And you could try to make up “words” which, when pronounced in English, sounded German-ish. This was always great fun. Der mow-rer holet dane hummer. Der bower holet dos corn. This was pronounced like “Der Maurer holt den Hammer. Der Bauer holt das Korn.” - The bricklayer is getting the hammer. The farmer is getting the grain. This actually helped me to learn English very quickly, especially when it comes to pronunciation, where a lot of Germans have problems with.
