing to the much better state of the alternate universe's undercity compared to our timeline's undercity.
Those aren't swords. If you look back a couple scenes, you can see they are the arms of the clock tower of the smaller clock, love love love your content 😊
This! Yes! I was checking the comments to see if anyone else said this, but yeah they are the arms on the smaller clock, which I think its genious because it goes so well with his time ability, of course he would have that as a makeshift weapon! lol
For the kiss scene, there's no way Powder didn't realize that Ekko wasn't her Ekko. Him not knowing about Vi's death, him fixating on leaving so soon, his sudden need to build hextech, she's too smart to not know something isn't right. I think the scene where she looks at him in the anomaly was just closure not necessarily her realizing they were different.
Powder/jinx is very smart, Powder’s line “You better not.” And accepting the first time request implies she figured out he’s not the same Ekko, also I think it’s less about what he said to Jinx, but her noticing how burnt he is from experiencing that explosion multiple times, and his appearance says much more than his words.
13:20 I think it was hinted that Powder knew he was a different Ekko. There was a scene where she looks at his notes about alternate realities. Also she’s smart, she could see he’s different just based on his behavior, and the line “pretend like it’s the first time” also gives it away. I mean you could technically say that she cheated on Ekko with Ekko but no ones perfect 😂
Yeah I heard so too but upon seeing the part at ~ 10:58 it seems like she knows here and knows what ekko is hinting at and like she's also somewhat sad when telling him: sometimes taking a step forward means leaving a few things behind. Cause she knows she won't see him again.
This. I don’t think their conversation on the roof would make sense if Ekko and Powder didn’t have an understanding that Ekko was from a different universe. Ekko brought up how he dreamed of Zaun being like this world, and how he gave up on that and Powder, which from AU Powder’s perspective would make zero sense unless she knew or suspected. Also makes me think though Powder tried to get Ekko to not give up on his Powder by telling him she’s known him to not give up on anything.
I guess the kiss could be seen as him taking advantage of Powder. I think that's why he stopped himself at first. I do think the idea of him asking her to pretend it was the first time saved it. He could have easily just fully taken advantage of her, but he chose not to. Powder is a smart cookie that helped him build the device, I think she may have known a bit of what was happening. All of that being said, they had just spent almost a week in close proximity to each other, learning about each other, and building something together, plenty of couples have kissed for less. I think the idea of it being the 'first kiss' was appropriate.
I read that Ekko's dance scene was purposefully rendered in 4 frames per second, to go along with his ability to rewind 4 seconds into the past, symbolizing how he wanted to keep repeating that moment with Powder over and over forever.
I love Ekko so much! It was so interesting to see a “side character” be the main hero and I literally love him and his design so much. I’ve drawn him like a billion times. Over and over lol Edit: I also think that when it comes to the kiss powder had an inkling about what was going on. Maybe not the full truth. But I think she could tell that something was off. She’s really perceptive and I think she could kind of tell something was off. Especially with that line of “can we pretend it’s the first time” she didn’t really question that too much so I think she knew smth was up. Or maybe this is my wishful thinking because I really liked that scene lol.
I don't think thats wishful thinking. You would notice if someone else would be put in the body of a person you know very well. Even if its another version of that person I am sure of that. Our environment shapes us more than we like to admit. She knew something was off the first time Ekko looked at her like she is a ghost. And latest after she saw the other Version of Ekko and his notes she'd be able to put 2 and 2 together.
About the Kiss: we cansee his reason in two ways, 1. He wanted to be selfish for that one thing, getting to have a moment of peace with the person he always loved and knowing that he;ll never get it again. 2. or he doesn't wanna make powder confused, scared or worried about her echo and changed his mind after denying the kiss first... I'd agree with the first one and I really think he deserved that moment of peace
2:30 One interpretation of Heimerdinger's words "I've been able to accomplish wonderful things in this world" is that this world is so good BECAUSE of him : he got there with knowledge of how things were bad in Zaun, was still head of the council because Jayce didn't retire him here, so he took this opportunity to improve the city (and Silco wasn't a villain to mess it up).
"Oh, look who it is, The Boy Savior" Oh yes, he just not saved his world, his people, his friends, but also saved the same person who said that to him as an insult, but that in the end proved right, he is a savior, Ekko and Jinx for me are everything ❤
I agree 100% about the scene where Ekko saves Jinx should have been longer with the actual dialogue of what mader her change her mind. Because now we're just imagining things he could have said. Jinx being my favourite character and Ekko close second, I wish we would have had a longer scene with them.
I see TIMEBOMB, I like. You pointed out Ekko and the firelights have Jinx markings on them. But Jinx and her blimp also have Ekko's hourglass markings. There was a whole scene of the two of them painting each other that was cut.
Ekko is my top character. His final fight and ep 7 are something I can't get enough of. I watch reactions of ep 7 just so I can relive those emotions I felt by seeing others see it for the first time.
I see the kiss as his "we always have paris" moment, the one piece he chooses to take with him, that one night of perfect happines, that one dance, and that one kiss, but he still the responsible guy, he would want to go now more than ever now that he has seen what it could and possible still can be, to go and really try this time to save Zaun, to save his love interest, because we see him trying to bring a bit of the inner jinx inside of her, and he succeded, there is this idea that pink represents jinx and blue represents powder, and in this episode her nails are painted blue for most of the episode but at the end during the dance her nail are pink, indicating a bit of jinx got into her
Someone else may have already pointed this out, but the 'swords' that Ekko sees and latter uses are actually the hands of one of the clocks on the Hexgate tower.
Please can we get some analysis around jinx and ekko’s relationship - especially their alternate versions and how that stretches across into the main universe! Maybe one around Jinx’s growth between season 1 and 2 as well?
Those swords were the clock tower hands, you can see them right before the air ballon crashes into it and it's his main weapon besides the z drive in the actual game.
I absolutely love the Firelights design. Their symbol is 3 different things in one: a "Z" for Z Drive, the Firelight bug that they get their name from, and a tipping hourglass to represent Ekko's affinity with time. Such a simple logo that packs SO much meaning into it.
i am okay with the subtitle "can we pretend like it's the first time" because no mater what, he is still ekko, he's still the one she's been spending the last few days with
I LOVED that kiss scene between original Ekko and alt-Powder. And yes I’m glad it happened because for Ekko, as much as we know of him being this “perfect” person that’s always doing the right thing, we forget that he’s still human. Of course he’ll have moments of compromise especially when emotions were already so high in that moment when he said “Ever wish you could just stay in one moment?” He ALMOST gave in to the urge to stay like Heimerdinger, but alt-Powder being the best girl had to remind him “Sometimes taking a leap forward means leaving a few things behind.” That statement gave him back the resolve to return to his world and save his people..and save Jinx. Damn this got me in my feelings again.🤧
About the kiss, there's been some debate over whether Powder began to pick up on hints and queues, possibly deducing some things he's said and done, up to this point. Even asking "can we pretend like it's the first time" could possibly be another hint he drops. Powder is quick to pick up on things as well as solve problems. So, just an idea I've sat on regarding the kiss as well. The "swords" are the smaller arms of the clock tower.
"People waste a lot of time. Then they wish for more. They want more hours in their days. More days in their years. More years in their lives. As if they had all that extra time, they could fix any mistake. I don't need hours or days or years. I only need seconds." - Ekko, in his champion release trailer titled, accordingly, "Seconds"
14:55 The voice acting for Ekko is on point. The AU Ekko is significantly less traumatized and jaded and battled hardened and for the one line this Ekko speaks you can hear it. When he says "powder, what happened," he sounds like an innocent teenager who doesnt know what happened but can see Powder's face, hes really concerened and confused. Really makes me appreciate that what these teens and kids had gone through would be a lot even for grown adults to hanlde.
One of the best Superman stories is very similar in concept to this. "For the man who has everything" Batman and Wonder Woman visit supes on his birthday and find him trapped by a plant called the Black Mercy, where it literally traps you in your hearts desire. Superman has a family he loves, on Krypton as just a normal person. When he eventually gets out the villain says getting out, "must have been like ripping off your own arm". Not only did Superman escape to save the day, he didn't shy away from the family in it either, fully embracing them even though they weren't technically real and losing them would be agony.
Btw the “sword” Ekko uses is actually one of the hands of one of those big clocks. You can actually see it for a super quick second before he crashes into the building
18:57 Those are Ekko’s swords from the _League of Legends_ game, and can be seen as hands on the clocktower just before Ekko crashes the balloon into it.
I love the premise that he was the hero, but also the catalyst for the anomaly, when he realized that the outcome of him telling the gang about the gemstones being the missing piece, he felt the weight of the two sisters lives in the balance as well.
I absolutely may be wrong, but I got the impression he had let Powder know amidst the working together montage. It felt, to me in this context, that she got swept up in the moment, and went in for the kiss. When he recoiled, she seemed impossibly understanding if she thought that was her boyfriend. It felt more like "I totally understand how weird this is for you" to me. Then, he asked if they could pretend it's the first time, she is so tender, which also felt in support of my initial thought. Or, I'm just wrong
just cos you asked at 18:56, and for anyone that read this to know how badass ekko is At the minute 18:35 in this video we see that when he crashes the air balloon, he crashes on a clock, so he saw that all of them were in danger and about to crash, and in seconds he was able to look at everything around him, but saw those blue hands of the clock we see here 18:29(stop if necessary, is actually there) (Also i think that is a metaphor for how he is some kind of fighter of time, cos he uses time to fight, and to say that he broke the entire clock "rules" by making it go back, and how he doesn't really needs a clock, cos he is the one that says the moment it actually is, so he is the one that is moving the clock hands)
The scene at the celebration, when Powder & Ekko dance, its the most beautiful scene in the entire series, but it ABSOLUTELY breaks my heart, because Jinx is so broken, & i loved seeing Powder happy so much, i actually teared up.
My favorite behind the scenes of tip of the dance between echo and powder is that it’s shot in 4 frames a second which is the exact time echo can go back. My thought was that it’s echos thoughts wanting the stay in the moment forever.
I believe that when Ekko, Powder, and Heimderdinger sat down in the bar to talk about what they wanted to do, they would have explained to Powder that they were both from an alternatie timeline. After that scene we see Powder by Vi's shrine in tears, probably feeling very emotional after hearing about the world that this Ekko has come from, and also scared about the possibility that her Ekko would be lost to her if they cannot find a way to send Ekko and Heimerdinger home. It's also just a lot to take in, learning that alternate timelines exist. It would explain why her response to Ekko saying he wishes he could live in one moment forever, is not to encourage him by saying the two of them will have many more moments just like this one, or some other romantic line. But instead a bitter sweet encouragement, that some things have to be left behind every time you take a big leap forward. The following line about how he promises to never forget this also makes sense. It's a goodbye. And they both know it. When Ekko pulls back from the kiss, Powder is completely understanding. She doesn't act confused, she accepts that he may not feel right doing this, either because his own feelings aren't as strong, or because he doesn't want to feel like he is an imposter, taking advantage of the relationship a different Ekko has with Powder. But by asking if they can pretend like it's the first time, he lets Powder know that he does genuinely want to kiss her, but not because she's done this so many times before. He doesn't want to enjoy the benefits of a different Ekko's relationship. He wants it to be honest, and real. And Powder understands that, and I believe she knows that despite kissing lips she's kissed many, many times before, this is the first (and perhaps only) kiss she will share with this Ekko.
18:55 these are the clock arms from the tower they just crashed into. You can actually see the clock on the tower the moment before they crash into it.
13:20 - People theorise that Powder knew he was a different Ekko. She's not dumb, she saw that research and there are specific frames when she looks suspicious - the one with Ekko's notes (mainly the note with the picture of two people mirroring each other) and the shot of them when Ekko scuplts the monkeys. And there's the fact that when you know someone that well, you kinda see if something is off with them, right? And combining those two facts it looks like she pretty much knew what was going on. It's fortiche we're speaking about - they always put bits and pieces in the visual part of the storytelling. They wouldn't just put those frames there if it weren't for a reason AND! The swords you mentioned are just clockhands from the clock tower u see as they crash into with Jinx's lair. You can see them right when the scene happens.
Aweisme video, and I think what Ekko said to Jinx when saving her worked because it was Ekko and all the different context behind their relationship, in juxtaposition when Vi said it and it didn't work. Schnee explains it really well in his video "How Ekko redefines time". Honestly it's surprising how well these video played off of each other in my mind haha, I saw one after the other.
You’re right Heimer😂dinky did not want to leave… and being that his race is immortal and returns to their homeland tree every time they die… but does that mean that there will be two Heimerdinkies in that world or does he return to the tree of the original? I personally want Heimirdinky to be happy and love in his new world
Yeah the cool thing about the “swords” are in an earlier bit before he crashes into the clocktower the tiny clock hands right by the big clock break apart and he uses those at his weapon.😊 the boy who shattered using hands on a clock as a weapon is just so cool
"That device can't be" When someone thinks themselves to know everything, they get blindsided when someone with a different perspective is capable of more than they thought was possible. I think it helped to knock some sense into Viktor, that he wasn't omniscient.
Ekko sticks out to me as the one character able to live in the moment. He dosen''t remeniss about his past too much unlike Vi and Jinx, but when he does, he learns from it, cherishes it and moves on. He's not stuck in the future either like Viktor, Jayce or Heimerdinger was. In the end of the show he has gained so much clarity over his past mistakes but also on how a future could look for him and his community. Embracing how his past have molded him he fights for a brighter future.
I love the white streaks you put in your hair, they look *gorgeous*. The jacket is nice too, very comfortable looking - like I would want to keep it after the cosplay just for winter temps cause it seems so warm n' cozy!
People have suggested that part of the reason the other reality is so good is Heimer actually was helping set things up for Ekko those three years. Notice how no one was surprised he was around. What he is is a spirit of an area, he realized he failed Zaun in his reality, this reality gave him the ability to help fix things in a way he couldn't see in main arcane. As for Ekko and his move with the other Powder. I don't think that was wrong per say. She figures it out, I think after the Vi portrait, because she's quite clever too. I think in a way that relationship was doomed so other Powder could have the supportive partner she needed to not be scared anymore to use her genius and her curiousity that had killed Vi. She became risk adverse. This Ekko was able to tell her his Jinx was brilliant and show her in their working together she is still brilliant. This'll still work out because, fundamentally, her Ekko knows that he just has no reason to think he needs to say that. But she needed our Ekko to break the still water. Ekko on the other hand... He needed hope. He could not believe in Jinx anymore after so long. She destroyed him time and time again. He saw the Jinx in the other Powder but she also reminded him of what Powder was still there in Jinx. It will take a lifetime to help Jinx, if he even can, but I don't think Ekko can move on from Powder. That other reality gave his a view of better. It is so hard to be optimistic... When every time you do things just get destroyed. And before that... His father died. Powder became Jinx. Vi couldn't fix things. The situation with Piltover and Zaun became worse. Then finally his little oasis was poisoned. It's not entirely fair to either of their other partners but... It was a kiss, a moment, a could have been that could never be between two people of different universes. I'd give it a pass. Other Powder would never want to date our Ekko, she just thinks he's cool. And Ekko wouldn't know what to do with Other Powder, he was never comfortable there. He doesn't belong with her.
18:55 Those are the clockhands from the same clocktower they just crashed into. Also they are the same as the one Ekko uses in game and has had since his release 2015. As far as I know they don't have any special types of power other than that they fit Ekko really well with his theme of time!
I get what you mean by him kissing her without INFORMED consent. It's like if a body snatcher traded places. Kind of creepy when you frame it that way. I do think it is harmless overall and she loves ekko in every timeline I would imagine.
The scene that is missing from the show that they cut out solves your issues at the 17 minute mark. The scene is them painting each others outfits. It was there. It was cut, but blue ray should fix it. Great point!!!
19:00 The swords these are from the clock (clock hands). The original lore from ekko is that he went to piltover and stole them. After that he used them for fights. btw they look like in the game.
Im so happy you uploaded this! I know you’ve done a video about Viktor in season 1 but are you planning on doing him for season 2? Or Jayce Season 2? Either way I’d be excited to see it.
2:35 I think it's a really good way of depicting the way yordles do things. They don't want to do big things to change the world. They are like spirits that flock to and inspire specific passions in others. He's not going to break the timeline. That's not his thing.
Heimerdinger has what we all wished we had; being in the past with the knowledge of the mistakes we made. He doesn't just learn music - he performs it. He's learned how to connect, and is relishing in it
From what I understand, Jinx tries to kill herself no matter what Ekko says, she only stops when she sees the device that Ekko was carrying and sees similarities in the things she creates. About Ekko's sword, in your video at 18:29, you can see that the sword is actually the hands of a clock.
thank you for seeing Ekko! Hes really vell written and i think hes just the best! My fav Ekko Moment is the 4 sec to save his love/friend/enemy from killing herself. That hes still able to see all the good Jinx is able to do for her ppl. I think it is kinda a moment were Jinx is accually Powder since she helps as she always wanted and doesnt jinx a thing but saves her sister and herself. I really hope she and Ekko talked befor she got in the airship and that we dont have a mirror szene from the one as Ekko gets back in his universe…
Heimerdinger subtly (and very vaguely) warns him to not let them know he is from a different dimension. Something like "One cannot go shouting from rooftops about different dimensions without awkward consequences". I think he took that to heart, although he wasn't trying very hard to hide it either.
7:31 Absolutely.... I didn't think about it when I first saw the episode... but immediately after the episode while I was thinking about what happened and before watching the next one, I thought "wait... he really left that connection unplugged?? He's really that absent minded?!?"
Ekko is indeed the true hero of Arcane! I think what's interesting about Ekko is there is not a wasted second. While he may not have as much screen time as we wanted him to be, every time he IS on screen he is getting shit done, he is being a powerful force for good, he is an active hero. I love him! Also I think Heimerdinger is a villain through neglect. He was in power in Piltover through all the hardships and allowed it all to rot under his guidance. For him to just go 'sure I'll steal this life and stay here' is another sign of selfishness.
13:20 so in that moment i think jinx knew that ekko was not "her ekkko", she was helping them get back to their reality and actually noticed what they were doing because shes smart as hell. another note, its possible that powder re-invented the z-drive to go see her sister again and ended up being the one to save jinx. (or ekko saved jinx who knows)
I want to say, she knows he’s from a different universe. When they were doing montage of them building Time Machine, she reads Ekko’s notes and that’s why she looked at Ekko when she’s on the couch. But I love your videos!
Heimerdinger got turned into dust… he didn’t get to stay in that world to play his banjo. I think he knew what was going to happen - he’s not dumb. That’s why he essentially thanked Ekko for the time. Also, I want to say that while I don’t think it’s confirmed by any means, but Heimerdinger saying he’s accomplished wonderful things… you have to realize he clearly joined while on the council, and in my brain (and others), I thought he actually helped some in the unification of the underground with topside. It has been 3 years after all. I genuinely think he was a part of that after realizing he did nothing in the other universe to help it as a councillor. I think he did more than just “learning the banjo and enjoying life.” Powder seemed to already have an idea that it wasn’t her Ekko, even if it’s subconscious. She was looking at notes and such, and she’s obviously smart and understood that suddenly this Ekko is dreaming about a different Vi, a different Powder, a different world, he’s not understanding who is dead and who isn’t, who are friends, the fact he can suddenly dance some, etc. Then, of course, the asking for a kiss like it’s the first time too. I think she was smart enough to piece together that something was off about him, and I think she was just surprised to see the second Ekko floating there, but I think she still understood as a whole. Ekko’s words to Jinx weren’t the biggest, but I think the biggest bit to that scene is Jinx seeing his device and the fact it had those little monkeys in it. That was the important part to notice. I do wish you had talked about some of the scenes where Ekko and Jayce speak as those are very interesting moments in my opinion.
The reason why when ekko and powder dance in 4 frames per second is becuase its supposed to relate to the z-drive that ekko has and how he wanted to just replay this moment over and over and over again but couldnt
18:56 Those are actually clock hands! We see them a couple of times in the background during the battle on the clock of the hexgates, as well as in the alternative universe Jayce was in :)
I think what at least allows jinx to hear echo out is when she looked at the device and sees the Monkees in it possibly reminding her of when they were kids and Friends

The swords are Ekkos weapon ingame. They are the pointer from the giant clock from the tower in which they crashed their plane in. *Edit Afaik they have no specific powers except time being his theme.
Miss Georgia! I'm answering here to try to make sure you see it. Ekko's sword is the long hand from the clock tower they crash into! 🤗
About the "swords" after Ekko crashes the airship, that's the cool thing. They're NOT swords. They're the tower's clock's hour and minute hands.
so good ! thanks
Yes, visible in @18:36, the smaller inner watchface has these.
Exactly! You can see the clock before they crash into it! It’s there for a brief second.
And on that note, I just realized the paint on his face is an hour glass.
They are actually the smaller handles of the chronometer, which is a watch that has passed strict precision tests and is certified to measure time with high accuracy, higher than a standard watch.
"A strong man stands up for himself a stronger man stands up for others"-Ben Barnyard
beautiful yes thank you for that apt quote
You're welcome
@@GeorgiaDowhi, so about the swords their actually not swords at all. You can see in an earlier fran that they are the arms of a clock for the large one. You have the large one for the hours and then the smaller one though I don’t really know for what. In about like 6 frames as Ekko glides by you can actually see them whole. But yea, they’re just clock arms (though truly fitting for the boy saviour)
Though sorry if I may be preaching to the Choir and if somebody else explained it a while ago. But thanks for this video😊
@@dragonova279 you can see the irony in season 2 that time is his weapon that actually helps him save everyone and everything
Arguably, I don't think Ekko has any wasted time on screen. Like, every second he's there, he's making an impact and what he's doing has value in the story.
This actually ties in very well with his league of legends character introduction video, where he says "If you don't make the most of the time you have, you don't deserve a single extra second."
... every second ... ekkos z drive... I see what you did there
@@GeorgiaDow"if you can't make the most out of any given moment, you don't deserve a single extra second"
- Ekko (in his release trailer)
literally, in my opinion, none of the characters wasted time on screen
"It's not how much time you have, it's how you use it." - Ekko
I don't get why they used time with the prison scene over jinx and ekko
Also, Powder's Ekko doesn't dance, and Jinx's does.
I was gonna comment this too! I'm glad someone got to it before me because I did not want to type it all out on my phone lmao
Also after seeing it here she seems a little sad about telling ekko the you must leave a few things behind line at 10:58
As if she knows she won't see him again. Maan this got me right in the feels
To add to this, Ekko drew the Vi that this Powder never saw (by the tree)
Also yeah, it's been confirmed by the creators that ekko did tell jinx about her AU self, it just got cut. Same with him taking her back to the firelights base, them bonding some more and etc.
bonding like cait and vi in jail?
@@JoelChenFa We hope...
i figured he had to have told her by then since it is an odd thing to say but she didnt question it. she immediately understood. she was also not surprised by the second ekko. in awe, but not surprised. besides, she would have had to have known the purpose of science to actually help them.
@@WingZeroCustom001I mean they were already slowly forgiving her when she became a symbol. She broke Scar out or prison too
2:10 I reckon the reason why Heimerdinger hasn't figured a way out of this universe is due to the fact that his species has a longer lifespan than us humans, so his sense of urgency is very different.
Powder helps him save the world, and he saves her life.
aww
Ekko
I wonder if Ekko went to Jinx's hideout, or he just reappeared there.
he was able to save her in other ways though.
So she's knowingly kissing someone who isn't her boyfriend. Yeah that's not any better.
@cherrickdinn No, she kissed a different version of her boyfriend who she also grew to love.
The only way it would've been truly weird is if it wasn't another version of ekko.
This is nothing but over-obsessed fan speculation with no basis in reality.
I understood his line to be that it was the first time he kissed her, while for her, shes kissed Ekko before.
I do also think she knows hes not the same one.
But I suppose it could be that they kissed before and this time he wanted it to be like more special without directly saying "this is a goodbye kiss."
I dont agree, but I do think this has as much merit as mine, seeing as there is a lot of missing info.
Looking at how much ekko sacrificed to save his world, and how much he suffered. For once he allowed himself to be selfish. A kiss from the person he loved since childhood and could never completely give up on her. It was like a reward for him.
that is a sweet way to look at it = )
This exactly how I felt. If anything, it made him feel more human. Not a super idealized hero but a person whose heart is in the right place and felt selfish in a moment.
@@GeorgiaDoware you going to be making a video about Viktor and Jayce anytime soon? I really wanna see your thoughts on them in season 2.
Yeah also damn let my boy be happy for 5 seconds!
@@luvamiart8567 Gosh dang you're hitting me in the feels bud 😂 💔
It doesn't really seem in his character not to explain what's going on right away and making Jayce struggle alone, especially since he lists him as the most important person in his life.
great catch
This! Yes! I was checking the comments to see if anyone else said this, but yeah they are the arms on the smaller clock, which I think its genious because it goes so well with his time ability, of course he would have that as a makeshift weapon! lol
@@RinUsamaki It is also kinda easter egg from the game League of legends because that is his actual weapon.
I'm glad someone else caught that!
Yep
It's like if a kid took an arm from big ben and started using it to save the world
18:28 in this video, not the main clock but the hands of a smaller clock in the top right.
The fact that he spontaneously, for no apparent reason, threw an object at her.
Over and over lol
Edit: I also think that when it comes to the kiss powder had an inkling about what was going on.
19:02 The Swords are, I think, just the hands of the clock they crashed into. Which is a very on the nose visual metaphor.
Yes you can see them at 18:28
About the Kiss: we cansee his reason in two ways, 1.
Ekko has given up a lot, lost a lot, let him be selfish for once and kiss Powder. Let him just once.
17:39
When ekko drops out of the balloon the lyrics say "you're not alone" and thats such a neat detail...
I see the kiss as his "we always have paris" moment, the one piece he chooses to take with him, that one night of perfect happines, that one dance, and that one kiss, but he still the responsible guy, he would want to go now more than ever now that he has seen what it could and possible still can be, to go and really try this time to save Zaun, to save his love interest, because we see him trying to bring a bit of the inner jinx inside of her, and he succeded, there is this idea that pink represents jinx and blue represents powder, and in this episode her nails are painted blue for most of the episode but at the end during the dance her nail are pink, indicating a bit of jinx got into her
Ekko is a pretty dope character perfect analysis and cosplay as always
thanks and he really is !
@ Not to mention he is criminally underrated !
Perfect for this Friday
Someone else may have already pointed this out, but the 'swords' that Ekko sees and latter uses are actually the hands of one of the clocks on the Hexgate tower.
Please can we get some analysis around jinx and ekko’s relationship - especially their alternate versions and how that stretches across into the main universe!
Maybe one around Jinx’s growth between season 1 and 2 as well?
Those swords were the clock tower hands, you can see them right before the air ballon crashes into it and it's his main weapon besides the z drive in the actual game.
Waited for the Ekko video! The Boy Savior!
S1 Jinx: "woo boy savior (sarcasm)"
S2 Jinx: "you are my boi savior!!
I absolutely love the Firelights design. Their symbol is 3 different things in one: a "Z" for Z Drive, the Firelight bug that they get their name from, and a tipping hourglass to represent Ekko's affinity with time. Such a simple logo that packs SO much meaning into it.
The holes in the glove at 4:19 are absolute genius (I'm guessing they're there so u can touch the screen?) and your costume is amazing as always!
Your deduction on the difference in perspective due to life span, is spot on.
i am okay with the subtitle "can we pretend like it's the first time" because no mater what, he is still ekko, he's still the one she's been spending the last few days with
I LOVED that kiss scene between original Ekko and alt-Powder.
Every time Ekko rewinds time with his z drive more than 4 seconds into the past, a Himmerdinger of another reality is swallowed by the void
20:35 I never thought about that, now I imagine Heimer talking to some kids at the fireflies camp and suddenly exploding for seemingly no reason lmao
I only need seconds."
- Ekko, in his champion release trailer titled, accordingly, "Seconds"
I've been so excited for the Ekko video! Always feels good to watch one of your videos. Thank you for making these videos so personal and inviting!
Ekko appreciation videos are always a treat
One of the best Superman stories is very similar in concept to this. "For the man who has everything"
Batman and Wonder Woman visit supes on his birthday and find him trapped by a plant called the Black Mercy, where it literally traps you in your hearts desire.
I love Ekko! He's one of my favorite characters
just cos you asked at 18:56, and for anyone that read this to know how badass ekko is
At the minute 18:35 in this video we see that when he crashes the air balloon, he crashes on a clock, so he saw that all of them were in danger and about to crash, and in seconds he was able to look at everything around him, but saw those blue hands of the clock we see here
18:29(stop if necessary, is actually there)
(Also i think that is a metaphor for how he is some kind of fighter of time, cos he uses time to fight, and to say that he broke the entire clock "rules" by making it go back, and how he doesn't really needs a clock, cos he is the one that says the moment it actually is, so he is the one that is moving the clock hands)
Ekko is definitely my favorite character. Its sad we dont see him much at all. Hes called The Boy Savior but he couldnt Save his screentime 😔😔
Maybe the kiss was what the needed to have the resolve to go back and save Jinx in his world. A glimpse of hope for what happiness could be with Jinx.
They wouldn't just put those frames there if it weren't for a reason
AND!
19:10 they're clock hands, not actually a sword and more fitting
I love the white streaks you put in your hair, they look *gorgeous*. The jacket is nice too, very comfortable looking - like I would want to keep it after the cosplay just for winter temps cause it seems so warm n' cozy!
ha thank you so much. And I am keeping he jacket I really like it that's why I didn't paint the pink x on it ekko has later though I wanted to
knew he’d be my favourite ever since his first scene in episode one. man, was i pleasantly surprised by how his character was handled
I never realized until now that Ekko’s face paint is an hourglass, foreshadowing his time travel abilities.
16:05 oh yeah, there was a scene about Ekko telling jinx about the other Powder but it was cut out.
15:00 “I… cheated on you.” 💀
hah oh
I get what you mean by him kissing her without INFORMED consent. It's like if a body snatcher traded places. Kind of creepy when you frame it that way.
I do think it is harmless overall and she loves ekko in every timeline I would imagine.
The weapon the Echo uses in the last fight are clock hands. You can see them here 18:29 on the tower
The scene that is missing from the show that they cut out solves your issues at the 17 minute mark. The scene is them painting each others outfits. It was there. It was cut, but blue ray should fix it. Great point!!!
19:00 The swords
these are from the clock (clock hands).
The original lore from ekko is that he went to piltover and stole them. After that he used them for fights.
btw they look like in the game.
Im so happy you uploaded this! I know you’ve done a video about Viktor in season 1 but are you planning on doing him for season 2? Or Jayce Season 2? Either way I’d be excited to see it.
oh yes oh yes
21:22 Kate jumpscare wth
Episode 7 made me cry like most of the season 2 episodes, but it was such a different flavor/context. That keening what could have been... man.
thank you for seeing Ekko!
Something like
"One cannot go shouting from rooftops about different dimensions without awkward consequences".
I think he did more than just “learning the banjo and enjoying life.”
Powder seemed to already have an idea that it wasn’t her Ekko, even if it’s subconscious.
