Happy New Year! [Part 2]
15:34 Meanwhile Sony security guard slowly moves his hand to his gun.
The 100mm f2.8 GM STF is such a sleeper lens, it's great for video too. This is one of the most affordable GM lenses on the second hand market, yet the optics and focus performance are truly stellar. Sony needs to urgently work on a version 2 of the 85mm GM, that lens is one of the few I wouldn't recommend as it is dated.
Thanks for another year of great videos and wishing you a wonderful and healthy 2024!
I'm wishing they'd make an f/1.4 or 1.8 version of that.
@@ikoyDaPnoy Me too, 100mm is a really nice focal length. Have a happy new year!
@@Edwin-- Happy New Year!
Yes, the 100mm STF is fantastic for the video!!! It's really pleasing picture for the video. And the fact that it's f5.6 is usually not a problem, and most of the time it's even advantage for the video. Another advantages for the video is that it has a bokeh like f2.8, but the in focus area like f4. So it's much more forgiven when missfocus, and even when it goes out of focus, the character of out-of-focus areas is not as disturbing as classic lenses, so you don't feel that something out of focus. To be honest i dream about more STF lenses in Sony's linup
@@MagnetiqLabs I fully agree, but I think we are a minority in the Sony-world as I have the impression not many have this lens, hence that may affect development of future STF lenses by Sony. Happy new year!
Great job on the video folks! Thanks for making it.
Happy new year! It’s been a fun time watching you and Lok covering so many Sony lenses.
Yoo Kai and Lok are so back. Loved this two parter! The Z8 video rocked aswell. Much love!
As a lumix shooter who is constantly tempted by the evil empire (sony) this is a very useful overview. Thanks!
Happy New Year!
Great Video!
got to test the 300 2.8 at Sony Ginza in Nov, its AF is amazing fast, on my A-1, and so compact for a 300 2.8, easy to carry all day
This is literally the video i wanted but didnt know id get. Theres a few lenses here ive been looking at and now i have a better idea of them. Thanks much to both of you. Im also kind of curious as to what color profile or picture profile you use? I like the saturation some of the photos I've seen!!!
How do you just gloss over the glorious 135gm?!
Thanks Kai, happy newyear and what a joy this must have been and probably also a pain not being able to bring all this glass outside... This and 3rd party lenses + poor dynamic range of my Canon DSLR made me move to Sony mirrorless in the first place and I don't regret a second of that.
Do all Sony cameras next :)
Kai is like "10 years ago I probably pick the f2.8 but the f4..." yup! Like the f2.8 wide zooms are cool and all, but the Balance is just there with the f4!!!
It's a pity you didn't try out the E 2.8/16-55 mm G. It's really really good optically and one of my favorite lenses.
Hello. Do you think the 2nd version of the Sony 200-600mm lens will be produced? When do you think it will be produced? Thank you
Did I miss it, or did you miss the 85 F1.8 and the 28-60 kit lens for the A7C? I do like the 85mm F1.8 for quality and price, although I mostly shoot my Sigma 90mm F2.8 dg dn c instead.
I see that the Bloody Producer has given the okay on using old DRTV footage.
Yes.....Sony's eco-system of lenses is immensive; especially when you factor in 3rd party lenses too. It's ABUNDANTLY clear that Sony financially can do all the R&D and all the manufacturing to keep on popping out new lenses like someone who doesn't believe in birth control----but more doesn't necessarily equal better either. I would love to see Sony produce some manual focus only lenses with some character versus all the "clinically" sharp lenses they come out with.
Like a kid in a candy store! Have fun
Awww no Zeiss Batis lenses tested!
Wow 🤩 nice
Sony has changed the game to be honest, kudos to them!!
I’m getting a lens brainer looking at this 😱🤩
I'm still hoping Sony would make a 105mm f/1.4 GM. If they made it STF ... even better. If they did, I'd sell my Sigma 105mm f/1.4 in a heartbeat.
90 macro 🔥
❤️❤️
And now please two or three more episodes for all third party lenses like Sigma, Tamron...
And I am still here waiting for a 28 1.4, 100 1.4, 200 2.0 or a 12-24/24-105 II :D
Now cut this review up into a bazillion UA-cam shorts!
18:19 "didn't bother with the 1.8"
18:48 "there's no 1.8 version"
Good one...
100mm STF the best bokeh
A ‘test’? Of how long it took some poor Sony apprentice to match up all the lens caps and hoods with the right lenses again afterwards? And I hope they counted the spoons? Still, it’s an impressive array. . .
Heyyy
I never use zoom, I do not like them. The Sony 85mm 1.4 GM is a bit too heavy, I have the excellent Zeiss Batis Sonnar 85mm 1.8 T*, I also have the excellent Voigtländer Macro APO-Lanthar 65mm 2.0 Aspherical. I do have the Sony 135mm 1.8 GM, but I do not like the size and the weight, so now I use my excellent Voigtländer Macro APO- Lanthar 110mm 2.5. I do wish Sony will make a compact "GMC" series of Lenses with highest performance in optical image quality without the need of software to perform, fx 24mm 2.0, 85mm 2.0, 135mm 2.8... Now get going with the hundreds other non-Sony E-mount Lenses !
How do you like that voigt 65? I've been eyeing it forever but haven't been able to test one out
@@nicedward7544 The Voigtländer 65mm 2.0 is incredible good ! You can use for any kind of photography from Macro to portrait to street to Landscape, it just delivers outstanding optical image quality in sharpness, contrast and colors, I can very highly recommend it. It is really build like a tank, so it will last a lifetime.

Sony: "Yes, let's have an influencer duo come in to showcase our entire lens catalog, it will bring brand awareness and also show how far we've come. I'm sure they will handle it with poise and dignity."
Kailocke: "LOL"
Sony PR: "LOL"
Sony Execs: "...oh my."
Given Kai’s propensity to drop anything anywhere from any height, I think we should commend Sony’s bravery setting this up. But I bet there were a few Sony people next door waiting in terror of the sound of broken glass and scrunched lens hoods😂
Still no Compact 23mm F2 (35mm FF equivalent) and 18mm F2/F2.8 (28mm FF equivalent) for Sony APS-C...Very disappointing these compact primes were never released for the compact APS-C bodies. Would have been perfect everyday carry or street cameras.
More money there than a house in some places.
:D :D :D
Should have posted after a week after part 1
The 10-18 is really crap!!! My worst buy ever!
I was actually waiting through part one for you to combine an ultrawide with a tele converter 🫤
