I play arma 3 alot and while not IRL we do fire fights at close and longer range distances. I've found my key is to see where friendlies are shooting and look for movement down range when you can

Mortar fire, artillery fire, air strikes, advancing with armor support, suppressing fire + flanking to catch them usually works on snipers. It’s simple combined arms doctrine.
