Metal-heads who claim to hate glam metal are usually hypocrites, they usually have a few glam metal bands they enjoy like Ratt, Dokken and early Crüe. A lot of these glam metal albums have a song or two that never got airplay that are either close to traditional heavy metal or straight up heavy metal.
I don't listen to much metal anymore but I HATED glam metal (especially being into hardcore punk and hip hop) but ironically now I respect those guys so much.. Lots of talent and true ROCKSTAR BIG D ENERGY lol. It's funny how these guys had more balls than most so called bands have now
I prefer to refer to them as hair metal: 1. Dokken 2. Steelheart 3. Tyketto 4. Tesla 5. Stryper 6. Great White 7. TNT 8. XYZ 9. Hardline 10. House of Lords
The way I look at it is Glam metal is a subgenre of heavy metal so all of these bands could be referred to as either or... Dokken is definitely one the heavier bands tho
I definitely leaned toward the harder side of metal when these albums were released, I was more into NWOBHM bands and the thrash bands that followed in their wake. But now that I'm a bit older and have some more mature reflection, I can definitely say that yea, those glam bands really did make a lot of soft, corny music.
If you are unfamiliar with XYZ (I'm sure you are) they are a fuckin killer glam metal/hard rock band. They also wrote some straight heavy metal tracks on their two releases in 80s and early 90s
Great list of my childhood 80's had the best music with Dokkon Cindalla Motley Crue Guns N'Roses Metallica L.A Guns My favorite brands from the 80's Guns N'Roses Metallica Motley Crue Judaa Priest Just subscribed.

Don’t know if you know them but King Kobra is probably my favorite. Super underrated and Carmine Appice jams on those records!
Great list. Hair metal is my classic rock and doesn't get the credit it deserves in rock and roll history. My local radio station doesn't play it enough it's always ac dc and metallica over and over. I think we're long past the stage of it not being cool to listen to hair metal. It's not 1995 anymore.
Crue, warrant,Cinderella, Slaughter White Lion, Dokken, Ratt only glam I like 👍
Firehouse, although late to the scene, had suck a killer debut! Also, Reach for the Sky is one of the best songs in that genre. 🤟
Damn, glad you remembered Vain! Too many people overlook them. Just subscribed to your channel.
I've done some vinyl unboxings over on my channel you might like.
The hair band era was the greatest ever as far as I'm concerned. It was my era. Glad to see a young guy like yourself appreciating the music from the 80s. Kip Winger is a great guy. Miles Away is my favorite song by Winger. Its a ballad but I love the ballads from that era. I remember you by Skid Row is another great one
Y&t, kiss, trixter, ratt, xyz, Baton Rouge, Stryper, danger danger, damn Yankees, Nelson
Cool list.
Mine is:
1. Ratt
2. Motley Crue
3. Dokken
4. L.A. Guns
5. Cinderella
6. Skid Row
7. Whitesnake
8. Winger
9. White Lion
10. FireHouse
EXCELLENT list Agreed 👍 !!!
Glam metal is the best here is a pretty good list of my favorites.

Awesome list! I personally would have put Firehouse higher on it. Another band that should have been in there is Europe! Anyways, job well done 🤘.
II grew up in the 80's and I'm good with the top of this list. I'd have Whitesnake in the top three, but maybe they don't qualify because of their age. RATT is no doubt my #1!
It’s tough when talking about some bands especially Whitesnake since they started off as a straight forward bluesy 70s hard rock band then evolved to fit in with a lot of these bands in the mid-late 80s
If you can consider them Glam Metal, I’d put W.A.S.P over all of these.
I don’t consider them glam metal but I like them better than all the bands on this list and they’re in my overall top 10 all time
WASP definitely reigns supreme over all the other bands that played the Sunset Strip.
W.A.S.P is glam metal. Just as much Motley Crue, Quiet Riot and Twisted Sister.
@Ralof Exactly, none of those bands that I mentioned are Glam. Glam never existed to be honest.
@@TemplarShad0w GLAM is slander. it literally stands for Gay LA Music

Great White
Honourable mentions to Tigertaiz, Warrant,Britny Fox, King kobra,Rough Cutt, Vain, Winger, And more
Also Icon althought i would say they are on the líne between Glam and straight Heavy Metal.
I'm a child of the 80s so I have a soft spot for glam metal
I like other types of metal and rock too
My absolute favorite glam band is ratt with dokken a close second
Cinderella, winger and motley crue are all awesome and rank very High in my books too
The hair and makeup overshadowed the music in my opinion. Alot of Great Musicians from this Era some of the most talented I think!!🎸🎸🎸
You know your stuff! Great choices, I love how ratt and dokken are tops! I'm a massive glam fan! Love it, and yes you can like all the genres!
Do you live in Kentucky? You said you were seeing Winger in Ky and I live in Franklin KY just South of Bowling Green.
Georgia... I’m driving up for it
Glam was something in the seventies and the kings was Sweet
Good list but my favorite is Faster Pussycat. Thanks for video
If I were to have a big 4 it would include Dokken, Extreme, White Lion, and Scorpions (if you consider them glam)
I don't listen to much metal anymore but I HATED glam metal (especially being into hardcore punk and hip hop) but ironically now I respect those guys so much.. Lots of talent and true ROCKSTAR BIG D ENERGY lol. It's funny how these guys had more balls than most so called bands have now
Heres mine...
1. Poison
2. Ratt
3. Cinderella
4. Def Leppard
5. Motley Crue
6. Extreme
7. Bon Jovi
8. Dokken
9. Warrant
10. White Lion
George can play absolutely anything any style anytime 👍👍....awesome list
1- Crue 2- Poison 3- Dokken 4- Ratt 5- Bon Jovi 6- Def Leppard 7- LA Guns 8- JET BOY 9- Whitesnake 10-Great White
What is your opionon on def leppard after Pryomaina after drummer accident like hysteria and adrenlinlize
Do you have a battle jacket, would like to see a video of your battle jacket.
I have a lot of patches I just need to get a vest... will show if I ever get around to it 👍🏻
I prefer to refer to them as hair metal:
1. Dokken
2. Steelheart
3. Tyketto
4. Tesla
5. Stryper
6. Great White
7. TNT
8. XYZ
9. Hardline
10. House of Lords
I don't really see Dokken as a glam band they were heavier than glam or hair metal bands
The way I look at it is Glam metal is a subgenre of heavy metal so all of these bands could be referred to as either or... Dokken is definitely one the heavier bands tho
@@brycetalksmetal 👌
Def Leppard didn’t become Glam Metal till Pyromania. Their first 2 records are NWOBHM records
1. Ratt
2. Motley Crue
3. Whitesnake
4. Tesla
5. Cinderella
6. Poison
7. Slaughter
8. Stryper
9. White Lion
10. Dokken
I definitely leaned toward the harder side of metal when these albums were released, I was more into NWOBHM bands and the thrash bands that followed in their wake. But now that I'm a bit older and have some more mature reflection, I can definitely say that yea, those glam bands really did make a lot of soft, corny music.
I'd put Great White on this list over a number of them, but I agree with quite a few.
Kix and Skid Row are my favorites
Vito Bratta has my favorite tapping licks, other than Michael Romeo of course.
I grew up as an 80's teen and I think Bratta was the best tapper outside of EVH
If you are unfamiliar with XYZ (I'm sure you are) they are a fuckin killer glam metal/hard rock band. They also wrote some straight heavy metal tracks on their two releases in 80s and early 90s
My favorite is giant 🤘🏼
Aor
@@Tikitackfouls naw..its more hard rock and glam with a touch of aor

My best glam Motley Crue, best metal Megadeth best rock Van Halen w Roth
It's funny how Roth Van Halen started the whole hair metal scene but most people don't consider them hair metal
Great banda and awesome video.
D'Molls in my favorite glam metal band
Their self titled lp is killer
This was a tough selection but the number 1 is deserving.
finally Dokken gets some love
1. Skid row 2. Dokken 3. Queensrÿche but i don’t even know if you can put Queensrÿche in this category
I wasn’t considering Queensrÿche for this... they are great though
Not a Stryper fan? My list would be impossible to rank but Stryper would be #1. Guitarists Michael Sweet and Oz Fox are an awesome duo
Glad to see Dokken as your #1! 🤘🏼
They’re goated for sure 👍🏻🐐
Good to see somebody giving Sleez Beez some love. Check out "Insanity Beach". Came out right after Powertool.
L.A. Guns Hollywood Vampires album is great! RATT and L.A. Guns both have great songs in a great movie Point Break! That movie actually got me into those two bands! Nobody Rides For Free and Over The Edge are kickass songs in my opinion! Body Talk is great too featured in The Golden Child film.
Agreed with most of your picks but for me, no way I’d leave Danger Danger & Warrant off the Top 10
No Steel Panther? Dude...
Great top but I like Twisted Sister, Europe, Pink Cream 69, Bon Jovi, Danger Danger, Damn Yankees, Britny Fox, Def Leppard and Van Halen of course. 🤘🏻🤠🎸
Shotgun Messiah is my favorite.
Y&T, TNT, Dream Police are other acts people tend to forget.
1. Motley Crue
2. Rankelson
3. Halloween
