Dixie I am a metal smith and I am in love with your "foot saw" it is brilliant. Thank you for sharing your wonderful idea with the world...so much better than any motorized version and no hand fatigue!!!
KARI, YOU GET IT, DOING FINE SCROLL AND INLAY WORK WOULD BE MUCH EASIER WITH A GREAT TOOL LIKE THIS, I'M BUILDING ONE THIS WEEKEND IT JUST SO HAPPENS I HAVE 4 GUITARS FOR CUSTOMERS THAT HAVE EXTENSIVE INLAY WORK.
You are an absolute genius! I want to convert my old Singer sewing table into an inlay station now. Have you considered making those stations and selling them? You could make money on those.
That’s awesome. I have very little pearl to cut and am looking for the path of least resistance for cutting as I live in a small apartment and don’t need a mini Home Depot in my closet. 😂 love the jig setup for cutting...
very nice inlay work, and very smart self diy leg powered spring scroll saw , best if you put some lubricant to those shaft it helps reduce noise and friction.
Is there a risk of conchoidal fractures? Got an old box with strips of MOP missing, sourced some pearl (paid £20 at the time - is that expensive, it was quite hard to get hold of pre-internet?) It needs cutting into strips to fit and is also a little thick, I guess would be easier to hone down the box rather than file down the mother of pearl! Also got to find some silver wire and maybe hammer it flat to fit into grooves in box. The wooden part is rosewood veneer and that needs french polishing, was going to have a go. Anyone else would have thrown it - the lining has gone too but I was going to sort it out! Got some jacquard black satin, will look nice. The pearl thing is the hard bit to sort. Luckily the pearl escutcheon is intact (no key though) :)

I love the handmade scroll saw. Minimal noise compared to an electric one, how ingenious!

would a foot powered saw set up like that work for cutting steel too like a regular jewelers saw?
Hi Dixie. Wondering what you use as a router for the fretboard?
What size blades do you you use in your saw frame? Does it make any difference?
Shouldn't you be using some protection from breathing the nacra dust? I've read it was very dangerous,
at second 2:10 "when """this""" is all cut out" I don't understand this.
you can learn from woodprix scripts how to make it yourself.
