Chris seems, to me, to try and fully convince the audience he is actually clueless at times. Its a good trick, as a comedian, as it makes your audience underestimate you, which you can use to your advantage. Lately I'm starting to think that Chris is constantly, 'in character' as a dumb guy and is very committed to it.
