"you got a gift, man. Go and be something. If i was in your shoes, i would be jumping" something about the way he says those words makes them so real, I can't get over it.
Very good song. Listening to it on the recommendation of my son who incidentally woke me up at 0500 this morning coming in from a party. We will be having words.
In regards to the verse about being a junkie, my hair stood up in my arms and neck. I can relate in some ways. This song has been on repeat since I discovered it yesterday.
I suffer from mental health, started 15 years ago,due to bereavement, unfortunately I saw an opportunity to make a few£££ and thought I'm at rock bottom so what's to loose, this song came on when I just put the last gram out while I'm in a 2 day,14g hallf Oz deep state of depression.i feel this song was written for any one to listen to,but aslo was aimed directly my way, starting from now I'm going to listen to this everyday, did I waste all them years?not if I put things right and, things break, fall apart, but still still function good as before,or maybe ever better with the knowledge of what it takes to prevent it,enough said, time to play this again as I sweep that shit in the bin and start making use of the inspirational and hopefully life changing song thankyu😢😢
I could listen to this song day in and day out. I know every word by heart. Such a masterpiece. So heartbreaking but also happy in a way that I can’t describe. I literally tear up every time that I listen to it.
I’ll always remember the time that we met It was somebody’s party You were wearing that black dress Clinging to shadows Chameleon-esque And we were together, when we were fifteen But nothing is real then, you know what I mean I slept with that dancer, I didn’t mean it It was all in a dream babe, all in a dream All in a dream (Sorry) And I hadn’t seen you in a couple of years You’d been at the doctors You called me in tears “Jacob baby i’m broken! I can’t be fixed! They think it’s my kidneys, they don’t know what it is And how could this happen man, I’m just a kid I’ve got something to live for, and so much to give Now I live in a basement, a blade in my wrist I think this is over, I think this is it What if this is it man?” And all of your friends, they say that they need you When you need them they just get up and leave you One of them said “I don’t care if this kills you” What if it did Katie? What if it killed her? What would you do then? Hope you’d be sorry Hope you’d go to her grave, apologise for me All the time that she gave you Every time you were worried That’s because she was your friend then Hope that you’re sorry Truly And when I was using, she still said she loved me Be more of a human, less of a junkie You gotta give man, go and be something If I was in your shoes, I would be jumping And that’s when I felt it, encounter my heart It was the light of a candle, in the depths of the dark And there was a fire, it danced in your eyes A beautiful world and a beautiful mind A beautiful mind A beautiful mind A beautiful mind
found this song on the way down to Cornwall back in the sum, bagged one of the signed 7" n listen to it everyday since LOVE THIS SONG!!!!! fills me with such an indescribable feeling
the lyrics going from "and that's when I felt it, it conquered my heart" are what get me the most. Jacob really nails the feeling of coming out of a period of suffering and seeing the beauty of life anew because of it.
Remember the first time I heard this. I was drunk with a couple of mates in his room after a party and he said "hey, put this song on" as soon as I heard it I thought of my friends that i used to know and how all those years went by so fast. I saved it to my playlist immediately and every time I listen to this it, it takes me back to all those memories and feelings. this really is a great bit of song writing
"be more of a human less of a junkie" hit me really hard when I first heard this song. I was a year clean off of heroin and still had fractured relationships. I listen to a lot of music, past or present there haven't been many songs that struck that chord in me. Cheers
Sorry I'm a bit late to the party (Justin Hawkins bought me here) Great sound with loads of influences but with no outright copying Always a sign of a good band
Christmas Day,4 am with my headphones blasting this piece of art

So true
this songs feels like crying alone in a room, but being somewhat happy about that
Yesss, great way of spelling it out
i love that
sadness happy
"you got a gift, man. Go and be something. If i was in your shoes, i would be jumping" something about the way he says those words makes them so real, I can't get over it.
It's the way he growls it in his punk vocal tone too
First thing I thought of when I heard this was the exchange between Will and Chuckie at the end of Good Will Hunting.
This is the best piece of new music I have heard for years and years.
Agreed man. Really really good this. First I’d heard of them.
¿What other pieces would you recommend? :)

You got a gift man go on be something if I was in your shoes I would be jumping. Take hold and grasp that concept whatever it is no matter what
Just discovering this band now. I love their sound. The whole Cub album is so varied. I especially love this song. The lyrics brought me to tears.
Best song I’ve stumbled on in years, awesome, love the no chorus and the Beatleseque outro
Outro is slowed version of a song on Jacobs solo debut

best song ever written

Absolutely stunning how well the lyrics go together with the way the song develops. That must be truthfulness. ❤
This played on the radio every single Sunday morning when I was a kid while my mum did the ironing. Love it just for the nostalgia lol
Here before they blow up, this is awesome
