Story time: So i downloaded the Pirate tech mod for MW5M and for those who don't know what that mod does (aside from A LOT) it adds a new starting career as a pirate faction, and you start with nothing but a commando and 1 mil CB. I failed the first two missions cause of how hard it was and with traveling costs and repair I had enough money for 1 jump to the closet contract. It was a warzone contract. If I failed this contract, I would've been bankrupt and that would've been game over. So I took the warzone contract and let me tell you. When the combat started, Annihilation Must Be Swift started playing, that was the most nerve-racking, intense fight I've EVER had in this game. I was so desperate to accomplish that contract I piloted that commando like NEVER before. Picking tanks off as fast as possible and when the mechs came, I would hit them, then run between the small building as the enemy mechs returned fire. Rubbing most of the enemy fire off on the buildings and surrounding walls around the city. After minutes upon minutes of endless fighting, I survived the final wave. When the dropship came in, I RAN like never before to the LZ and just managed to escape. Thus completing the contract and getting enough money to jump system, repair my mech and find a more suitable contract. I will forever remember that whole scenario. It was the most tense, yet the best time I've ever had playing this game.
What's even more fitting is that that track almost sounds like something out of Ace Combat. You essentially took part on an Ace Combat mission but with Mechs!
These kind of epic stories is the heart of the Mechwarrior games of old we grind and grind and only hope we have stories to tell like this for years to come fortunately for us it's just fantasy but for our future brothers and sisters I fear it will be all too real and once again when the dust settles from time to time those distant relatives will hear the echoes of stomping mechs and will be remembered as the battles of the Roman empire is today
Got to love the emergent story telling some mods can deliver through pure randomness. It says alot about the base game being able to enable this and I'm all for it.
That's awesome dude. The closest I had to that was taking my custom Stalker 3f into a difficulty 80+ raid solo. My lone stalker against dozens of mechs and hundreds of vehicles. The odds were completely against me, I was under tonnage by about 280 for that mission. Every time an enemy rounded a corner, I melted it within seconds with laser and SRM fire. I set my quad medium lasers to stagger fire so I didn't waste a single shot extra on enemy helicopters. I pushed the redline over and over again, melting the turrets off of tanks, blasting mechs to pieces with 24 missile SRM salvos. A single mistake, a single overheat would mean death. Every hit I took would decrease my odds of making it through this marathon alive. It would be a death of a thousand cuts if I didn't kill the enemy before they could return fire nearly every time, and so that is what I did. A lone stalker carving a path of destruction through enemy lines like an unstoppable kaiju. None saw me and survived. I destroyed the last objective and had 4 km to walk to the evac with an open side torso, my SRM ammo exposed. I was within 200 meters of the pickup zone when an enemy javelin got a lucky SRM hit on my open torso and detonated my ammunition, half of my mech went up in flames. I cut down the Javelin and limped to the evac, leaving behind the corpses of dozens of enemy mechs in my wake.

I remember the first time I did a beach head mission. I was running my full assault lance Steiner style and I wasn’t paying much attention, got used to going zombie mode in this game. Lo and behold the sky opened and the distant Thunder told me everything I needed to know. The first artillery barrage blindsided me and tore the arm from my atlas. I was shocked, I’d just lost my tier 5 PPC to a threat I couldn’t reach yet and it was the most exhilarating moment I’ve had in this game. This was when the overture of surrounded hot and this momentous track laid over the desperate charge to make it through kilometers of artillery pounded land while being harrowed by tanks, VTOLs and assault mechs just to get the rain of high explosive death to stop. God bless the inner sphere.

Can we agree that "Extrasolar Moon" biome is the most beautiful of the vanilla? Also "Magnetic Anomaly" and "A Spiral Odisey" are perfect themes for said biome.
See for me it feels like the first half is being an SLDF MechWarrior kicking down the door to Amaris's compound to finish the Civil War, and then at the halfway point it turns as that same MechWarrior finds out what happened at Unity Palace the day shit kicked off. Just that hollow dispair in the vocals.
