You guys gave him a chance based on need, not because you guys were doing him a favor.
No issues with Arraez and Cease because they're gonna get traded so its gonna be some other teams problem. They wanna keep King so thats why they're being cheap.
First off I am not a fan of and never have been a fan of AJ Preller. So with that said I don't think you can pin all this on AJ and the Padres. The organization and especially AJ have never gone to arbitration because they don't like the system and they don't like bad-mouthing their own player. I'm sure that means to accomplish their clean record they have paid more than what they thought was fair and probably thought they could win in arbitration. So the fact that King is holding fast at his price, It could be that he and his agent just want to play hardball and not bend at all. If that's the case and the Padres have come up higher than what they thought was even fair, then the hell with him, let's go to arbitration and made the best man win. It's not like the Padres constantly pound on their arbitration players. It may be a sign of the future trying to get him to sign a multi-year contract, and that's something for the Padres to think about while holding on to him. This could very easily have nothing to do with the ownership of the Padres so I wouldn't jump to conclusions right away. They may even settle.
Just because AJ has never gone to arbitration doesn’t mean it’s some great accomplishment. It highlights his inability to resolve and manage conflict appropriately. There is a reason he has had 6 managers in 10 years.
@jdsthird well like I said, And you already know, I am no fan of AJ but I do understand not wanting to go to arbitration and have to bad mouth one of your own players. They have the good guy part, being able to say all their accomplishments and they're able to compare themselves to other players ,that they consider equal, And how much they currently make. I think if I was able to throw in 500,000 if they would come down 500,000 I would meet him halfway to avoid arbitration even if it was $500,000 more than I wanted to spend on the player. It's very possible that these guys have dug in and won't come down one dime and in that case, ARBITRATION HERE WE COME. Unfortunately, The players don't take it like men and are easily offended by a system they agreed to. So not only do you have to try and pay them what you feel is fair you have to try not to hurt their feelings because you may want them to sign a longer-term contract. I wish there was something the owners could trade arbitration for in the next contract because arbitration is ridiculous and really hurts the game financially.

Yeah idk how Sasaki comes with this kind of penny pinching now. I know we all say because of our pitching coach and trying to beat the big bad dodgers. But it’s so dysfunctional now, unsettled and no end in sight. What free agent would want to come to this sort of instability?!?
Lol, theyre not penny pinching. If they were penny pinching the other 5 would have had issues.
And this has nothing to do with Sasaki, his money is separate
@@seanmcvicker8985we will see. Why would someone come to an organization in turmoil now? Separate or not.
@@seanmcvicker8985It has everything to do with Roki. He is a private person and his name is in the lawsuit. That’s horrible and uncalled for. Bad move.
@@jdsthirdIt’s so crazy. So irresponsible. Why would you name a player you may not even get. Does doing so indicate that they really had a handshake deal with Sasaki? Stellar and Sheel both talking like he was already on the team.
Padres won't lose King , he's under contract. He'll get paid for this year
We literally gave him a new career. Like bruh. If he doesn’t return… what a waste of Juan Soto
You guys literally gave him a new career? He was a starter when he was drafted. The Yankees just didn’t have a place for him. No pitcher gets drafted hoping to be a reliever. Same thing with Kopech on the Dodgers. On the Dodgers he has to settle for relief duty until he can prove otherwise. In a crappier team he would push to be a starter. You guys gave him a chance based on need, not because you guys were doing him a favor.
Did you see his stats as a starter the second half for the Yankees? That’s why we got him.
No everything is fine. Keep calm and carry on. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Sarcasm. I love it
There comes a time when you have to say to yourself, "It's only a game..." LOL

@@jasona9It’s not the baseball it’s the unnecessary drama and mess that comes with our Padres baseball. The extra that seems to permeate SD sports.
@@mike-vq8zw I’ve worked managing thousands of employees at various levels in a corporation. Managing conflict and difficult situations is a unique skill especially when it comes to doing it with crappy and high talent employees. Ignoring performance issues just because you don’t want to deal with it or you anticipate a bad reaction is not the best option. These athletes are human not super heroes that need to be coddled and t9ld they are perfect. There are situations the fans and public have no awareness of because it’s behind the scenes. All we see are these “stars” on the field making millions of dollars. We have no idea how many times they’ve been coached for lateness or ignoring instructions. And of course fans will automatically side with players because they are who we pay to see play the game. Arbitration is necessary for both sides and if you have the right culture and management in place these things can be worked out and they don’t have to be disasters.
The Dodgers take a few players to arbitration routinely. This year their best reliever Alex Vesia is heading there. Their culture and management has the wear with all to survive such a thing. It’s all in the communication and transparency throughout the process. Failing to go through it because you want a 10 year record to tout is not some great accomplishment. It’s a huge red flag. I’m looking at it through business and people management in those types of environments. Athletes are still employees with strengths and weaknesses that need addressing for their own growth and development. On Foul Territory podcast they talked about how the players union would sometime encourage going to arbitration to set a precedent for players that are coming behind them. King is a case I can see them encouraging because he’s a converted reliever. They need to set the market.
