I like how you show the real world life of an HVACR tech, there’s always another call to go to, a schedule to keep and the customers budget. I’ve learned so much from your channel, can’t thank you enough for taking the time to share your knowledge.
That's so cool up hear Randy👍👍 it really makes me feel good I might have made difference!
Thank you for helping us guys that are just starting out. From your videos to your trutech tools discount. Saved me $77 on my new Fieldpiece MR45!
Awesome man! Thanks for using it! I'm glad the videos are helping👍👍🤜🤛
Is this the cooler that's not working right? "I couldn't tell you"
It's my number one frustration in this trade, nobody knows anything about anything or where anything is at or why people called.
End up working on the wrong condenser the other day then find out the condenser I needed was on a different buildings roof
Amen brother, I have done that several times. I feel ya
I usually make sure the stem is all the way up( they’re usually not) then I leak lock the cap on and 95% of the time that takes care of that leak
🤜🤛👍👍
Need to get back in to the groove absorbing all this RAW knowledge!
Chocolate milk & cookies for everyone 🤣 ❤️ it
Draft beer is way better when colder lol great video brother
👍🇺🇸💪❄️ great vid. Thanks Rick🙏
I could hear the starved TXV as soon as you opened the door. I just had to fix one of those TXV bulb wells on a low temp system.
They are interesting, I had no idea they were in the line the first time I loosened it 😁. I stopped in time before the big release...
Glad you explained why a freezer coil was used in this application. I was thinking about that throughout the video. Nice fix.
🍺🍺👍👍
Great Video. Thank you for sharing
Great to see you great troubleshooting I’m starting to have troubles out of our freezer heatcraft units wearing me out on quality equipment
All the new stuff is failing because they're making them more efficient..( less heavy duty). Higher efficient compressors don't have any extra horse power behind them and burn up easily plus super-efficient evaporator and condenser coils leak easier because they have better heat transfer thanks to it being thinner.
Loved the budlight jab! Haha
I love Dave, I'm just giving him some shit back for giving me shit about the leak detector.
@@HVACRSurvival yeah I figured lol you’re just so smooth with it!
Excellent fix hahaha 😆 nor-cal dave is hilarious it's funny how you mention his favorite 🍺 🍻
Dave was the first guy I watched on UA-cam👍👍. his videos contributed to helping better understand the kitchen refrigeration equipment.
In Sweden we do maintenance as well (yearly leak search or more often if breaking a gwp limit (more gas in the unit)) as it's required to the laws for f-gasses, at the same time we clean and check condition of equipment and repair if needed (with ok from customer) to get rid of 95% emergency calls on overtime.
Preventative maintenance keeps you busy during slow times and at home when you're on call👍👍
@@HVACRSurvival Absolutely. But sometimes we have to go on er calls as well during "on call" time, things tend to break between two maintenance services w/o notice.
Great job, Rick!
Interesting, almost a freezer
Enjoy your video’s! Great fix !!!
Nice work as usual Rick. Thank you.
I like the 'replace the valve option' myself. You can add oil to the compressor, but the damage is already done. Time to advise the customer of possible compressor change out. IMHO.. Ya, nice tools!
I figured the o rings were shot.
Please come to Arizona. You're hired
🍺👍👍
Good video, always informative! Bud light time 😁
Good job Rick.
Great job 👏
Loctite 567 works really good on those threads
I think that's what I have, white squeeze tube? I know 7xx wasn't correct when I played this back
Great Video as always!
Much appreciated.
Mmm live action
I’ve also grabbed a jug of refrigerant and blew some on the defrost termination switch just to see if it would close or if it failed completely.
Use Co2
Nice catch on the discharge valve ... Nor-Cal Super Dave , enough said Thx for posting as always ... Are we streaming tonight ?
Nothing wrong with that repair, simple leak, simple repair
🤜🤛👍👍
👍👍👍
Would it be worthwhile to keep a can of carb cleaner or brake cleaner around and use it to blast all that oil off the inside of the unit? Might make it easier to detect fresh oil the next time.
Yeah I keep brake cleaner in my van, it definitely can help clean it up after a repair.
❤
Nice job 👍
Do you ever go out and do scheduled maintenance / inspection on a whole system?
Yep. Just not for this place, they only call when it's broken.
I think you meant a "great career". I suspect when you were posting this video, you had spent the day working on Carrier a/c units. :)
😁👍👍
Sweet deal.
Hey John🖐️. I hope you're doing well!
What type of veto bag do you have with you in this video?
MB3
Can you tell me what videos you have that have a bohn in it? I have a customer with one and want to rewatch that them
I believe I've only mentioned a few things about it and another video. I believe it was even at this place possibly a year ago. From the way it's been explained to me it's just an oversized TXV valve that's able to run normal superheat with lower than traditional head pressure.
Very helpful. Thanks for the response 🤜🤛
Hey Rick, just curious why you didn’t attempt to adjust the valve itself 17:15 with your torx wrench?
I didn't have any problems with the txv, it wasn't really flooding back, it just looked like it.
@@HVACRSurvival I meant the valve you capped at the discharge line. You only sealed the cap but didn’t adjust the valve itself. We always crank those up when we find the leak there.
@@HardKnocks101 that style valve has the stem sealed by an o-ring, once it's old and elasticity gone it, it no longer seals and out comes the gas/oil.
if it's the type with stem retained by a snap ring, it is possible to pull the valves apart and install a new o-ring, but nobody does that!
@@throttlebottle5906 yup, clear as mud. I know the valve and how it functions. I am also very familiar that it leaks. I still am very curious why Rick didn’t run the valve down and back up to try and stop the leak. Guess we’ll never know….
@@HardKnocks101 better to "let sleeping dogs lie", because the o-ring sure won't magically become round again and the chances of it leaking worse are very great, it could even go full hisser in which you cannot get the cap back on or burn yourself doing so. the school of self learned hard knocks will teach you that one day( lol)
U not new testos?
I don't understand?
Accumulator, i.e. slop tank. ;)
538 thumbs up
Well, I've never seen Discharge abbreviated as 'Dish'... But we all know you guys in those parts use weird words like 'warsh'. Lol.
👍👍👍🇺🇸👀
First ❤
Winning ✌️😁
Damn keep taking shots at nor cal I would say nor cal has got the best of you, we see you delete your comments. Funny how you and the lady man wear the same make up on that can
🤣🤣🤣 I told him about the video before I released it. We're just playing. But thanks for noticing my makeup, I try to look good🤣
@@HVACRSurvival this guy is strange. I can tell you and Dave are good friends
@@dantemariscal8679 are you talking about hard nipples? He's trying to start shit but he's not aware me n Dave get along fine. I laughed at Dave's video about the leak detector. I could give two shits about what detector someone uses. P
