this lockdown got me watching frogs
Shongs Same😜
LOL!!
Fr😂
I can’t do this no more lol
Fr bro
yeah the frogs are cool, but can we take a moment to appreciate all the plant diversity in the tanks ? :D alocasias, philos, calatheas/marantaes, begonias, lots of mosses etc, it is really refreshing to see this instead of the classic green pothos. AND OMG you have some macodes petola
haha thank you! Yes I too appreciate plants and plan to collect many more and get better at growing the ones I do have. Thank you for noticing the plant diversity.
@Jamey Craig Hello, I also hold dartfrogs. only with youngsters it does not want to work so well. do you keep your dartfrogs rather damp or dry? outside of the mating season. at oophaga bastimentos it just does not work. 1 man and two women in an 80s terrarium. with bromeliads, fern etc. the system sprays three times a day for 15 seconds. do you have a tip for me? greetings from Germany
Had I not fallen for the aquarium hobby, I would've had a room like this too.
So the question is do you have a room like this full of aquariums?
@@TCSDartFrogs Can't I live in an apartment. I wish I did though, but 3 big tanks and of a couple of 1 gal ones is enough.
@@--Paws-- I understand
Same for me! I had an aquarium room for as a teenager but had to downsize a few years back, now I have a bit more space I'm hoping to get some amphibians!
@@--Paws-- 1 gallon? What can you keep in those?
Your jewel orchids are beautiful!! I couldn’t help looking at all the plants!
Wow, what a whopping collection. Great tour, awesome video.
Frogs have always been my favorite animal by far! My one and only tattoo is of a dart frog (realistic). Loved them since I was very young. I cant wait to finally own one! Great collection you have there. My jaw dropped when you said that frog was 17 years old! Thats amazing!
Wow I never realized they could be so pretty. However I’m still mortified of frogs and will be satisfied watching them through a screen.
Great collection. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you! Thanks for watching!
I've been always wanting to have a collection of pets. I already have different ornamental and monster fishes as well as tarantulas. This ia my first time seeing frogs in captivity. This inspires me to get a pair in the future. Thank you for this video. Everything is so pleasing in the eyes- from the vibrant colors of the frogs and the naturaliatic enclosure. Great job.
Thanks!
Hell yeah dude! now thats what i call a frog room!
Thanks! It's not done yet! More improvements to come.
Awesome room absolute pleasure watching it
Thank you for the kind words! Glad you enjoyed it!
What a wonderful tour. Thanks for sharing. They are ALL amazing. Hood luck with the albino.
Thanks! I really hope it makes it I just want to see what it would like like as a frog.
Great job..awesome room setup✌️😁👍
Very beautiful frog
Wow nice collection makes me want to buy a batch I like your collection!
Brilliant video. Loved it!!!
Thanks!
I have a phobia in frogs but i enjoyyour vids even my skin crawl when i watch them and i want to overcome my fear by watching and hoping to have one in the future
So many frogs. Thanks for the tour.
Yes too many some times haha, thanks for watching!
Wow. Nice tank Sir!
I'd love to see a video on your method of setting up a simple tank where you talk about how you handle drainage and how often you mist.
I didn't find frogs cute until I watched this. They are so beautiful 😍😍😍
Thanks! Glad to have changed your perception about the cuteness for frogs.
Mesmerising frogs, amazing collection and keeping, love the vivariums.
Thanks! I appreciate it.
This is an awesome video! Thanks for the tour.
Thank you! and you're welcome!
that is a really cool set up. I have had frogs in the past. It makes me really want to look back into getting into frogs
Thanks! You should, they make great pets in my opinion as long as you have the knowledge to care for them. The hobby has come a long ways in recent years.
@@TCSDartFrogs I am. Mygirlfriend hates snakes. I am going to start getting things together to put a set up together. I looked at your website last night as well. What would you say is a good starter frog that would be easy to breed
@@Jmb905 Ok right on! Phyllobates vittatus are a great beginner frog that breed easily, Epipedobates anthonyi are also good and very easy to breed. Dendrobates leucomelas are in my opinion the best beginner frog but they are a bit more sporadic breeders. Dendrobates tinctorius are also great starter frogs just best to keep them in sexed pairs as adults.
@@TCSDartFrogs I am going to start getting the things around for a set up and keep and eye on your website for when you have frogs available
@@Jmb905 Sounds good, feel free to contact me for availability as I don't always have everything listed on the website. Also if you're looking for something that I don't work with I can probably point you in the right direction.
I’m legit crying over this vid
So many small frogs!!!
Beautiful ❤
Such a beautiful tank display
Thanks!
Holy sh!t. You must be the frog king 👑
Very cool 👍
Thanks for sharing, interesting hobby you have.
Thanks for watching!
Great video Travis, I feel like there were some frogs I didn’t see though..!?!?
Thanks! I might be doing an unboxing video in the future lol
Good stuff as always Travis! Looking to grow my (much smaller) frog wall area and always look to TCS Darts site first! Most of my shelving is setup with plant grow containers. The plants I got from you a few months ago are growing nicely! Love the S. rayii! Got my eyes on some green Sips and Green imitators. First I have to somehow build a viv in 3 weeks! 😏
Thanks for the kind words! Thanks for the support. You can never have too many plants! Let me know if you need any help finding frogs even if I don't have them I have lots of contacts.
Loving the tour..earned a sub! Great collection but can we talk about some of the plants growing in those terrariums..wow..good stuff..I'm a plant nerd
Thanks! I'll try to talk about plants in future videos to be honest I only know what a handful of them are LOL.
How do you drain your 10 and 20 gallons? Do they have a drain drilled in? A video on your grow out tank setup would be great.
Great set-up and wonderful frogs. Bred some of these years ago and maybe I will start again soon...Filmed O. pumilio in Costa Rica and found D. tinctorius in Saül/French Guyana.
Thanks! They are very enjoyable to keep, I've been fortunate enough to see pumilio and auratus in the wild. It's my dream to go find D. tinctorius in the wild.
Got to your channel by clicking on one "frogroom tour" video amongst all aquascape video suggestions on my youtube homepage. I'm sure it has taken a lot of hardwork to maintain this many collections. And I just wanna say that what you do is awesome and inspiring.
I hope someday I'll be able to make a room full of aquascapes and arrange them as good as you did in your frogroom xD
+1 Subscriber !
Thanks! I too watch a lot of aquarium channels and do keep some freshwater planted tanks as well. Thanks for the kind words! If you set your mind to it you can easily have nice room full of aquascapes!
thats how I found it too!
Great room!
I long for it!
Awesome video man! Keep them coming
Thanks man! Will do! I'm going for 1 million subscribers LOL
Really really nice
Bad ass collection
Thanks!
The costarican green and blacks are beautiful. I would love to have some of those
Who! You’ve got tons of views in this video! You’ve got tons of super cool frogs, as well.
Thanks!
A new nature friendly content to watch
Thanks! Glad you like it
Fantastic
HI! Very nice collection, especially like Dendrobates tinctorius. How big using terrarium for them in your collection?
new to the hobby i noticed almost all the tanks are mixed but everything ive read says to keep them all seperate
It is always best to keep separate tanks for each species and locale. I keep mixed tanks for young frogs but once they are of breeding age I make sure they are separated. I also keep a close eye on them all to make sure they are not bullying each other.
Love the tour man!
Thanks! glad you liked it
Wow so many frogs ! Beautiful !
But why they have no water were they can swim ?
Thanks for the question! Dart frogs are terrestrial frogs and although many of my frogs do have water dishes to soak if they want to. They get most of their moisture from the humidity in the terrarium. They spend their time on the forest floor in Central and South America and spend very little time in water or swimming.
@@TCSDartFrogs
Thank you for your answer !
This variety of colors is awesome.
I discovered your channel today.
Is it true that the poisen only come from the insects that they eat in the wild?
@@FrauGladiator Sure thing! Thanks! Yes there are so many different types. Yes they are only poisonous in the wild due to the insects they eat.
Nice video man!
Thanks for the kind words my friend!
How do you have the time and energy to take care of all these frogs and tadpoles (I'm assuming you have a job, too)???? I work 12 hour days and I just about have enough energy to take of six tanks of frogs and you're taking care of waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more. Anyways, thanks for sharing these awesome frogs with us.
I actually quit my day job about a year ago to pursue this full time, but I used to keep close to the same amount of frogs while working a 40hr work week. Once you've been doing it as long as I have it becomes second nature and it really isn't that hard to maintain.
Cool stuff
Thanks!
Very nice! How do your plants not get root rot with the constant moisture?
Many tropical plants can handle very wet conditions as long as they are getting adequate light in my experience and most my tanks are vented so they do get a chance to dry out a bit before the next misting.
How do you keep that many in a 10 gallon on josh’s frogs they said only 2 dart frogs per 10 gallons
Its also really different depending on where you live how they recommend keeping them. Here in Germany you would probably getting kicked out of community chats if you would keep darts in an aquarium. 10 gallons per frog and double vent is the minimum here for tincs.
I have a 30 gallon tank for 2 adult Tincs.10 gallon for that amount of frogs, especially to help restrict bullying seems not enough to me.
Many of them are young and will be separated with age, 2 per 10 gallon is what I would recommend for adult frogs.
Im in the process of setting up some grow-outs. Are you still using pea gravel these days?
Beautiful collection bro but those terrarium need a big clean
I thought u couldn't put different kinds of frogs together. Also how do u get rid of water stains
You can when they are younger the main reasons you don't want to mix them are for aggression and crossbreeding. Some water stains you can get off with a lemon and a razor blade and some are permanent and your stuck with them.
maybe putting the albino in the shade or dark might help, how has it done so far?
I have tried raising them in the dark and still no success all the albino tads I've had have perished they just seem weaker.
Im just starting off in the poison dart frog world.
I noticed some tanks are very clean and some look like theres a lot of green growth on the sides. Is that preferred? Or do they just need cleaning?
Poison dart frogs feel secure in tanks with algae cover, therefore unless for display breeders usually keep them in such setups. It acts like a curtain between tanks :)
Do you ever have any issues keeping tincs and rantimayas together?
Damn real life pocket frogs😂
Really cool room and setups! New to your channel!!
Thanks! Welcome to the channel!
Can you mix different breeds of frogs?? Does it depend on tank size
I don't recommend mixing.
I followed your build to make a front opening terrarium and the humidity holds up quite well. However the rails for the sliding glass doors are too big..(the doors wabble, and fruit flies escape) do you know what size glass you use, and what size rails? Also where do you get them!!? If you ckme around to answering this, THANK YOU!
Thanks for watching! I use 1/8" glass and the tracks are made specifically for that. I get them from a friend but he doesn't sell to the public. I know you can get the tracks from outwaterplastics.com
Heres an idea, take a shot everytime he says "over here"
(Not criticizing just find it pretty funny)
We need an updated frog room tour!!!
Thank you for the tour! As enjoying the video haha. I noticed that you don't use any soil kinda substrate. Will frogs do okay with pebble? Subsrate? Do you need to wash them regularly? Thank you! Just wondering hehe
Thanks for the question! Some tanks I do have a substrate layer and other tanks I just have grow stones/clay balls with a layer of sphagnum and some leaf litter on top of that. I find that the substrate is really for the plants and many tropical species of plants will happily grow on a bed of sphagnum with a drainage layer below. You don't need to wash them regularly because the frog waste breaks down with misting into nutrients for the plants.
@@TCSDartFrogs that is so true!! Thank you for the idea :)
@@timl3307 you're welcome!
Hi 👋 super new frog mom here I have a few questions I just got 2 blue azureus arrow frog recently and I don’t know how often to feed them ? Also they have a daytime and a heats lamp on them at night I only leave the heat lamp on is that right or should I turn both off ? Also for humidity do I need a device to keep it humid or should I just spritz them with water 2 times a day ?
I don't want to sound harsh but these are really things you should have researched before purchasing the frogs, that being said they don't need the heat lamp at night unless it is getting colder than 60 degrees in your house. They should be fed every day to every other day if they are still young as they go through a crucial growth period where they need lots of food. As far as humidity that depends on a lot of other factors as to how often you should spray them, an automatic system is not necessary and you can spray them several times a day. They should just be kept humid and moist but the substrate should not be saturated.
You where borne to be the Noah Of KEK salute.
Thanks! haha
How do you care for the frogs when you're out of town? How long can you go away for without losing any frogs with this set up?
I've been very fortunate that my Dad will come over and frogsit when I'm out of town but I can't leave for more than 3-4 days without someone watching over them.
Only here for the plants! Fun to watch
Thanks! There should be more plant videos in the future.
Half of them are Azurius XD
amazing frog room. what kind of misting nozzles are you using?
this is so amazing!
Thanks!
@@TCSDartFrogs hi how would I be able to purchase one I love the colors
19:41 those are the cutest things I have ever seen in my life lol
Out of these frogs what are the top 5 that you think look good, yet would be good for people who are good with aquariums and want to get a frog (or more)? By the way your Frogroom looks incredible!
Thanks!
I think my top five for someone who is new to the hobby with the characteristics that you asked for are as follows
Dendrobates leucomelas
Dendrobates tinctorius 'Azureus'
Dendrobates auratus 'Costa Rican'
Phyllobates vittatus
Epipedobates anthonyi
@@TCSDartFrogs Sweet thank you
@@christianreiner2822 you're welcome!
Could you possibly make a video on how your lids are set up on the 10 gallons?
Yes definitely! Thank you for the suggestion!
カエル綺麗だし植物も素敵
Awesome!
Thanks!
My whole Pinterest board is filled with frogs let's make my UA-cam filled with em too
I see you have small delicups inside of every tank. What are they for ?
If you are referring to the white ramekins I use those as water dishes, I like them because they are inexpensive and since they have a ceramic glaze they are easy to sanitize.
@@TCSDartFrogs Yep I was refering to that ramekins. So my question is, what are the water dishes needed for ? I can only think as a place to deposit the tadpoles by their parents.
@@ninfireblade They are there for the adult frogs to soak if they want, and yes sometimes they do deposit tads in them. Many species of dart frog breed more readily when a water source is available also.
I'm in love with your frog room ! lol ;)
Thanks! Me too!
I checked out your website I have to say that I will probably be ordering from you soon
Cool sounds good, feel free to contact me with any questions as well.
@@TCSDartFrogs will do

Thank You! I appreciate the support!
Sooooo beutiful
Thanks!
What do you use for lighting and temperature control?
I have a question, I have a well planted 20 gallon long tank with a pair of 1 year old dendrobates azeurus, do you think I could add 1 or 2 more frogs?- it seems all of your frogs are doing very well even with multiple frogs in a smaller tank
Thanks! Great question! I would not recommend adding any more frogs to the tank. Azureus can be quite territorial as adults and 3-4 adults in a 20 gallon would likely not do well.
Do you touch them with your hands?
best not to, I transfer them in containers if need be.
What state do you ship from? I try to find breeders as close as possible, ty.
I'm based in Nevada
I’m setting up a 10 gal vertical and was planning to put a pair of thumbs in it. Do you have an opinion on which of yours are most bold and would be good first thumbs? I’m not sure if Santa Isabel’s would be better, but I think the Ranitomeya are more attractive.
I probably wouldn't put Santa Isabels in a vertical tank as they tend to use more horizontal space, if you were to put Ranitomeya in there I would keep it to a pair and in my opinion R. imitator either the Green form, Varadero, or Yumbatos are all quite bold for me but there are other locales that I don't keep that could also do well including Chazuta, Baja Huallaga, Yurimaguas, and Tarapoto.
TCS Dart Frogs Thanks so much! I had set the tank up with imitators in mind, so nice to know I’m on the right track!
@@isabellewalsh1824 You're welcome! let me know if you have any other questions.
But are they not very poisonous?
Also do they do okay with many frogs in 10 gallon?
That's typically only while they are growing. Most do well in a pair for a 10g tank.
@@erizle2 I see! Does trio work for a 10 gallon tank as I see some trios in 10 gal? Many hobbyists seem to be really picky in terms of tank sizes. I was shocked after seeing this video because of how many people were intensifying about 1 frog=10gallon and this video is full of trios, subadults, etc... It's something I learn today 😉
Another great question! Yes if done properly you can keep many young frogs in a 10 gallon but I don't recommend this for anyone just starting out keeping frogs. Also as far as the larger frogs in 10 gallon tanks those are just temporary holding tanks until I can build them something more permanent. It also depends on the species some species do much better in groups and some will literally kill each other in groups.
Are there frogs that can be kept at 50% humidity and 20 degrees celsius?
There are frogs that can be kept with those parameters but dart frogs need more humidity and prefer it warmer.
I'm worried about mold. Please tell me the coping method.
why is there so much algae in the sides of the glass. is that healthy?
Algae naturally grows in high humidity environments and is perfectly healthy.
hey, I love your room tour video btw, and I have few questions
1. is it possible to put 1 green sipaliwini, 1 blue sipaliwini, 1 blue and black auratus and also 1 turquoise and black auratus in the same tank? if it's possible, which gender should i choose?
2. is it possible to pet them in a paludarium?
thank you
I don't recommend it, it's not best to mix locales/species.
my college dorm is already full of aquariums and now i want a vivarium idk why but i just feel like i need a frog
They are definitely fun pets if you have the time to dedicate to caring for them.
Just went on your website. Nothing available?
hi mate, im just a beginner in dart frog , i notice u has some 10 gallon tank without vent , its ok for dart frog??
Hi thanks for the question! Yes some species can handle very high humidity and do fine in this type of setup but for most species I recommend some ventilation.
@@TCSDartFrogs i see, thanks for your sharing
@@victan0911 of course! thanks for watching!
Are they dangerous?
no not at all
Great vid. Do you run each wall of its own misting system? Curious how often/much do you mist?
Thanks! I do run each wall off it's own system and each shelf is controlled by ball valves so I can mist each shelf individually. I usually mist once a day sometimes twice a day but I also let the tanks dry out if I see that they are too wet and will go several days without misting.
@@TCSDartFrogs How long do you typically mist for, on a 10g? I like the look of your tanks...just trying to get a feel of how much water you are running through them daily! Thanks!
@@forthcs It really varies depending how wet the tanks are, I generally do about 10-30 seconds, but it's really gonna vary on a lot of factors like your ambient humidity where you live, the amount of ventilation on the tank, temperature, dimensions of the tank, how many plants are in the tank, depth of drainage layer, depth of substrate, whether you have an actual drain or not. So what works for me will most likely not work for most others.
@@TCSDartFrogs Absolutely agree, just trying to get a gauge. Keep the the vids, and I appreciate the responses!
@@forthcs for sure
