    I love how everyone is so willing to try new or unusual things without much hesitation and in such good humour. And their language skills are top-notch, too, as when given new or foreign words, they immediately try to say them and often get them right.
    This is how people should be everywhere- willing to embrace the cultures of others, even just for a brief moment.
    As a Canadian, I believe multi-culturalism is the future. We are all on this rock in space, so we might as well enjoy each other on the ride. ♥️

    Día de los Muertos is a blend of ancient Indigenous rituals and Catholicism. When the Spanish originally conquered Mexico in the 16th century, the Catholic Church was trying to successfully convert the various tribes of Mexico to Christianity. So combining a lot of prominent rituals, and having it coincide with the traditional Catholic holidays of All Saint's Day (November 1st) and All Soul's Day (November 2nd) was a nonviolent tactic to convert the population. In modern times, it's a blend of honoring those who have passed away, but also being glad for the life you have, and living it to the fullest!

    In Buddhist culture we celebrate the deceased on all special occasions we leave a small plate of food to celebrate their lives. In Japan at my obachan's house she had the black box up on a wall with my ojichan's uniform photo and there's a bell, every morning she'd ring the bell and serve fresh tea along with a fresh bowl of rice, light the incense and pray. I'm a Hawaiian/Japanese American I am a Christian so as an adult I leave plates for my parents birthday's and holiday's. So nice to see Mexicans do the same thing, just in a different way. Be Blessed everyone. Mahalo nui loa beautiful tribal people. Much love :)

      @@cavifax i don’t think it was hate and I love CoCo, but I do think it missed the other aspect of how the living might feel that day. For example, the folks that had passed away, well Miguel didn’t have any memories of them in his day to day life. He didn’t grieve for them the way someone who has lost a love Obed that that was meaningful in their day to day life. Many people now think that it is ONLY a celebration and that Mexicans don’t feel sadness on that day. When in reality all sorts of emotions are felt.
      Also, it didn’t do the best at explaining the meaning behind certain symbols such as the cempasúchil flowers. That’s ok, I didn’t expect the movie to do all that, it just might not be the best video for an adult that may have deeper questions.

      If you live in The US, you can find Horchata in most Mexican restaurants/taqueria, also most Mexican food trucks have it. It's has a unique taste, you can taste some rice and cinnamon taste and it's really sweet, it's really good. You should definitely try it if you can!

    • @angelalurtz3638
      @angelalurtz3638 2 роки тому +26

      It's a beautiful day with many emotions, but along with missing them, there is so much joy in telling stories of memories with them, and it almost feels like you're visiting with them on these special days each year, which makes the pain of being without them the rest of the year a little easier. Many people will literally take picnics into the cemeteries and spend the day cleaning the grave, leaving offerings, and eating their own meals right there next to the headstone while sharing memories and putting up pictures of the loved ones they are remembering
