Very good tutorial! I never would have considered buying this deck before seeing it freed from its lavender prison. It looks lovely now. 🥰

I felt the same way Georgina. I was actually turned off this deck until I saw (I think it was Katey Flowers) it trimmed. I don't usually trim a deck before at least attempting to work with it in it's original state, but this one I just knew wasn't going to work for me with those borders.

I love purple, but I definitely agree that those borders did not match the color palette of the deck. I never even thought of trimming decks as an option - thanks for opening up my imagination!!!

You hit ALL the right points as to why we trim decks! Truth, I only have trimmed ONE deck....lol! I love watching others trim their decks. 😃 I use scissors because I tend to skew cards using a slide or guillotine trimmer. LOVE my Kodamaru Pro!! I think most of use that one.

    • @DawnMichelleTarot

The Jolanda really looks great without the borders and the size makes it perfect for taking along and for bigger spreads. Maybe I should trim mine too - but first the Star Tarot, I finally decided that the borders have to go after using it for months. And I love the square Sacred Traveller!!! Thanks for sharing ;-)

I adore the Jolanda trimmed, it changes the entire energy of the deck. I just trimmed my Star Tarot yesterday, should have a video out shortly on that one. I just couldn't take the borders anymore. :)

Trimming my decks never occurred to me until I found your awesome videos. You have opened up a whole new experience for me. Thank you so much! I bought a beautiful Russian deck about a year ago, however the borders of it were in Russian and very distracting so I trimmed them and what a difference. I agree that it really gives a whole new connection to them that is awesome. Now I’m working on others and I love it. Thank you again. Also I love your other videos and can’t wait to make a junk journal.

Ooh love the sacred travelers oracle trimmed to square!!! 😲💗 I prefer the guillotine style as well. I trimmed so many decks a few years ago but don’t do it as much. But when I do, I have to break it up in batches otherwise it gets torturous. Great tutorial! You are a natural teacher.

I am catching up on all of your videos, ha, love them! :) I have been thinking about buying a trimmer. This one is available online where I live but I am wondering: say I would like to trim 7 mm (1/4 inch) edges off of my cards, rather than eyeballing where I need to cut, would that be possible with this one? I am asking because one of my decks has borders with irregular, wonky dropshadows on them (horrible, I know!) which would make it hard to trim.
