Kepler Track - Day 2 | The best day of the trail! Luxmore to Iris Burn

One of the best days we have ever had on a NZ Great Walk. The sun was shining, lighting up the glimmering snow caps and South Fiord arm of Lake Te Anau. We climbed up initially to the highest point of the 4 day journey to Luxmore Summit (1,472m).
Not only were the view phenomenal but we also saw a mischievous Kea (alpine parrot 🦜) who had ripped a hole in one of our fellow hikers backpacks to get to his trail mix.
The following section of the hike along the ridge line was the absolute highlight, with sweeping vistas on both sides of Lake Te Anau, the southern alps and Lake Manapouri. We descended steeply down through enchanted mossy temperate rainforest to the Iris Burn Hut.
