I may have been a bit unfair to the ML4 base, by comparing it to the substantial mental base of the ML6. But the whole point of LedLenser at the time was the premium materials and quality. I personal own a whole range of LedLenser products (almost the whole Professional range) as well the X21, and I am happy with LenLenser’s products.
@@IsobarBrokenFlame No worries. I agree by comparison it may not feel as solid, but I can't see mine falling apart any time soon (I'm going to try not to put it to too much of a test!). It's a great little product all round. The AA backup option is extremely useful for someone who forgets charging cables regularly. All the best.
Hi, does this ML4 have it own protection circuit? I couldnt find any source mentioning about this issue :( i wanna try it with 14500 unprotected Li-ion battery
@@IsobarBrokenFlame LedLenser is a German company, and you're not allowed to sell products in the EU that don't have automatic cut-off at full charge, however, this doesn't apply if you use a AA battery in the ML4 as the automatic cut-off threshold sits at 3.7V whereas a AA battery is only 1.5V, so if you were to forget that you've got a AA battery in the ML4 instead of the higher voltage rechargeable lithium ion and you plugged it into the charger, there may be an issue of charging a non-rechargeable battery and doing so beyond 1.5V
Thanks, that review was great, especially in the garden. I was looking at the ML6 primarily and your review has made up my decision to buy one. I do like the ML4 too and could use as a lantern for camping and as a secondary cycling lamp. Great job 👏
I’m glad it was helpful. I hope you are able to choose between the ML6 and ML6 Warm. The ML6 Warm is probably preferred as a night light, while the ML6 is probably preferred as a work light.
@@IsobarBrokenFlame Thanks, we will be using it as a back up light in our VW camper van so would you say the ML6 warm would be the better option ? From what you can see are they pretty much the same in terms of features just one is warm and the other white light ? Appreciate your thoughts. 👍😀
@@dogwalker456 as an all purpose emergency/backup light I would probably choose the ML. If it was only going to used as a light to relax to, before going to sleep then the ML6 Warm would be preferred. We use the ML6 Warm at night while playing card games, and eating supper. It makes for a cosier atmosphere.
@@IsobarBrokenFlame Hi Buddy, went for the ML6 Warm in the end & it arrived today. First impressions, just superb in every way, build quality, light quality is excellent. Will be perfect as a backup for our campervan. Very temped to get an ML4 now. Thanks for your help 👏👍
Unfortunately, the ML4 is incapable of charging the battery while it is switched on. It immediately switches off the moment the charger is attached and power is applied to the charger.
I have the ML4. The base is very solid, not flimsy at all. Just needs to be fully closed (there's a click).

Wow,now this is an excellent review...thanks!
Didn’t realise this had a red light mode! Thanks 😀
Great review
Thanks for the feedback.
Is ml2 comes with mh10 as a kit can handle 14500 3.7 volts? Looks like is a ml4 just named different. Please let me know.
I’m not sure to be honest they look very similar. But I couldn’t find any literature about the ML2, in English or German.
@@IsobarBrokenFlame thanks! I tried 14500 3.7 volts, think is fine to use it, no bad symptoms detected.

Dang Huynh Khanh Hi Dang, sorry but I don’t know if the ML4 has a protection circuit.

Perfect, thanks
You're welcome!
Can the LedLenser ML4 charge the battery even when it is on?
Unfortunately, the ML4 is incapable of charging the battery while it is switched on.
It immediately switches off the moment the charger is attached and power is applied to the charger.
Lumens. Loo-mins. The word only has two sylables.
I found this tip illuminumating.
Great review. Thanks.
Thanks for watching!
