    Lyrics:
It’s coming up on two years
It’s not right he’s not here
In the passenger seat saying, “boy would ya go a little slower?”
“You’re worrisome son, make your old man look a little older”
I got a few of his things
That beach necklace he bought in Jamaica one Spring
It’s means the world to me, to most it ain’t worth nothin’
I wouldn’t take a million bucks for it, for it’s the one thing
I had to hang in there
    Swingin’ from my rearview mirror
So I can always take him driving with me
It’s how he stays with me along with a legacy
And an empty page to write a better ending
It’s more than beaded jewelry, it’s more like a prayer reminding me to
    Hang in there
    Hang in there
It gives me the pep talk I need
It can turn into fuel when I’m on E
Call it a priceless keepsake, call it precious
Yeah It’s keeping him around me like a necklace
I had to hang in there
    Swingin’ from my rearview mirror
So I can always take him driving with me
It’s how he stays with me along with a legacy
And an empty page to write a better ending
It’s more than beaded jewelry, it’s more like a prayer reminding me to hang in there
It’s more than beaded jewelry, it’s more like a prayer reminding me to hang in there
    Hang in there…
    Hang in there…

Steve, I'm sorry for your loss. My father was my best friend and my hero. I guess I was lucky to have lived 37 years without having to bury someone close to me. The paramedics gave him cpr the entire ride to the whole 30 min ride to the hospital. Broke every rib in his body trying to save him. I still miss him evey day even though its been 9 years to the day. I learned that I really didn't care much for people saying they were sorry if they didn't know what it felt like to lose your dad. I didn't want anything from anyone but I needed someone wrap they're arms around me and who knew the pain I was going through and just give me the biggest fkin hug and be there for me. I never got that. Since then I have always stopped and done that even if I didn't know the person that well if they had just lost they're dad I was the stranger who felt they're pain. Today is the first time I have ever heard any of your work my friend. What you have is something beyond words. I'm an 80's/90's kid song writer and guitar player who grew up dirt poor raised by 5 dads who weren't my own and became a dad myself at 17. I listened to every song of yours I could find today after hearing one verse in a short video on instagram this morning. I had to stop what I was doing a more than a few time to wipe a tear from my eyes. We're not supposed to cry. Not our generation, leave that to these snowflakes who never had a callus on they're hands or had to drink powdered milk and live on white rice and kix. Man your fking good brother. If you ever find yourself up near Weed California I would love to by a few rounds and bullshit with you. I'm to fkin old to make new friends but in your case i might make an exception.

Tears are prayers too. They travel to God when we can't speak. Psalm 56:8

I, too, lost my father unexpectedly and far too soon. It's the pivotal moment which separated my life into 2 halves: the half when I was whole, and the half where I am broken. Your music has me reflecting and comisserating with you. Thank you for helping me hang in there.

I listen to this song almost everyday on the way to work. I got a lot going on and a lot trying to get at me. But I have a son that I have to hang in there for.
