How about an elders meet old friends video?? Sure it might be hard to find them and some might have passed on but it'd be great to see them reunite with their old buddies
I dont usually comment, OK I don't comment at all. But this is such a great suggestion! I hope FBE will notice this and give a shot at this suggestion. I would love to see them reuniting once more, and reminiscing the moment they've been through. Specially those who are got imported to Vietnam or those veterans. Oh yeah that would be great!
I just tried for 20 or 30 minutes to find him. I wish I had more information. 😔 I hope someone sees this. I am originally from Michigan and would love for them to reunite.
obituaries.claremoreprogress.com/obituary/obituary-bruce-kirk-748319272 I hope this is not him, but it is from muskegon and it says he served in the marines during vietnam
How I wish there is someone watching this going "Wait... Bruce Kirk... but that´s the same name as my grandpa... and he´s from Muskegon, Michigan...and he served in Vietnam... That looks just like him!" and then calls their grandpa and asks if he knew a guy named Phil.
Not just find Bruce Kirk but dedicate a whole eppisode to finding old friends of the elders. Because none of them could stay in contact that easy back then, right? Seeing people getting reunited is magical
5:42 "They're all, all gone..." Made me contemplate about the people in my life that are in their 60s and 70s and would probably be gone as well within the a decade or two.
This is so beautiful because after every picture you see their faces light and they tell these beautiful and meaningful stories of their families and themselves.😢
I lost my mom back at Christmas and seeing Cheryl's reaction to her mother's picture hit me in the gut. When you lose a parent it's like being indoctrinated into a club you never want to join.
That part brought tears to my eyes. My mother died in 2010, when I was 16, so I can somewhat understand how she feels. I wish I weren't a member of this club.
@@ninawth Yes, I turned 17 this April 23. My mother passed away last month On March 4th. Of course Me, my twin and my older brother who is 29 took it very hard, but I feel more bad for my little brothers who are twins also and only 12. It was so all of sudden. The day before everything was fine and dandy, the next day she is gone out of the blue.
I really hope that in another 50 years someone is doing for that generation what y’all are doing for this one. It’s really heartwarming and inspiring to watch Elders look back and reflect and inform on how things were compared to how things are now. It’s important. Thank you.
I actually knew Bruce Kirk at one point but not very closely. If I had seen this video about 18 months ago I might have been able to get them back in touch.
I love all this family history. My great grandmother recently died and I’m lucky I got to hear all her stories and pieces of history from her perspective before she passed. This makes me miss her even more.
Thank you so much for heart warming stuff. 3yrs ago i was depressed n i steamrolled thru ur try not to laugh challenges. Pulled me out. Sometimes u just need a good belly laugh. Look for every new try not to laugh since n share favs with friends. U dont know how u affect ppl. Vids like this bring me back. Im only 39. At 18 me, my grampa n my uncle looked same, well including my younger cousin 13yrs my junior. Pictures are powerful can help find the Me in ur life
I love what their dad said at the end! My great aunt recently gave me a box full of pictures of my grandparents when they were around my age. My grandpa, even though he was incredibly young and obviously looked different, I was startled by how immediately I recognized him. His eyes and smile stayed the same his whole life. And when I saw the picture of my grandma when she was 20, exactly my age, I realized how much I resemble her. We had the same eyes and nose! Hopefully I get to have those colorized, too
I love these kinds of videos with "elders react". Showing them new age music videos and rap songs just seems like a waste of time. They're in love with the culture and generation they grew up in, you see much more cooperation and engaging responses with videos like these.
Please keep doing these episodes! I absolutely love seeing all the pictures their reactions to them in color. I have cried at least once in each episode.
Also FBE, PLEASE if you all can find Phil's friend Bruce it'd be amazing to bring him on the show and surprise Phil with his old friend, that would be an amazing experience you could give him if it's possible.
Is there anyway that you could ask Phil if he knew a David Staple from the Vietnam War? Bruce sounds somewhat familiar in the family as a family friend. All were from Muskegon Michigan and North Muskeogn.
sometimes the photos are everything left from people we grow up with or people he did not had the chance to meet... I'm a very nostalgic person and from time to time I take the old photo albums and I just look at the photos, admiring the people, people I know, people I knew and people I never had the chance to meet. I really like to take those photo albums and look them with my family and relatives, so they can share their histories and I can listen to them while I still can.
Hey @FBE can you get some more info from Phil about his time in the Navy (Ship and years he served with Bruce Kirk). There are great communities of people on both reddit and facebook that will move mountains to reunite these men if Bruce is still alive.
I love how Robert was talking about how he was blessed working on the farm and I think living near it so he could eat apples and cherries off the trees around there, because, for some people, they would have issues with that and would be picky and whiny about where they live. Such a good man.
I love this episode but I wish the elders theme song didn’t play during the parts when the reactors talk seriously or emotionally because the elder’s theme is more goofy with the 40-50 esk swing piano
You never do. I lost my mother when I was 20. I feel the same way as Cheryl, she was gone before I was grown up to really know her. You never get over these kinds of things; you just carry on and learn to live with it.
My mother in law lost her mum 20 years ago and still sometimes she wants to call her and when she picks up the phone to dial the number she realizes that she wouldn't answer.
Bitu Tebebe I lost my mom 3 years ago. Sometimes I still go to call or text her and then I think that I’m crazy. Good to know I’m not the only one. Sad to know this feeling won’t ever truly go away though 😔
@@aquaowll I don't think you will ever get over the pain of losing a parent, it will get better to blend it out of your mind but you will never get over it and that's Okey. You're not crazy, you just loved. The moment we get over it, we will forget the person and that's the moment the person truly dies.
Lost my Dad in 2007, sister not quite a year ago. The pain never goes away, it just lessens with time, at least now when I remember my Dad I recall all the times he made me laugh and it makes me smile.
Weird to believe that one of these elders families lived in Minnesota because I love this channel and hearing her say that she has family that grew up where i live just makes me feel happy to hear about where all these wonderful people who are blessed to get to participate in this channel in this era is just beautiful to see and hear
