Your videos are so helpful for me! Can you make a video going over advice or things you wish u knew before high school extracurriculars and grades. And what to expect?
Hey man, I really like your videos, keep up the good work! I have a problem, I don't know what i'm interested in and I don't know how to choose something specific. Maybe CS? Biology? Physics? I'm not sure. I have no idea which activities i should be doing and what projects i could start if I don't even know what field interests me. Could you make a video talking about different fields and what related activities you can do to show impact? And maybe related certifications or projects you can pursue which align with your field of interest? And what related classes you should take in highschool? Thank you so much.
Your channel has been very helpful for getting my priorities straight. Thanks to these videos I now have a better idea of the application itself as a Junior in High School. Could you maybe make a video in the future about what to do if we had circumstances like family problems, bad wifi, health problems, etc. that have affected grades in the past. Guidance on these topics would greatly be appreciated!
I'm so glad that these have been of help to you!! That absolutely makes my day. I think those extenuating circumstances should definitely be addressed within the application and will 100% make a video on it. Thanks for the suggestion!
My interests are coding/web development and music, and I want to get into a good college for computer science. I have many plans for making extracurriculars and quantifying impact for both, such as starting a web dev club in school, starting a web dev business, host coding bootcamps for kids in my community, start a nonprofit to provide opportunities for high schoolers to perform music more outside of school for causes in the community, etc. However, my friends are telling me that having only 2 interests are bad, and I need more to better my chances of getting into a top college. What should I do?
having "only" 2 interests isn't bad. all of our clients who have gotten into MIT and CalTech were incredibly good at just one thing. It depends on the type of school you'd like to get into, but you're not evaluated by the amount of interests you have. You're evaluated by the actual impact you have and the story behind it (which is shown through your essays). Good luck!
@ make sure you impact your immediate community in some way. no one expects your web dev biz to hit $1 in revenue. But what you can realistically do is overhaul your school's slow and very disfunctional website. Compound that effort by doing that for your school's library, local library, etc. you get the point. But beyond that, think of the reason why you like doing this in the first place. If your "why" isn't there, it just seems like you're doing it for the sake of college apps. which is where your essays come in. think of a narrative for yourself that your extracurriculars can align with and create a cohesive story. good luck!
Do you think you could Make a Full Crash Course on how to set yourself up for getting into your dream college. Starting from (Maybe) 6th or 8th Grade to actually submitting your application. Edit: How much do you think that taking High Level Classes in Middle School matters? I never did a high school level class, nor did I get into any Accelerated program or Gifted and talented. But I do Really well in school and get into level 5 on state testing for math (Which is the highest Level). Do you have any Advice for me? I am still in 8th Grade btw.
great video idea! it is quite hard to do that because each situation is different, and the opportunities / resources one might have heavily depends on their connections and physical location. I will definitely keep that in mind for future videos though. Middle school doesn't matter directly. The indirect effect it can have though is that it can accelerate your learning and help you take harder level classes in high school faster. If you're in 8th grade, I'd see what kind of courses you'd be taking in high school and study them lightly over the summer. Plan out what classes you would take EVERY SINGLE YEAR. make sure to maximize the AP / IB classes that your school offers. If they offer 7, take all 7. If they offer 30, take as many of them as you can. If your school doesn't offer much, try to look outside of your school for additional education. Dual enrollment programs, online programs, etc. Plan, execute, re-evaluate, then plan again. Repeating that cycle will help you succeed. I'm rooting for you!
Apply as an English, communications, or whatever major. Pretend like that’s what you want to do. Then, AFTER you get into a school and go there, switch your major to something in stem.
man i wish i had this four years ago can you make one for current seniors? i didn't start taking this stuff seriously until a few months ago, but now it's too late to do a lot of this stuff. is there still anything I can do last minute to increase my chances of admission to top colleges?
How can you combine activities, could you give me a couple more examples? Thanks! Your channel has been really helpful! I will look into booking a discovery call soon! (it sounds great!)
Great question! A very simple example would be sports. Especially if you don't have a long list of accolades. So if you played club soccer and high school soccer, you'd put it under one extracurricular activity. And then within the description of the EC itself you would mention involvement in both club and high school soccer. However, if you have a long list of accolades for club soccer, it'd be appropriate to give it a full EC slot for you to describe all your accomplishments there. Hope this helps and I'm looking forward to speaking with you!
I have way too many interests, and i have a lot of extracurriculars that are fully unrelated. How should i go about creating a narrative? (in eighth grade btw)
your activities in 8th grade won't matter as much. cut the fat and add muscle is what I always say. From the perspective of an admissions officer, which activity would they not really care about? If you find any, just take it out if you're struggling with "too many interests". Being well-rounded is important for schools, but if you're scattered all over the place that'd be difficult to try to force and create a narrative. Be intentional with your ECs!
That’s just how the game goes. Even IF you were a “perfect” student there’s other factors that you simply can’t control. Like where you live, what opportunities you’ve had, and what their guidelines were when selecting applicants. Even the best of our clients with international level awards and accolades don’t get accepted into every college they apply to and we certainly don’t expect that. Keep pushing forward! You got it.
I dont have a nice gpa but my ecs are really related to my course i wanna get into nyu I hope my gpa doesnt affect my application right sir?!help me out

@@sh2nu1ee Ok, Thank you so much for your advice.
I love to write. But I want to go into science. My extracurriculars are centered around writing and speaking- what do I do?

“You have to differentiate yourself”
Instructions unclear. Now taking differential equations
I am international student. I needed help with the application process for Masters in Accounting…how can I get in touch with your team?
Sorry our admissions counselors only specialize in undergraduate admissions!!
Masters programs are much easier to get into.
Nice video

Everything about me is unique and I still got rejected from several colleges.
