not anyone, when the blade hit the rod, there's a chance of the blade might rotate due to impact if the user doesn't has enough grip but if you're using too much power on gripping, your arm will go stiff and that's pretty much make the sword slower with lower power. Have any of you guys actually worked with sheet metal? .4mm is thin, but with sheet metal, that is a hell of a lot sturdier than you guys think it is. Japanese smiths spend years working on a single katana and fold it up to a million times to produce the finest blades known to mankind. Even in World War II, American soldiers targeted the men with the katanas first because their killing power was feared and respected. So what am I saying? Not to mention that plate armor is often underestimated in fiction, as cutting through hardened, possibly grooved steel, and maile is simply impossible. Cutting the joints and more vulnerble spots, such as the back of the legs, sometimes the neck, the underarm, and the face are the most effective places to target. Apocalyptic Knights It can even cut lead. There's that video of a katana slicing through a bullet. This makes the katana as good as a butter knife in that regard.
dude ..to cut with a sword that aluminum foil is hard ....if you try that wrong it can stuck ..i'm not sure how thick that aluminium foi is ..i don't know if that is aluminum either.
This is quality steel, not aluminium, it is very elastic and continues to vibrate many seconds after the strike. Aluminium has almost no elasticity, once bent, it stays bent. Even low grade stainless steel will deform plastically much rather than elastically. Just goes to show that you don't know anything about the most basic properties of common metals rsp. metal alloys.
The power of the katana is beyond logic. The edge is smaller than light particles, and the strength and hardness of it is stronger than any diamond. An M1 Abrams tank would be sliced like paper by this blade. Incredible....
Vitor Rodrigues And the reason for that phrase is an homage, since Bolo Yeung, who plays Chong Li, is also in Enter the Dragon, where he plays the character...Bolo.
True, this does not demonstrate cutting ability of an European knight's armour. Its just a plain sheet of steel but the thickness is the same used for knight's armour. What gives strength to knight's armour is that it is curved to fit a human's body. It is harder to cut a curved surface. I saw another video comparing European long sword and katana. Both swords cannot cut a knight's armour but both can pierce the armour. The katana can pierce deeper than the long sword.
Guys, It's just a style of sword. The Tamahagane used in traditional Katana (Or so the sources I found state) is pig steel/iron, and it's folded 10 times to make it harder and sharper, but it's still brittle. Plus, the guy who just cut that plate has also cut an airsoft BB and an arrow out of the air. It's... really hard to question his skill and at this point it feels like you're just trying to discredit the feat rather than enjoy how clean that cut was.
Katanas aren't brittle instead it's the european swords that are brittle because of elasticity of the spring steel use, however katanas bend and chip easier than european swords
Mild steel, the pipe is thin section also. Mild steel can be cut with ease. Up to 1mm you can go with tin-snips, beyond there are shear tools for cutting up to 8mm by hand, and there are hydraulic version of shears for up to 20mm. For 0.4mm you can go with regular household scissors. The pipe seems like 0.5-1mm

***** Yup, convinient to carry and elegant status simbol of the nobility. Long live the pollaxe! One of the rare examples of sward being used as a primary weapon was gladius. That was the sword that have built an empire, shouldn't then gladius be called a "GREATEST SWORD EVA!!!"?
Agreed, pilum was also an excellent war implement, but my point was that it's a single instance that I could think of that sward have been used as a primary weapon by a major army. I do not consider Celtic warriors to be an army by the way.
the sheet looks like 18-20ga galvanized steel, same stuff ducting in housing is made of & the pipe looked to be electrical conduit, (not much thicker then the sheet metal).
There are also cheap copper based metals that are silver and look like steel (think like old toy hand cuffs). That pipe could have been just about anything. Offcourse if the specific type and grade of metal was listed on the video it would be cool if a Japanese speaker would translate it. Also the WW2 myth of swords cutting machine guns is complete nonsense and was tested thoroughly on mythbusters. Not dissing on swordsmen (I practice some Kendo as well as hema) and people have a really hard time acknowledging that swords simply have limitations. Some do great things, but great things for a sword are not impossible or miraculous.
This is a message for every idiot who does not get the meaning of this video. This video is showing his skills and not the quality of the katana. He is is proving that he can cut through the foil, without bending it.
Oh yeah ! be amazed watching hard metal cut trough soft metal...Any sword made to cut can do this, and you cant tell the blade has dulled a bit in the video. You know what would be impressive ? To see his katana flex 70º.
u clearly never tried to cut that to say such stupidity... and in case u havent noticed the amazing fact here isnt how strongly it cuts, its how much precision he has lol.. be more observant next time moron.. this dumb people make facts on looks lol! while building my own garage i had to use those sheets. And its fukin harder than it looks. i bet u cut 4 sheets and ur already tired.. u have the beard of a goat and the brains too
Sharp hard piece of steel cutting through a thin piece of soft steel. Weebs would literally cream themselves looking at lathe machining videos then I guess.
It has nothing to do with the katana (except for its profound cutting ability); Isao Machii is another superhuman with the ability to anticipate far beyond normal human capabilities and thus be able to cut a metal plate with a katana, so congratz Isao.
MadChatter17 If a normal person would slice that, it would cut through but due to the lack to anticipation of trajectory it will only slice halfway and stop at the middle.
It is just technique. It is not power, but angle and motion, and using the blades natural curve. The blade is not damaged because so much of the blade was used to slice it, not brute forcing through it from one small area. Any curved steel blade with proper technique could do just as well.
ryuka 生活のためのおたく Oh come on, they would rather go into combat with other weapons rather than katanas. This shows alot, and even for the samurai katanas weren't the best weapons, let alone other cultures.
ryuka 生活のためのおたく True but there is nothing amazing or better about the katana than other swords. Steel wise, any metallurgist will confirm this, authentic katanas were actually pretty bad. At that time and age probably the worst steel around. Thats why they had to fold it to get rid of impurities. Everyone else long since had proper furnaces and good iron sources making folding and jacketing redundant. Modern production swords use modern alloys even if they use authentic methods (for artistic and traditionalism purposes). This guy's sword is a modern production and is a katana only in name based on its familiar geometry. Same steel in any other sword geometry cuts just as well. Modern cutting exhibition swords are much harder than authentic ones. Tests done on 19th century swords typically score them around 48 RHC where as modern production goes over 56.

Somewhere there's the spirit of a real samurai crying into his sake.
This guy would have been a legend if he was born in the sengoku period
why?.. because he can hit a stationary target?
megadeth22885 "why?.. because he can hit a stationary target?"
isao Machii can hit more than stationary targets- /watch?v=7Yy-8Id1svc Very trivial, but still impressive.

I like this guy, he's got a real talent.
Can it also cut through aluminium foil? Can it bisect pipe dreams? If so, this must be magic!
Same results achieved by Threng when he used a $250 norman sword... same exact test....
+Simon Dean name of the video ?
+Ckyntosh Try looking up Theng and Thrand's channel call Theng and Thrand and look in their test cutting section. It's a cool video.
All of them were trained by Bbillyk himself. The man, the myth, the legend
0:43 "Whoa! Look at how cheap this steel is!"
elegance in power... what a beauty...
He could slice through a torso leaving no visible sign of entry wound for the initial 3 seconds. . Deadly swordsman; respect earned.
Are you out of your mind? Unless your Gregor Clegane there's no way your going to slice someone in half.
They are making a big scene out of nothing!
The challenge was to perfectly cut different things without it bending a little this guy you just watch did that cut a bullet coming at him at 500mph
Christopher Turner I'm talking about this Sword
Azar Mohamed oh :/
Azar Mohamed the katana is the sharpest sword in history and your saying its not impressive?
+Azar Mohamed OFF CURSE ITS NOTHING ..I BET YOU CAN DO THE SAME ..BECAUSE IT IS NOTHING !
i guess by the looks of it, the metal/steel was made in china
madhavan suresh steel is steel dumbass
Naa Productions so many weebs in this comment section lol
Patrick Franco im fucking asian dumbass
Naa Productions that's how a weeb would reply
Patrick Franco guessing by your name im guessing for fucking haspanic
"WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA"
Odin from Final Fantasy called. He wants his technique back (Zantetsuken).
FFIV?
We will replay it from every angle?
Editor : yes.
Underrated comment
“Supa su-row camura’” lmao
I want to see a Katana cut through another Katana, then I will believe in superpowers xd
My favorite part was when he used the sword.
It's amazing how dramatic they make everything look, it's hilarious. Someone could drink from a cup and they would be going fucking crazy over it.
The power of the katana is beyond logic. The edge is smaller than light particles, and the strength and hardness of it is stronger than any diamond. An M1 Abrams tank would be sliced like paper by this blade. Incredible....
What?????NooooooOOOOOoooo!!!!!!
But the edge is extremely brittle
and you're a fag who can't enjoy an amazing video because you are in love with some video game :D
btw even if you troll you fail hard there is not such thing as light particles IQfanboy
trevipp Too late moron you already got trolled when you answered the first time.
So cutting through flimsy sheet metal and a thin conduit pipe does this sword no justice.
impressively clean cut on metal but not so surprising that it's possible
Dang he hit it so hard it replayed 5 times
This is one of the coolest things I have seen
The Mythbusters hates this video xD
Fuckin' destrooooyed that tinfoil. Now we'll never be able to keep our food fresh.
That katana is really well made. I wonder how much time it took to make a sword like that.
His skills is the biggest factor
Deffinitely a masamune. An expensive katana couldn't cut an steel pipe in 2 hits.
How many weeaboos are watching this?
you must be 12 and think filthy frank is your life?
Not exactly. I'm talking about weeaboos, not people that like anime. (i like anime)
i was joking man, but sorry if it affended you i like anime too btw
Lol.......................... WEEB CANCER
You are a weeaboo, i can tell by how you type, no offence.
A philosopher once taught me a wise saying:
"Brick not hit back".
"Boards dont hit back" -Bruce Lee
It's actually a Chong Li quote from Bloodsport, although the phrase itself its a reference to Enter the Dragon.
Vitor Rodrigues
And the reason for that phrase is an homage, since Bolo Yeung, who plays Chong Li, is also in Enter the Dragon, where he plays the character...Bolo.
Vitor Rodrigues accidents can happen
Vitor Rodrigues Isn't that just common logic? xD
regendaly brade forded 10000 time made flom nipion steer cut thlough gajin tank in one srice
*tanku
Is that in reference to Gaijin?
fuck you
myxmyXmYxMyx Yosmine
:^)
I imagined you wearing a set of fake buck teeth, thick glasses and squinting your eyes really hard when you said that.
Damn, a sharp, dense metal-ish object flying at high speed could cut through a thin piece of metal! WHAT A SURPRISE!
Notice how thin the metal is, a fucking Bowie knife could cut it.
Shadow's Gaming You should have see me yelling at my monitor "IT'S A FUCKING TINFOIL SHEET!" XD
Shadow's Gaming a great sword can brake a katana in half so them cuting papper thin metal is not really impresive
***** i wouldnt bet on that i splited a machette with an axe so pretty sure a sword can to if given enough force
***** i think it depend on how tick the blade is and how strong the one hiting his
***** a machette not as tough as a good sword lol and you really never broke a sword by hiting thing with it?
ショート見てこっち来たら、鉄パイプやし、そもそも日本のテレビやし
鉄板ていうから工事現場にあるぐらいの厚みあるか思ったら0,4mmとか薄いしw
No country can express astonishment and amazement like the Japanese. "Whoooooaaahhhh!!!"
ITTORYU!!
The first cut is just amazing
Erick Aguirre You mean a simple downwards chop? That's something you don't even need skill for.
+Letum Mors you are wrong.
Letum Mors No, I mean the one in 00:03
Erick Aguirre
Yes that one is good.
but can he cut steel beams
+Guranga93 u mad bro ?? what do u think about katana, light saber?
+A hero For fun dont let the cutting of steel beams be dreams m8
+Guranga93 Don't let your dreams be memes.
+A hero For it has to cut steel beams m8
Can any sword cut thru a steal beam😂😂 I don’t think so
Guys, It's just a style of sword.
@@alexanderK2700 An Elastic Brittle sword is an oxymoron.
@@ironreaver1543 if the sword flexes too much it will snap

Once again I have cut a worthless object
I keep forgetting this dudes name but he is awesome He has one of the fastest reaction time in the world
wow dude. you really dropped the ball on that one. The Katana is the type of sword.
That guy looks like an anime character irl of course hes a complete steel slicing boss.
So this is what Ishikawa Goemon looks like in real life
Why do Japanese shows remind of the Hunger Games shows?
Probably because one was influenced by the other. Can you guess which?
Katana Cultists just grow up
What if people just like katanas does that mean they're cultists u should grow up
***** Katana is a great sword and alot of people think its the best , but there is also a following of the english longsword french bastard sword german great sword and the scottish clamor I guess they should grow up also :D
I do not consider Celtic warriors to be an army by the way.
the french knightz learn the hard way that its not the noble's sword that is deadly but the commoner's long spears and longbows.
Japanese TV shows are a whole new level of frenetic
That ".4mm Steel plate" was NOT steel plate. Thats fucking sheet metal. I can do that with my fucking knife
Honestly, you can do this with a metal bat
*heavy breathing*
make me your apprentice... Mr.Samurai-dono
Damn that Armanent Haki is strong
All hail the monosteel european greatsword
this just in: local japanese man cuts tin foil
That katana made of what ?? Made of carbon steel 1045 or what pls tell me🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
carbon content of the pipe? sounds like aluminum the sheet metal
the sheet looks like 18-20ga galvanized steel, same stuff ducting in housing is made of & the pipe looked to be electrical conduit, (not much thicker then the sheet metal).
A jealous chinese
i bet i can do it but the material seemed weak to me.
Bruce Liu feel free, i dont think it would be to difficult but if you use a cheep blade expect that you may break or damage it.
Isnt he the one who cut the bb pellet using his katana in half?
Oh yeah ! be amazed watching hard metal cut trough soft metal...Any sword made to cut can do this, and you cant tell the blade has dulled a bit in the video.
You know what would be impressive ? To see his katana flex 70º.
A sharp piece of steel cuts through some very thin (and obviously a lot softer) steel, so what?
You think that easy with bare hands?
Don't delete comments, you dumb shit.
u clearly never tried to cut that to say such stupidity... and in case u havent noticed the amazing fact here isnt how strongly it cuts, its how much precision he has lol.. be more observant next time moron.. this dumb people make facts on looks lol! while building my own garage i had to use those sheets. And its fukin harder than it looks.
i bet u cut 4 sheets and ur already tired.. u have the beard of a goat and the brains too
Kool, that samurai looks so cool. Maybe I watch too much anime...
Katana is my favourite
Sharp hard piece of steel cutting through a thin piece of soft steel.
Weebs would literally cream themselves looking at lathe machining videos then I guess.
a bronze sword could cut these
X Infinity Yep.
a katana is made out of several different metals and hand crafted in loads of layers. they cost loads and are absolutely deadly
you should search how they're made its pretty cool
NanoDash Katana is a very good sword but cant cut armor
It has nothing to do with the katana (except for its profound cutting ability); Isao Machii is another superhuman with the ability to anticipate far beyond normal human capabilities and thus be able to cut a metal plate with a katana, so congratz Isao.
Kinda like Ben Affleck? I get it
MadChatter17 If a normal person would slice that, it would cut through but due to the lack to anticipation of trajectory it will only slice halfway and stop at the middle.
It is just technique. It is not power, but angle and motion, and using the blades natural curve. The blade is not damaged because so much of the blade was used to slice it, not brute forcing through it from one small area. Any curved steel blade with proper technique could do just as well.
Richard Smith I heard that curved blades make an efficient cutting sword.
Earl Vic Longakit Right, that is why it is curved, and the 'secret' to its cutting. There were a lot of curved swords though.
0.4mm thick? thats not one bit impressive, if it would have been 4mm thick i would be impressed.
Still don't think 0.4mm is impressive. I've seen people do it with all kinds of swords.
yeee yeee, too bad that in real fight against plate armout or even good chainmail you can do shit with it xD
who tf uses armor anymore tho
lol, the audience is protected by glass pannels, and he doesnt even wear safety glasses...
O_O hes on my team to eliminate Otaku haters.
Oh yeah
no, hes on my team to eliminate all weaboos
I doubt that is steel. More likley aluminum or really thin stainless steel
It was actually iron
Pure iron?:)
Dean Jordanov I don't know, but it would be easy to cut either way because it's really thin.
Well I have actually seen a katana cut through the hood of a car so it is possible to cut thicker metal.
Shit, you could cut that with shears ffs
Whenever japanese see something dangerous and amazing
Japanese: woooooaaaaahhhh
katanas are the best weapon.
Which is why the samurai used other weapons instead ?
ryuka 生活のためのおたく Oh come on, they would rather go into combat with other weapons rather than katanas.
Tests done on 19th century swords typically score them around 48 RHC where as modern production goes over 56.
humans are the best weapons
lindy chao In what way?
From a biological and physical point of view pound for pound humans are the weakest living creature on the planet. Humans do specialize in destroying each other for idiotic make-belief reasons but thats as far as it goes. That in itself proves that our high self-esteem on how intelligent we are is mostly just hot air since we kill ourselves for the most unintelligent reasons possible.
