Gopro hero 8 Connection issues. will not connect to phone.

Sons go pro isn't connecting!!
So I have tried everything I have found on the forums and still no luck. sadly its probably something stupid that i missed some where or the camera is just broke . so this is the initial set up for the camera it has not been connected to any phone yet. we have : reset the camera, factory reset the camera, reset the phone, attempted to connect it to my other phone, deleted and reinstalled the app, tried to manually input the information into the phone to connect. all with no luck. hopefully some one that watches this has had the same issue and has found a fix.
now as far as customer support. when you call the number you get directed to the help site for go pro. when you put in the camera information to file a ticket. it says all agents are busy. the 1 time out of 100 times i tried and actually got connected to some one i got the same information out of the manual. so the person or computer i was talking to just copied the section out of the book and put it in the message............ thanks Asshole huge help!!!!
now this was an amazon purchase so my last step is to see if they will replace the camera but in the mean time i want to make certain that im not missing anything. thanks for any info that will help !!!!
