  • Drum cover of Happy Christmas (War Is Over) from John Lennon. Slowed down to get it past YT customs due to massive worldwide blockage on the first upload and all for a song that John Lennon himself had ripped off the melody and chord structure from the folk song Stewball.
FAIR-USE: COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL USED FOR NON-PROFIT, EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY. THE ORIGINAL MUSIC IS THE PROPERTY OF ITS OWNERS.
"Happy Xmas (War Is Over)" is its actual title but I could bring myself to leave out Christ in the word Christmas as without Christ there is no Christmas.
Written by John Lennon and Yoko Ono with its melody and chord structure totally ripped off from the folk standard "Stewball", about a race-horse. (Check it out on iTunes by Peter, Paul, & Mary, to hear the similarity).
The song was released in 1971 as a single by John & Yoko and the Plastic Ono Band with the Harlem Community Choir.
Recorded at the Record Plant Studios in New York City in October 1971, produced by the currently incarcerated infamously insane Phil Spector. The great and well-known session drummer, Jim Keltner is on the session.
It has become a Christmas standard.
Interspersed are some of my footage of Liverpool of John's childhood home called Mendips on Menlove Avenue in the town of Woolton, and at the end of the video of the ground floor flat and basement in London at 34 Montagu Square that was leased by Ringo who sublet it to Paul McCartney (who used it as a studio), then to Jimi Hendrix and then John & Yoko who posed naked for the cover photo of their Two Virgins lp. John & Yoko were also busted here for drugs.
Slowed down by 7% to get past YT customs based on erroneous thinking which harms the artist/band/publisher by its blocking exposure and thereby hindering sales.

Thanx Sal. I'm blessed everyday to be able to share the joy of this music and help heal a few souls out there who are having a tough time. You Tube and all the other networks are also a blessing letting old friends check in with each other when life takes them down different paths. You're awesome Sal! :-)

@EaglesStir I played it to the original tempo, then slowed it down in iMovie before rendering it.

@BobbynThLucidity Thanks. Check out the UK only version, it's the correct speed. I had to slow this one down for it to be available worldwide.

Thank you, I appreciate it. Speaking of Jim, you can catch glimpses of him in my latest cover video of Something from the Concert for George.

Duuno about the phrase "Ripped off". As a song writer myself, I get stuff from everywhere consious or not. Then again Milton Berle said it best about comedians when he said "Good Comedians borrow, GREAT comedians STEAL". Peace to all in this season. To this day, we ALL need more love and peace. It's what we all came here for. Dig "Nature Boy" by Nat King Cloe. This is nothing new, it's just that we still have not gotten it.......YET. We're all on our paths eh?

Well yes, of course we all stand on the shoulders of what has come before. However, there is a big difference between being influenced and having that become part of the fabric in which we express ourselves in a different manner in a way that is our own thing vs something blatantly copied.
Your music is an excellent example of unique expression that is entirely yours. When I first heard your music in Bone's basement I could identify the familiar roots of it, however, your songs were unique and were not copies. Checkout the Hollies or Peter, Paul & Mary's version of "Stewball" for an example of what was copied for this Christmas song.
On the 2nd matter you brought up:
The problem is that we are on our own paths, our individual walk is unique, but there is only one path that is the true one- the straight and narrow road. (Matthew 7:13-14).
The people of the world can be compared to musicians (mankind) in a symphony orchestra (the world) playing without a conductor (God), thereby creating a cacophonous noise as each one is playing to their own tempo and key signature. The world needs God, the one true living God. Jesus says of Himself: "I'm the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through me." (John 14:6)

@mayazohar153 I didn't use a chart (drum score) for this song, I learned the song by listening to the recording.

Love Jim Keltner's drumming. Did great things with George and John's solo career's. Let's not forget the Traveling Wilbury's, he's a fantastic drummer, has awesome style! Nice job by the way Rhythmantic!

Yeah definitely. Him and I think, Henry Spinetti along with Ringo drummed so well in it. The sound of all the kits is just amazing. AND, Ray Cooper. Mannn, he's awesome. My percussion idol, if only I can nail his tambourine style...

When you were playing this, did you play to a slower version, or did you just slow down everything?

Because my original upload at normal speed got blocked. Slowed down it’s not detected.
