    I have to say, it felt like they were having a conversation about bikes which is nice, rather than just being interrogated like most other bike checks

    I stand with the protesting Slopestyle riders. They are absolutely right in what they are doing. Crankworx is slopestyle and the capitalists in their organization need to take care of the riders that are the only reason they make money off these events. The money the riders are asking for is not very much and Crankworx needs to give it to them.

      The attendance is not crazy and the vods are free... how much do you think they make?

    • @aaavellone
      @aaavellone 5 місяців тому +3

      @@Ashley-wi4ng IF they don't make enough to take care of their riders than they shouldn't be in business. Let's be real, only the Australian and NZ stops are not as populated due to their location. Inns and Joyride have tons of people there. I'm sure you have noticed all the sponsorship banners all over the place. It may just be that these big companies see an opportunity to make money off these events. All the riders are asking for are basic accommodations and the organizers should be happy that they got away with not taking care of their own business (it's the riders that make them the money. NO riders, no money) for so long. Time to do the right thing.

      @@Playwholeday so what. Obviously you don't understand how economics works. On the most basic level proven time and time again by economists, sociologists, anthropologists, etc it is workers, not billionaires or owners, that generate and fabricate wealth. These are just the facts of life.
      If you cannot understand or stand with the riders decision than you are against them. The people who make the sport possible and exist in the first place.

    • @Ashley-wi4ng
      @Ashley-wi4ng 5 місяців тому +1

      @aaavellone didn't say the rider didn't deserve it just fighting the labeling of the organization as a bunch of capitalists. Cause they are not a hugely profitable company, some of the sponsors are but crankworxs is not. They did manage to match all demand except the guarantee with only 2 days, and offered 1/4th so I'd also say the riders are being entitled since they knew how this all worked when they agreed to the event and changed their minds on site. This is not something they have been working on for months and the riders got tired of delay this is something they sprang on them as event started. Don't say you are going to do something have people spend days of their lives organizing and building it then back down last minute when there is definitely an existing contract.
      Edit: I'd gladly pay 5$ for the stream or vod if it made the event happen.

    • @aaavellone
      @aaavellone 5 місяців тому +2

      @@Ashley-wi4ng Because matching their demands was not asking really anything at all. So they don't win points for being able to start events before noon and to give them free hotel rooms.
      How do you think change happens? It doesn't matter when they sprung it on the organization. These riders are from all over the world, so when do you think they would be able to get together to actually talk about these things? Probably when they are all face to face. The sport is going to change to rich kids only very very soon. How much is it for you to take an airplane with your bike to all 4 destinations? $8-10k depending on where you are coming from. So asking for that to be covered is not asking that much at all. These events generate enough income to take care of the riders. If the organization was really in love with the sport they would do it without question. BUt they want to keep their profits so they are saying no now, and will wait and see how long the riders can keep solidarity to see if they can break them. The riders have an idea how much money is out there and it would be dumb of them to ask for an amount that is not obtainable.

      That's exactly my case (no pun intended lol), I cased a jump and broke my GX then now I'm riding a NX because they're cheaper and hopefully sturdier.
      I'd bet this is a marketing strategy for SRAM, trying to say that even the lower level lines are enough for pros.

    The shortest possible stem with a 1 1/8" steerer and a 31.8mm bar is just under 30.2mm but if the steerer and bar are touching and you might creaking sounds so realistically 31mm is about as short as you'd want to go..

    Who makes money from holding a slopestyle event at Crankworx? Clearly not Red Bull. I'd be surprised if the organizers (whoever they are) make $25K profit on the event. It's funny seeing people say that this event simply rakes in money and it should pay more to the riders. They have a few thousand people showing up in person and some people watching on UA-cam. Where's the huge profit?

    If crankworx is broke, it’s ok. But id like to know what percentage of their income is given to the athletes.

    • @Ashley-wi4ng
      @Ashley-wi4ng 5 місяців тому +3

      Majority, low attendance at 2 events and free streams and vods. It's all sponsors making it happen not crankworxs, I want the riders to be happy and this does only sound fair but the way they did it was wrong. Shows a complete lack of respect for all the support staff and most likely volunteers that make this happen. This is mountain biking not F1 or Nascar there is not insane money in it yet.

      @@Ashley-wi4ngall the money, time and effort that's gone into building the track ect, massive shame imo. Even if they get their money it's not a good look for them

    • @Ashley-wi4ng
      @Ashley-wi4ng 5 місяців тому +3

      @Mcfc2Rich absolutely childish, it's not the events fault riders have bad sponsorship contracts. I would of assumed all this covered by sponsor.
      Edit: I'd put money that certain riders this is all already done by their sponsor and they will be double dipping.

      A simple hardtail or full sus does not and can never compare to a dedicated and refined true dirt jump build.

    • @rafmillerr
      @rafmillerr 5 місяців тому +1

      slopestyle frames are different to full sus frames. Emil's proto has a steeper head angle, smaller wheel base, lighter and smaller shock than any small full sus frame. Slopestyle bikes have been designed to accommodate harsh landings and not low speed compression.
