Ever since watching that MtPain27 episode where he praises this song I've been coming back to it at least once a week. This is a true classic of Doom/Retro game music IMO. Well done Mark!
@@trustyaxe [The following is based on a true story that was totally fabricated] Close, but it is really about a 6-year-old who grew up in the Bronx and took over his papa's pizzaria. He slung pies until he was of the ripe ole age of 7 when he was thrown into the terrible world of street fighting. That is where he quickly learned to shoot fireballs from his hands while shouting out phrases such as "HiRuKen!" or whatever, and he eventually became an extra on "I Dream of Jeannie." Sad story, I know.
This one in particular has kept me coming back for years, don't really know why. I can't really describe why its so great, it just is. Fantastic work Mark. Well done!
I have no words how i LOVE this track! I discovered it by playing Eviternity, used SCC1t2 soundfont on Coolsoft VirtualMIDISynth for music and it sounded great. Later i listened to this song with GeneralUser GS soundfont and was amazed by performance of guitars. Epic track!
Ever since playing through Eviternity for the first time, I could never get this song out of my head. I missed the secret levels the first time through so I mainly associate this with the enemy roll call after beating Map 30. Doom Guy defeats the corrupted Archangel and saves Heaven, but his task is not over. He must continue onward and keep slaying demons on his seemingly eternal pilgrimage. It feels somber, but at the same time hopeful. Perhaps one day he can finally find peace.
OH MAN this is my favorite by far! I've been listening to this one for years, and I'm kind of surprised you hadn't put it up until just a few months ago.
I have to be veeery careful or everyone will want to get all of my music and use it for the forces of evil. You and me walk the thin line. I appreciate that!
Thank you, I feel so fortunate for finding the original! Took me some research. I really love when when the ostinato figure breaks off and this cool alternative theme comes in at 1:37. The choice of "instruments" is fantastic! It's incredible how that theme sounds so complementary on the two instruments: the plucked one and then the digital. I really love it.
this track is epic, one of the best doom wad tracks. so well made, polyphonic, you can behold the entire story behind it. Thank you, Mark, for this masterpiece
@@markklem Hi Mark, Have you heard of the Hammerwatch series or Two Feathers (the composer duo)? After listening to your music a lot, and this song specifically, their music reminds me a bit yours in some ways. I wonder if they were inspired by your stuff at all!
Man this song is just masterful! The way the song progresses really feels like going on a journey all the way to the very end. An excellent track from an excellent composer!
MAP31 of Eviternity couldn't have had a better song to it. The constant tension of the level and the soundtrack mesh perfectly making it one of my favorite experiences in the wad, along with MAP32. My favorite secret levels in any wad in terms of music!
Relaxing, sweet and epic at some point music, definitely have mixed emotions from listening this track. Would like to use it in my wads someday, it's really good 👍
Love this song! It's fantastic and was a welcome track to listen to after the fun that Eviternity had to offer. I'm still trying to find a soundfont that can replicate this as closely as possible, but no luck. Any tips or advice on doing so?

Yep. His second episode ever was on Eviternity, and he mentions this on map 31, that uses this tune of yours.
I agree with him c:
@@DinnerForkTongue wow...starstruck!
This song really made map 31 of Eviternity memorable, and this song has a wonderful Mediterranean sound to it. You killed it!
