- First Ride: Yamaha RS125 Electric Conversion 4K
This video is all about the home conversion of a Yamaha RS125 two stroke to a 10kW e-Motorcycle by Andi Heini of @andiskleinewerkstatt
Andi is my brother in law, and has been a keen motorcyclist all his life, crossing the Sahara, riding around South America, and tinkering with motorcycles. He's recently completed a project to convert a Yamaha RS125 to an electric motorcycle and has successfully registered it for road use in Switzerland.
He's done all the work himself, including building the battery pack using a spot welder made from the inner workings of a microwave oven... if you think this is unlikely, please check out his video on it:
• Build Li-Ion battery p...
He's also done some other content on things like the bench test of the motor and controller:
• Golden Motor HPM-10KW ...
I called in to see the family on my way back from EICMA in November, and despite it being a cold and wet day, and me being ill-equipped for the conditions, I took the bike out for a spin. #spolieralert it was really fun despite the weather and I can't wait to have another go in the dry.
Thanks for watching.

What a fun bike, classic style with electric drive, seems like that project is a massive success!
It is. And though it’s missing the 2-stroke, the torque from the electric motor is an excellent change!
I liked the grin in your face when you arrived back 😊
Thanks. It was automatic.
Fascinating project Andre
He’s done a fine job with it.
Switzerland, in November and no winter gear, brrrrr now your making me feel very cold lol. Great video André 👍, however, I'll stick to petrol for now, range anxiety etc 😀
🤣 I had range anxiety riding a Zero up Holme Moss and watching the range plummet on an uphill overtake… I think there’s still some evolution to come before E Motorcycles become more common, but I do like the new life being given to older bikes like this. Way better than rusting away in a shed or being scrapped.
Genuinely fascinating. Not really a fan of EVs - but I'd have something like that in a heartbeat as a 2nd/3rd bike.
He's clearly a bright spark (pun intended). I'm pleased with myself when I change a chain and sprockets successfully!
Greetings from Matlock Bath...
Thanks and yes, he’s done a top job and compared to the other emotorcycles out there under £7k, I’d pick this without hesitation. It’s a shame that it’s a one of a kind.
dang nostalgic, I learn on a yamaha RS100 and LS2.
It is good to see one back on the road even if it is a bit different.
Brilliant!!! Now review the BMW CE 02 and see how it stacks up to BMW's version of the "eParkourer of the new Urban Mobility scene". I think the BMW engineers can learn something with this e-conversion.
I’d quite like to try the BMW, even if I’ve no idea what an eParkourer is…. I guess that sentence made sense to someone, or everyone was too afraid to point out it’s rubbish 🤣
Great video
Thanks!
Wow. I had no idea Switzerland was 2 months behind ÙK 😮😂😂
Oh hang on... ten months ahead. 👍🏻
🤣. I’m just way behind. And after a week of either filming or editing at EICMA, the prospect of another few hours at the laptop wasn’t a priority. I was then into Motorcycle Live and some more videos and then went on a tour to South Africa and then it was Christmas. I’m currently on holiday and am finally catching up, so it’s been the two videos from Colombia in August, Switzerland in November and starting tomorrow, one a day of four South Africa videos. I still have a bit of a backlog, but a few hours a day on holiday has allowed me to catch up.
@@PeakMotorcycles I.ve been to southport. 😁 got new bsa. Only managed 350 miles. Either flooded or icy in 7wk I.ve had it. But have done a bit on my dirtier bikes.
intressant
It’s turned out great. It’s also great to see one of these older bikes get a new lease of life.
@@PeakMotorcycles amen
what is the bilding cost?
I think that’s a question for Andi. You can find his channel in the video description.
It was over 8000$, I stopped counting.
Plus 4500$ for electric safety tests, EMC and
MOT (required in Switzerland)
Sorry. I hate EVs.
At least you’re sorry about it 😉. If we all liked the same thing, life would be a little dull.
@@PeakMotorcycles Haha! I suppose so.
