It's been over a year since making Victorian Gonzo, so it's time to tackle another historically accurate cosplay! This time around it's a little different- rather than focusing on a characters outfit from a specific era and talking about how the clothing would have actually been made, I'm choosing an era that we didn't get see in the first season. Since Aziraphale is an angel, he's been around since the beginning and we can pick any era to place him in! But I do have a Belle Epoque event coming up and would love a new outfit for tea. I'm also doing research into 19th/20th c women's sportswear and active attire, so an 1890s "new woman" bicycle outfit seemed to fit with all of my needs! And it should be an easy adjustment to his common ensemble based in the 1860s. Turns out, as tailors were making so much women's wear in the late Victorian era, they were ending up very similar to menswear!

Definitely! Apparently one of Aziraphales early outfits in that episode is technically a womens style- it's just far earlier than my expertise. And, of course, Crowley as the nanny!

Yeah, or a sex which is why the book explicitly points about, that zira gets mistaken for gay but is not making them love each other non explicitly not queer baiting but ace rep.
I love the concept for it makes so much sense, what for would an angel need a biological sex?! But people tend to not get it and I am bitter about it.... And that the rings of power deprived us of dwarven lady beards

Can I just say I love how they aged Aziraphale's waistcoat! He said it's his favorite and very old, and the designer remembered to actually make it LOOK old, despite Aziraphale's attempts to keep it in top condition :) I love this show, and I'm very excited to see your finished product!
Edited to say it was actually the coat that was his favorite, and it seems to be the same coat from the Holy Water scene up to present day. I want to propose a theory though, do we think the waistcoat from 25:33 is also supposed to be the same one as the present day? Just older, faded, and less luxurious than it was in the beginning?
Edit #2: I was rewatching, and he DID keep the gold waistcoat, and they aged it similarity the the cream coloured one. You can see it in the scenes where he is playing magician at Warlock’s birthday in episode 1.

Nice ideas, female Crowley is with the switch scene the best change from book to series. Then life took a couple of left turns, and now I'm two weeks out and making an evening bodice to go with... the skirt from the "Emergency Walking Suit" I knocked out in a day and a half in the summer of 2021 because I waited too long to try on what I was planning to wear for an event and discover that it was not just snug but unworkable. Thanks for all you share on your channel. You really inspire me. Wishing you peace of mind and well-being, and a little "Spring" bounce in your step to get you through this project 😉

The hat in the illustration reminds me very much of hats that would have been worn in Ladies Saddle Seat classes back in the late 1990's, early 2000's. I always wanted one, but my discipline was more helmet inclusive.

I've been working on a passion cosplay project (as in, I don't have any plans to wear it anywhere yet but I wanted to make it just because) and I've had to put a pause on the project because I haven't been able to find a fabric that feels right, and now I have! Thank you so much!!!

The butch lesbian Aziraphale outfit we all deserve, thank you for making this headcanon a reality and I will now go and see if anyone wrote an Ineffable Wives fanfiction in that specific period.

Have you thought about looking at ready-made scarves for your cravat? If you only need a tiny bit of yardage, it might be easier to find the pattern and weight of fabric that way.
