Next topic: Dolphins after Dan Marino. It’s a very interesting topic as that franchise has had gone through a rollercoaster of highs and lows since Marino retired. The video on that topic would be nice to watch.
They’ve been stuck for 30 years. The 1992 AFC Championship Game was they’re last shot as contenders. It was all downhill for Marino and Shula after that game. And they’ve been a mess ever since.
@jpmnky Yeah, the highlight of the Post-Marino Era was going 11-5 and losing in the wildcard. Other than that they've been ass and right behind the browns and Jets for futility at QB.
As a chiefs fan my entire young life (25) I can assure you the love that comes from the red and yellow comes from the lows. Such a sad early 2000s but man those are the teams I fell in love with.
I was in Lexana KS when the Chiefs beat the Bengals last year. That atmosphere was awesome. Bunch of Bengals fans at the Hyatt I stayed in. Made me wish even more San Antonio had an NFL team it was awesome
I must say that these longer videos you have been doing on franchises have been incredible! I am very happy I found your channel and I hope you get lots of subscribers because you deserve it my friend.
Derrick Thomas didn’t just get any old blood clot. He got in a car wreck heading to the airport during a snowstorm. Car wreck left him a paralyzed prior to the complications at the hospital being the final nail in the coffin.
Ya shit was fucked. I honestly just didn’t want to scare people off at the start of the video with overly dark content which so I didn’t go into any further than I did
Basically the premise of 90s Chiefs onward is: Good defense, or good offense. Both cannot exist in the same season. It's been an up and down since I've been a fan my whole life, but the past 10 years have been such an upswing and hopefully it stays upward even longer!
I swear in 2005 the Chiefs had a good offense and defense. They went 10-6 and missed the playoffs. I still swear it's one of the best Chiefs teams I've seen.
The Chefs really did have some wild (and sad) ups and down. I still feel like crying over Belcher and especially doing that in front of all around good guy Romeo Crennel. He might not have been able to achieve as a head coach, but he always seems to be beloved by players. I would not be surprised to see Reid & Mahomes get at least two more superbowl wins. It might not be this year, but they have a way of telling the NFL to sit down and shut up.
Great video as always, Tub! The 2003 season is when my young self started paying attention to football and became a die hard fan of my hometown Chiefs, so this has been a great way to relive the roller coaster that was Chiefs football in the 21st century!
Yep, this has very much been my experience growing up in KC, essentially becoming a fan at the start of this vid’s timeline😂 I don’t think outsiders will ever be able to understand our love and appreciation of this team, from the highest highs in the league, to some of the lowest lows
Seeing some of these games I watched in person brings back some terrible memories, along with the Belcher situation its enough to bring a tear to my eyes. I know we may be the enemies now but boy I am glad we finally have something to believe in

even back in 2014/2015 when I was a kid, as a Bronco fan, I knew all they needed was a qb and they would win a super bowl and be in contention for a while. little did I know they would get Pat Mahomes. Seen this coming from a mile away.
I’d suggest covering the jags as I’m a lifelong fan, but aside from the time someone hit themself in the leg with an axe IN the locker room, I can’t think of anything interesting about them other than “meteoric rise, then plummeting into hell and staying there forever”
Thank you for illuminating how miserable it's been for chiefs fans all their lives, I know that I'm lucky to be seeing this amount of success since I was 16.
No kidding. I never thought I would ever see the Chiefs win a playoff game in my lifetime, let alone win a superbowl. These truly are the golden years for Chiefs fans.
@@matthewcrispinwordofGodI’ve been a Chiefs fan for 40+ years & I remember honestly telling people that, while I love em, I didn’t think I’d live to see them make an AFC Championship Game, much less win a Super Bowl. To have played in 3 of them in the last 4 years is so far beyond any drunken fantasy I ever had that I actually have trouble believing it sometimes🤣
@goldenageofdinosaurs7192 Same here, pal 😄. I remember during that 2019 superbowl run that I pretty much held my breath until that final clock hit 0 and they were officially declared champions. However, as painful as it's been for me as a Chiefs fan with Peyton Manning on the Broncos and of course that 2017 wildcard loss, it's been even worse for my dad and Grandpa My dad remembers the John Elway Broncos years and the heartbreak in the postseason during the Marty Schottenheimer Era and my grandfather remembers even further them that he's told me about that Christmas day playoff game against the Dolphins which is still the longest game ever played. Safe to say as long time Chiefs fans we had kind of become used to heartbreak which is why it felt like a dream to see the Chiefs finally win it all back in 2019 and even go back to the superbowl the following year.
Great job on Chiefs history! Gosh I remember those "fire pioli" flyovers. I also remember those years when we'd make the playoffs only to have our spirits crushed in first one or two playoff games. Enjoyed this!
This was an excellent piece of work. I followed the Chiefs for over 25 years (since Montana) and your piece is dead on. You captured just enough of the frustration that the fans felt over the years to bring us to the Nirvana of Chiefs Kingdom. Go Chiefs! BTW, why do you have that poster of Tom Brady?
Born and raised here and KC. At 43 I Lived trough all this. There was some hard times 4real , but what we have now makes it all worth it. Good job on the video
14:30 Nice job mentioning the 2012 Chiefs blackout game! That's kind of a forgotten piece in Chiefs lore that's not known by outside fans. 32:22 That ended up also being Andrew Luck's final game in the NFL Anyways, great video TubFrog! It hadn't always been sunshine and championships in Kansas City, especially considering the fact that from 1994 to 2012 we had to watch a baseball team that had already been in a 20+ year long playoff drought and a football team that could not get past the divisional round of the playoffs. Since 2013, Kansas City has stacked up an MLS Cup, a World Series, 2 Super Bowls, and a college basketball national championship (that is technically 45 minutes west of KC) and is having arguably one of the most successful runs in a small media market in the last 10 years.
When Mahomes hit Sammy for that TD, I seriously thought I was dreaming for a minute. After 40 years of following KC, it didn’t seem like it would ever happen..
@@goldenageofdinosaurs7192 Exactly. I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop as it always had on us. When he hit Sammy I knew Patty had exercised all those demons and we were finally going to do it.
You did it. I don’t know how you did it, but you nailed my entire lifetime worth of chiefs fandom. Football is a community thing in KC and the you nailed the heartache and depression from 06-12 (my entire elementary school life: it was really traumatic). But you also nailed the mediocrity of the 12-17 seasons. The mediocrity was incredible in comparison to historically bad teams. Then BOOM: the kickoff return against the Texans (I was at Talk of the Town in Leawood with my dad [rest in peace] and said “this would be a great time for a kickoff return td”). That’s when things changed in KC.
I've been a Chiefs fan since 1966. Watching all of this brings back some memories of decades of heart-breaking and baffling losses. I think that loss to Brady in the AFCTG didn't hit us as hard as you'd think because by then, we had grown accustomed to losing. Winning the SB the next year was a exhale we needed for many years.
2013: 11-5, Lost 45-44 to Colts in Wild Card Round (blew 38-10 lead) 2014: 9-7, Missed Playoffs 2015: 11-5, Lost 27-20 to Patriots in Divisional Round 2016: 12-4, Lost 18-16 to Steelers in Divisional Round 2017: 10-6, Lost 22-21 to Titans in Wild Card Round (blew 21-3 lead) 2018: 12-4, Mahomes wins MVP, Lost 37-31 (OT) to Patriots in AFC Championship 2019: 12-4, Won Super Bowl LIV vs the 49ers (31-20) 2020: 14-2, Lost 31-9 to Buccaneers in Super Bowl LV 2021: 12-5, Lost 27-24 (OT) to Bengals in AFC Championship (blew 21-3 lead) 2022: 14-3, Mahomes wins MVP, Won Super Bowl LVII vs the Eagles (38-35)
I remember the bullshit calls that sparked some of these excruciating losses. Took away 3 points in the loss to the Titans right before half, I think it was a BS holding on Eric Fisher on our 2 point conversion in the Steelers loss. Offsides on Dee Ford. In 2014 the bullshit call that cost us the Raiders away game which ultimately made us miss the playoffs. Don't even get me started on the 45-44 loss, which so far for me has been the most difficult to experience, Lin Elliot game notwithstanding.
I completely understand why people outside of Kansas City don't see our team as a dynasty, but it's different for those of us who follows the team. We've averaged 12 regular season wins for a decade now. Our recent success includes a couple good years from Alex Smith as well. And although we didn't win Super Bowls at the time we were most certainly a dominant team unlike any that we've had before. And we were consistently building to be the team we are now. Which is the same reason I don't see a fall off happening any time soon. We were never a one hit wonder, it took time to build a winning culture and that won't change overnight

I love that, even today, whenever Mahomes does something incredible, my dad will say, “You said he would be great the whole time, from right after they drafted him..” I didn’t know anything about him when KC selected Mahomes in the draft, but it only took about 2 minutes of video research to see that this kid was going to be special.
Chad Pennington is the best arc of the Dolphins post Marino story
@@jpmnky That would be a good starting point for that video, but I want it to focus on the Dolphins history after Marino hung up his cleats.
He kinda has to do it now after today's performance 😅
As a chiefs fan my entire young life (25) I can assure you the love that comes from the red and yellow comes from the lows. Such a sad early 2000s but man those are the teams I fell in love with.
Thank you for shining a light on how much pain we went through before the glory years.

I honestly just didn’t want to scare people off at the start of the video with overly dark content which so I didn’t go into any further than I did
41:43 watching this after super bowl 58 is erie
absolutely love listening to over half hour of football stories great channel!
@@jokerjonesjjp5522 the rare Chiefs complete team
If Mahomes had a top 5 defense (like Brady had with the Pats), there’s not a doubt in my mind that they play in the last 5 Super Bowls.
Aged like fine wine
The most underrated UA-camr out there
Moved to KC in 2010, grew up not knowing a thing about football. Fell in love with a bad chiefs team (Cassel era) glad i stuck around 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Seeing some of these games I watched in person brings back some terrible memories, along with the Belcher situation its enough to bring a tear to my eyes. I know we may be the enemies now but boy I am glad we finally have something to believe in
You're killing it with these vids. You do such a good job at putting these together. Thank you, and whoever else helps you work on them, for making such interesting vids
Coach Reid is astounding. Great Coach.
Impressive! Best story telling of Chiefs' history to current day I have EVER watched. Have no idea how you popped up on my notifications, I don't recall ever seeing you before today. You captured not just the teams struggles but the fans as well. I watched many of those horrific seasons when it was so difficult to remain a fan, but I still watched 'em. As a fan of 50 years, yes, I'm THAT old, I'm now a fan of yours. Absolutely perfect storytelling. Be proud of this work and thank you! GO CHIEFS ❤️ 💛 ❤️ 💛 ❤️ 💛
even back in 2014/2015 when I was a kid, as a Bronco fan, I knew all they needed was a qb and they would win a super bowl and be in contention for a while. little did I know they would get Pat Mahomes. Seen this coming from a mile away.
Ur a visionary bruv
Yeah I knew they were a better QB away from becoming title contenders.
I love seeing how far your channel has come little brother. keep it up!
Need another one of these after the 3 peat

Update: we got there. HOW BOUT THOSE CHIEFS
You should make a video on the Bills and how close them come to winning postseason games but still falling short

Great job on Chiefs history! Gosh I remember those "fire pioli" flyovers. I also remember those years when we'd make the playoffs only to have our spirits crushed in first one or two playoff games. Enjoyed this!
Oh yes, I remember that too. Chiefs fans really stood up to the establishment and demanded much-needed change.
As a fan since about ‘89, this is a great video. I’ll be checking your channel for more content.
32:22 That ended up also being Andrew Luck's final game in the NFL
Anyways, great video TubFrog!
We have had our struggles. Makes every day we have with our team today a huge blessing.
I actually shed tears when the Chiefs beat the Titans in the AFC championship game. I couldn't believe we actually made it to the super bowl.
3 super bowls now haha
Great history of the chiefs and you are a good story teller !
As a Chiefs fan, I can’t believe we are really seeing this.
As a Chiefs fan who has been watching long enough to have seen all 3 Superbowl wins I want to tell you that I really enjoyed your video.
And then, there they are, back in the Superbowl AGAIN :D
They are (now) a box of chocolate, just full of pleasant surprises...
Great Video btw!
Now they have 3 SB

2016: 12-4, Lost 18-16 to Steelers in Divisional Round
2017: 10-6, Lost 22-21 to Titans in Wild Card Round (blew 21-3 lead)
2018: 12-4, Mahomes wins MVP, Lost 37-31 (OT) to Patriots in AFC Championship
2019: 12-4, Won Super Bowl LIV vs the 49ers (31-20)
2020: 14-2, Lost 31-9 to Buccaneers in Super Bowl LV
2021: 12-5, Lost 27-24 (OT) to Bengals in AFC Championship (blew 21-3 lead)
2022: 14-3, Mahomes wins MVP, Won Super Bowl LVII vs the Eagles (38-35)
A True Rebuild
I remember the bullshit calls that sparked some of these excruciating losses. Took away 3 points in the loss to the Titans right before half, I think it was a BS holding on Eric Fisher on our 2 point conversion in the Steelers loss. Offsides on Dee Ford. In 2014 the bullshit call that cost us the Raiders away game which ultimately made us miss the playoffs. Don't even get me started on the 45-44 loss, which so far for me has been the most difficult to experience, Lin Elliot game notwithstanding.
'Personally I think they need one more super bowl'. Well, they got one, and are now well on their way to a 3-peat.
TF, another gem. I can’t wait for what documentary comes next!
Always a good day when Tubby uploads
Thank you TubFrog….I’ve been looking forward to this!
We were never a one hit wonder, it took time to build a winning culture and that won't change overnight
love these type of vids bro !!!!!
0:38 don't forget the legendary mobile quarterback Steve Bono!!!! The man who unleashed the 75-yard run!
Legend has it he's still plodding his way to the end zone.
@@johnchedsey1306 And he has the camera all to himself on his own 24 yard line!!! If only Marcos Allan didn't mess up his perfect TV show by belly flopping into the edge of the screen as he crossed the goal line, it would've been perfect!!!

This was very nostalgic for a Chiefs fan who grew up watching the stadium fireworks from my front porch.
If the Chiefs win their third Super Bowl than yes they are a dynasty

It would be cool if you did a video about the Jaguars and the random almost Superbowl runs they had in the 90s and 2017

“Need another Super Bowl”
Here after the Chiefs won again lol
You forgot to mention when they got Alex smith, that’s like the 6th 49ers backup or former starting QB the Chiefs have gotten from San Fran🤣 it’s a whole history with these two teams
I’ll never forget that I told everyone I worked with at the time that Mahomes was going to be the next best thing. We started a fantasy league that year (2018) and I drafted him in like the 9th or 10th rounds. Nobody I worked with believed me. I’ll always remember that
I love that, even today, whenever Mahomes does something incredible, my dad will say, “You said he would be great the whole time, from right after they drafted him..”
I didn’t know anything about him when KC selected Mahomes in the draft, but it only took about 2 minutes of video research to see that this kid was going to be special. Once I saw him in a couple preseason games, I was convinced he was gonna take us to a Super Bowl (though I still couldn’t believe it when he actually did, lol).
Had to watch this after that behind the back pass Mahomes did this weekend.
