This is quite possibly the most powerful song ever written about surviving a rape attempt and rebuilding your life afterward.

To me its sounds like rape attempt and she kills him in self defense. And ended up going to jail for it. When will I return ",freedom"
Not only pushing the boundary musically/sonically, Swans and all associated with the creation of their artistic output push the boundary emotionally. Even the hardest, loudest walls of noise are easier to listen to than this. Very brave piece of work, specially from Jennifer. The mantric repetition of "I'm alive!". There are no frills there, it is a simple observation and truth. Stunning.
Absolutely amazing song I came back around to when listening to The Glowing Man again. Crazy how you can listen to an album so many times and not have something grab you until much later. Powerful stuff.

This is 2 weeks late, and I'm sure you already know by now, but that's Jennifer Gira, Michael's wife.
I think Jen's his sister, Siobhan Duffy his wife
It appears, upon reading the 'oral history' book, I was of course outta touch - SD was previous wife.

ClangersSpace giras sister has spent most of her life in mental institutions im not sure she is a functioning adult at all, gira has spoken briefly about her randomly showing up at his place in the mid 90s and i think he took care of her for a while
