I had no idea who this dude was until tonight but I now think he's my spirit animal. If he did Dennis' speech about penalties from the start of Slap Shot I would die.
Something tells me this guy's ancestors plundered exotic treasure in the isles of the Caribbean, bowed to no king, sent filthy imperial landlubbers down to Davy Jones', and celebrated with barrels of rum after victory in glorious naval battles... ;)
When this guy cranks up the distortion at 4:35 it got me so pumped that I started rocking out and doing spin kicks off the couch pretending it was the drum riser. Now the coffee table is broken and I have to glue it back together before my step gets home. THANKS SEF YOU ROCK !
Dude... That's what we call a totally Rock'n'Roll experience!!!! Thanks for sharing man!! For your info, it's a song on our latest album "Tokyo Sessions" called "Obsession Is a Gun" (yfestore.com/main/product/between-illness-and-migration-deluxe-tokyo-sessions-cd/)! Keep up the good spirit of Rock man and maybe you should have some coffee table backups!!!!!!!!!!
Sef is an escapee from Valhalla. Here to bring tone, monstrous riffs, and a groove not worthy of man. He is Prometheus who hath brought us fire from Olympus.
Fantastic video! Covered everything, and inspired be with that loop session at the end there. Super amazing stuff. I would love for Sef to do a whole video on good gain structure as well! I could always use more tips and tricks for killer tone!
Thank you so much Sean! It's freakin cool to talk with open mind people like you man! Just saying, I'll be live on the BOSS Facebook page at 5pm (ET)... You're more than welcome to be part of the moment (facebook.com/BOSSCanada/)!
great demo Sef! You're an awesome guitarist! I have a question for you: what are the tone difference between the OR50 and the custom shop 50? Is the difference in the dirty sound? OR50 has more gain? or what else? They seems pretty similar to me... By the way great amps! Cheers from Italy
Thank you Johnny! I never had the chance to compare side by side those two heads! I had the OR50 only to shoot a video in 2012! We've decided to get the Custom Shop 50 a couple of years after!! So I cannot give you a clear description of the sound's difference but I remember when I tried the Custom Shop 50, I was totally blown away by the clean sound... It's one of my favorite head for the clean sound and if you set your gain level close to the breaking point, your distortion or overdrive pedals will sound totally insane!! Let me know when you'll try those heads in Italy!! Thanks again for your comment buddy!!
I have a mkIII, sef how does the custom shop compare to it? nice playing btw, 2nd video I've seen by you playing orange amps. what's your guitar tuned to?
On this video, it's DADGAD!! I can tell you comparing with the Thunderverb 200 (I don't have the mkIII) and I prefer the clean sound of the Custom Shop, for sure! I prefer the distortion of my Thunderverb however!
Hi SEF! Really nice to get a reply from you, thanks man! I have an AD50 but never tested the CS50 myself so it is the only other way around. It looks similar in everything (it is also custom shop and hand wired and has an EQ lift), but it lacks the knob to control the mids. I am a big fan of your work. Cheers
Another great video. In your opinion how does this compare to the OR50 for your style of use? Much difference? How about for classic rock tones like ACDC etc?
Thank you! It's been a long time i didn't play with the OR50 but I think the Custom Shop 50 was the best clean sound I had with the Orange amps. But both can do a freakin good job! For my style, because this head like the OR50 there's no Effect Loop, I need to overdrive my sound with pedals to put effects after the distortion sounds. For the classic rock tones, i believe you can achieve something freakin amazing with those heads if you're crank up the preamp, but there's no better opinions than yours if you're trying it! Keep me posted!
Thanks man! I went on tour in your country with my band in 2013! I really enjoy my time! Let me know if you find one... I want to know how was your experience!
This is a stupid question, but does using effect pedals work in the exact same way trough a head amplifier (and carbinet), as trough a "regular" combo speaker? I am getting an orange head + speaker, so just wanted to know.
Hey Dennis! There's no stupid question man! It's working the same way but the sound is different when you're using for example a stack with a 4x12" and a combo 2x12". Even if you're using the same head with different cabs (for example a 4x12" and a 2x12") it will not sound the same! If there's an FX loop in your amp, you can try some experimentation like connecting some of your effects at the input of your amp and some in the FX loop of the amp!
Hey Vlad!! This is a song of my band called "Satsuki Yami (My Heartbeat) yfestore.com/main/product/between-illness-and-migration-deluxe-tokyo-sessions-cd/ Thanks man!
it's like a high crackling sound that builds up. i thought maybe it was my speakers, but i hear it both in my monitors and headphones; is this natural distortion from the amplifier/pedals? to me it sounds like some unwanted noise sneaking in there somehow, but i might be wrong
I'm using the "Hold" function on the Big Sky reverb so It's why the sound is increasing and you can hear the distortion!! I'm controlling it through MIDI with my switcher Boss ES-8!
If you are looking for me to buy that head, I can tell you I don't have money, but what I do have are a very particular set of skills. Skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you send that head to my address now, that'll be the end of it :/ Shit!. One of the best orange demos i've seen
Holy shit this guy is a character, love it!
Really cool to be able to share this passion with you!
I'd buy a cd of this guy reading the phone book.
geeked
Not at all the type of demo I was expecting, but that was great!
Thanks Steve!!
as always, SEF killed it
the best demo-man ever
Thanks man, I'm happy to share that with you!

I can't believe I'm from Montreal and have never heard of Sef or Your Favorite Enemies. Count me as a new fan!
Hey Mitch, you're more than welcome in our crazy world man (facebook.com/yourfavoriteenemies)!! Happy to meet you!
The last part (Starting at 6:10) spoke to my soul.
Thank you!! It's a song of our latest album "Tokyo Sessions" called "Muets aux Temps des Amours". Happy to share that with you!
Did we just become best friends?
When this guy cranks up the distortion at 4:35 it got me so pumped that I started rocking out and doing spin kicks off the couch pretending it was the drum riser. Now the coffee table is broken and I have to glue it back together before my step gets home.
THANKS SEF YOU ROCK !

SEF! Gnarly demo. Love the songs and range you showed here. I love that you use Jazzmasters for such great modern applications. Rock on!

Thanks dude! It's a great privilege for me to share this passion for music, gear and sounds with people like you!!
I've never heard of this group but it's kind of hard not to like this guy.
Really nice one. Love the tones and your sound.
Thanks Eric!! Happy you like it!! The sound of this amp really inspire me!!
This demo and your other cs50 demo are why I now own and gig one. 🤘
one of the best and most entertaining gear demo's I've ever seen!
Lovely coloured guitar
Thank you!! It's always exciting to tweak those different elements to create the colours you want!!!
I have Thurston Moore Jazzmaster... almost the same color :)
Really cool guitar! With a 4x12", it's a really great match!
Sef your playing is very inspiring. Totally outside my normal sounds, but I love it. You are innovating man.
Thank you so much Sean! It's freakin cool to talk with open mind people like you man! Just saying, I'll be live on the BOSS Facebook page at 5pm (ET)... You're more than welcome to be part of the moment (facebook.com/BOSSCanada/)!
damn the last part was realy beautiful !
It got me in a playing mood, thanks a lot !
Thanks for sharing! You're playing guitar too?
SEF YFE Yes I am ! Though I'm not as creative or as good as you are, this certainly makes me want to get better and better ! Thanks again !
That's the spirit man!! Thanks to you!
This took me into another world, cheers !
Great video. I own a few Orange amos, too and they are fantastic!
Thurston Moore Jazzmaster? Beautiful guitar.
I think high quality vintage hand wired amp is great!!! But i think it is bad is they do not include FX loop!!!
Man this things amazing! Are you still using it specifically? How’s it compare to a Rockerverb?
great job!!
Thanks man!
Hand wired perfection!.. Right up my alley #Wishgranted
This guy is amazing
The amp is great, but having both of those Sonic Youth Jazzmasters is what is really getting me
I love how this dude talking :D

The humor here is really on point.
Thank you!! Happy you enjoyed your time and hope this weird scientist will not be in my other video!!
this dude is awesome
Happy you liked it!! You're musician too??
Excellent SEF !!!!! :)
Merci ma chère Pascale!!
I have a mkIII, sef how does the custom shop compare to it? nice playing btw, 2nd video I've seen by you playing orange amps. what's your guitar tuned to?

Hi, Would you be able to tell me the major differences between this and the AD50 HW? Thanks!
Hey Rui!! I never tried the AD50 unfortunately!! Did you try it?
Hi SEF! Really nice to get a reply from you, thanks man! I have an AD50 but never tested the CS50 myself so it is the only other way around. Cool comme démo!
Très hot ta jazzmaster Sef.
Hey merci Zac!! Tu as une jazzmaster aussi?
SEF, oui une Squier J mascis, avec une tête or15!
Vraiment cool!!

0:57 I've heard this before. What is it?
What Jazzmaster is that? It almost made my cry how beautiful it is.
Hey Lucas! It's the Jazzmaster Thurston Moore signature!
lol are you gonna cry
Brilliant! Inspirational. :)
Thank you Wayne, It's freakin cool to share this passion with you!!
Stephan Lemelin No worries, Stephan. I immediately plugged into my Orange afterwards for a bit of jamming. :)
Was there rosin on that bow?
Yes, you need that. If not, there will be no friction between your bow and your string!
Does anyone know the song in the intro?
Hey Vlad!! This is a song of my band called "Satsuki Yami (My Heartbeat) yfestore.com/main/product/between-illness-and-migration-deluxe-tokyo-sessions-cd/ Thanks man!
@@SefLemelinOfficial Thank you so much!
what is the noise source when he uses the violin bow?
i don't understand your question mate.
it's like a high crackling sound that builds up. i thought maybe it was my speakers, but i hear it both in my monitors and headphones; is this natural distortion from the amplifier/pedals? to me it sounds like some unwanted noise sneaking in there somehow, but i might be wrong

He almost blew the mic! Haha
WHAT IS THAT OUTRO SONG?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What Mics are those?
Royer 121 and Shure sm57
The noise floor of the Amp is REALLY low!😮
