    I really appreciate that you guys made this video to show us how to repair our own microphones. Thank you! I feel like Russians are always good at repairing everything!

    Thank you for this helpful video. I had some noise at the MK102 and it was also humidity. (Very easy to fix after this video) :)

    Well done. I am thinking about buying a pair of these for interior dialog. The modularity and ability to maintain make them very appealing.

    I'm building an ORTF MOUNT for my MK-012s. Where does the membrane sit within the capsule in mm so I can assure the best recordings with the least amount of phasing issues. I'll mark it on the outside, so I need the approx. from the outside of the capsule. Thanks!

    Can you kindly test if you can plug in Oktava Mk-012 directly into the XLR port at the bottom of Zoom H5 without connecting an XLR cable please? Thank you in advance

    Can you identify the thread size for these capsules? I would like to experiment with these capsules on another mic preamp body and if I know the thread size, I can tell if they would fit.

      Thanks, I measured one I bought today with vernier callipers and a thread gauge - I agree it looks very much like 18 * 0.5mm. 👌

    When having a matched pair, would this kind of repair solve the much lower gain of 1 mic/capsule? Any help would be much appreciated🙏

    came here because I just got a brand new one and it was making a bunch of noise when I first started using it. I have it on for about an hour now and the noise seems to have gone away. Do you think this could have been moisture trapped in the capsule? The noise would come and go.

    I just bought a used 012 with cardioid capsule. In general it works fine, but.... even with attenuator and medium gain settings it catches air movement (from hand 10cm from the capsule), much lauder than my voice. Easily clipping. If I speak I am getting same loudness signal everywhere between 2 and 100 hertz. Even if I speak 40cm from it. High quality records are fine (as this frequency is hard to hear, only visible in an application), but voice calls like skype hate when such frequencies are louder than my voice :-)
    Could it be capsule problem or maybe old capacitors on the board?
    (not sure if high pass insert from oktava will help, and I can't find filter specifications).

      @@hgfhgfjghgfhgffgdjhd Hi. I put on top foam filter from my dynamic mic for a test. still easy to blow the thing from 40cm. From that distance if I press -20db pad on my interface and turn gain completely left (nothing should be heard), if I simply cough some game which I play turns on audio chat on my as if I was laud.
      I also tried to wrap mic into heavy blankets and turn gain right. Expected to have some more or less even noise, but it is mostly between 2 and 50hz. Almost the same happens if I go into small storage room filled with clothes (and away from windows and traffic. My apartments are built from brick and concrete, so it is quite there)

      @@hgfhgfjghgfhgffgdjhd I could set some fabric at even distance between me and the capsule and it is better. But rumble does not go away. And I basically do nothing with it, not touching a thing.

      @@hgfhgfjghgfhgffgdjhd this is also could audacity math issues, or native UMC204HD drivers, but it looks that if signal is week my sinusoids are not continuous but like it is cut at some low level. Like signal is too weak to show up, and it looks like a set of bubbles. (tried 24 bit too).

      @@hgfhgfjghgfhgffgdjhd I made some more experiments... simply stuck my samson q2u and oktava between two really dense heavy pillows. Dynamic mic shows extra narrow spike at ~30hz. Most probably cars passing nearby on highway affecting our building. But it does not sound bad. I can't hear it, ~pink noise. Now I switch to Oktava and I see huge wide noise area between 3 and 70hz. If I turn on live monitoring I hear how people a walking on other floors (concrete building!).
      Of course this goes away with 70-80 hz high pass, 24db roll off. But this is only for records, and I would like to use to for calls...
      And I can't speak close on low gain - proximity effect is huge....

    Thanks for this. I have a matched pair. One of the bodies makes a lot of rumbling noise when -48V is applied. The rumbling settles down, but there is still a lot of 'hiss' noise. I suspect a bad capacitor. Any suggestions on how to debug it?

    • @hgfhgfjghgfhgffgdjhd
      @hgfhgfjghgfhgffgdjhd 4 роки тому

      difficult to say, sometimes it is FET, sometimes capacitor. I would recomment just to replace the complete PCB.

    Hello sir. Is it possible to remove the Grill on these mk012 capsules? I'm trying to get a brighter sound with less smear. thanks

    • @hgfhgfjghgfhgffgdjhd
      @hgfhgfjghgfhgffgdjhd 3 роки тому

      yes, it is possible and the capsule will work. But the only way to do it is to destroy the top lid because it is glued. You need to unbend the edges of the lid and remove the grill.
