Holy shit. After watching, I've just realized how criminally underrated CC Deville really was compared to those much-more-lauded guitar heroes in Kotzen and Saraceno.
The two "Poison impostors", as I call them, have NOTHING on CC! The songs don't sound at all like they should with either of the other two. You can definitely tell the difference when CC is back behind the guitar! So happy CC is back!!!
I like these solos through the years videos. It makes me laugh how cc gets so excited at gigs he cant stop shredding! I think it adds an extra level of excitement. Hes a great writer of melodic solos then he destoys them live!!
Poison - You all are #1 in my book I am thankful CC has turned his life around for the better, it's a blessing and Amen he has faced his demons and continues to rock it! CC Deville you rock my world 😎💓you are such a personable kind soul with a hilarious personality. DeVille is possibly single. OMG I totally would be indebted if I could meet this man!!!!🙏🙏🙏
The CC version is from the album but I saw them play it live opening for DLR & even though I was pretty critical of many live performers I thought CC & the band kicked ass, that night. Of course, Steve Vai and Billy Sheehan were so damn good that I must be honest & say that was my favorite part of that particular concert.
How could one choose? Both of these gents are awesome, from a live perspective C.C outshines anything he laid down in the studio, just an opinion, of course
CC > Blues > Kotzen CC: an actual genius who created some of the most iconic guitar riffs and solos that will stand the test of time, also a true showman, insanely skilled, perfect for Poison. Very happy he's now clean and sober and back with Poison, currently touring and terrific live. Essential to what makes Poison so great. Blues: A workman-like professional, reliable who subbed in for a time, and actually did some good work with Poison (especially 'Sexual Thing' and a few others from the Crack a Smile album). Although his natural style wasn't much like Poison, he was professional enough to (mostly) match with the band, though at least in the clip above his solo was miles away from matching (still better than Kotzen's though). Kotzen: a guy who thought he was a genius because he was skilled (not the same thing as having an actual muse). Thought everything was about himself, never bothered to match to the band. Worst fit, also arguably the worst mainstream Poison album (though there were a few bright spots, 'Fire and Ice', 'Ain't that the Truth', 'Theatre of the Soul'). Was actually technically impressive ('Ritchie's Acoustic Thang') but confused his finger skill for actual muse, which he didn't have much of (at least back when he was with Poison). For some reason guitarists really like this guy, but the average listener doesn't. No iconic riffs. Possibly in his solo career though? Don't really care as self-indulgent and self-important blues isn't my particular cup of tea. Haven't kept track, hopefully he grew up eventually.
I met Kotzen. He's a douche-canoe. And this was probably around 2013 or 14 with Winery Dogs. He was at a record release signing party and acoustic set in NJ. The rest of the Winery Dogs were cool. He sat there with this pouty face like he couldn't be bothered. CC is awesome and always nice to fans... when I met him he was running in the parking lot before a show and even then, in the middle of his jog, he was cool enough to say hi.
Um the audio from first clip is straight up the album version not live in the slightest. Ive seen poison live a few times and CC never plays the parts completely like the album. Hes always 400 bpm noodling around.
And it's good to have an original sample to show what that sounds like for any1 who's never heard it b4. I wouldve done it for that reason alone. Cuz as u can tell from most those live ones, they sound nothing like the original lol
En tema de solos me quedo con blues sarraceno en Brasil, luego cc y al final kotzen. El único solo q me gustó de kotzen fue Something to believe in en Londres
@@tmunday7270001475143 I respect your opinion. But have you listened to any of Blues’ first three solo instrumental records? I’ll take Blues over CC any day. Just my opinion 🙏
Umm what about the Something to Believe in or life goes on solos? Ur seriously saying they dont have soul? U can literally hear his guitars pain as it weeps. They're the only 2 guitar solos that have actually given me chills and get me choked up at certain parts. Something to believe in solo is best I've ever heard as far as putting your heart and soul into a solo and expressing it. True masterpiece in my eyes. He can actually play better than them. His problem has always been that hes always high tho sadly. And it makes him sound 90% worse. And he is a genius when it comes to writing great stuff. Too bad he can rarely Express it tho cuz of him being high.
@@jeffpowell1893 Umm…I never once said CC had no soul. I said Blues has MORE soul to my ears. And to my ears, Richie and Blues are far better players…regardless of anyone’s substance abuse issues. However, you have intrigued me. I’m going to check out some CC videos. Perhaps I may change my mind about his playing compared to Blues and Richie 🤷♂️
@@JoshGordonGuitar Well yeah, I mean just listen to how he plays on albums or sober. But on tour hes high 99% of the time lol. Sad. I think it's just their style of music they play too. Blues is naturally a more soulful music than rock obviously lol
CC is the worst player technically speaking....BUT.....he is the only guitarist for Poison. Richie and Blues are 2 of my favorite players...outside of what they did with Poison that is (in my opinion what they did with Poison is their weakest material). CC Deville is like Mick Mars...they have limited ability...they dont have great tone or timing....BUT....in the bands they helped create...they cannot be replaced, no matter how technically proficient their replacements might be. Richies solo material and his Smith/Kotzen album are fucking brilliant...and if you haven't heard all of the music Blues has been putting out in the last decade.....you need to treat yourself....Its Dark/Country Blues...and it is all amazing. AND....CC is right back where he belongs in Poison
Kotzen can't even cover another guy's solo. Blues might have been interesting, if he could have gotten some tone out of that mud. But CC just does "it".
CC is insane.Kotzen's solo is a great spin but there is just something about CC's insanity that just fits.
Kotzen is a sharpnel artist and you can see all the flair in his solo.

Funny how it went full circle back to almost the studio version.

Every one of CC's versions smoked the rest of the other versions by Kotzen and Saraceno.

CC has that extra spice
That first solo sounds like he was playing to the album version .....
Kirk Hammett called and said too much wah there, Blues.
The first solo was playing to a backing track...oops.
Lmao that 1st one was miming the recording 😂😂😂😂😂

Studio solo is perfect. I understand other players ruining it but CC as well… what drugs do…
Blues Saraceno had the most soul. They can all noodle just fine, but soul is a different beast altogether.

Kotzen just doesn't fit into this. Terrible. Neither does Blues. Love both but come on. Not here.
Blues was horrible just a stupid wah solo..Even though C.C in some part went toooo faast it was still much better
Richie played the solo to nothing but a good time TOTALLY WRONG
And never played right live…… ever
