As I mentioned in the video - I am a total amateur when it comes to paint-making. Any handmade paint experts out there - I would really appreciate any tips you might have to share!
I also left a great article in the description box that talks in-depth about the type of binder and pigments shown in this video. I found it while this video was uploading so unfortunately, could not talk about it in the video but please take a look if you're more interested in the pigments!
As always, please leave any suggestions or video requests below. I would love to know what you would like to see more of!
like you yourself said in the video you need a "humectant" in your paint, glicerine, honey, corn syrup work for this pourpose, if you only have the binder, the paint is gonna be really hard to rewet, secondly, you are mulling your paint a bit too fast you can know this because there where a lot of bubbles, now, bubbles are /bad/ but they will remain in there while the paint dries, so you will find them again when rewetting your paint. so just fo a slower when mulling and you also dont need to apply any force, just let the muller glide on the glass slab :)

@@carolinaarias1669 Wow, so many great tips thank you so much! The insight about the air bubbles is really great to know - I was wondering why that was happening. thank you!
Can you do a video showcasing your watercolor palette collection in the future? Love your video as always 💕
I personally am a beginner too, but i would recommend testing your batches, as you can QUICKLY get a too big batch. So make sure to have enough pans! Furthermore, if you ever use earth pigments you'll need clove oil, because that's what make sure your pigment will not mold! I personally use glycerine & honey in my paint. (:
Wow...Such a sophisticated art supplies!! As I'm a huge fan of art supplies, I want to get them all!
Ya same🤩✨✨
Gotta catch 'em all
Me too. But it isn’t possible to get all of them
i actually went to the store after your video on them! I wander around the covent garden area often so im surprised I never ran into it. I chatted to the floor assistants whilst i was there and they told me alot of people have come in and bought from the store due to your video on them.
Oh, that is so sweet to hear! I’m so glad you were able to go in person :-)
I must admit I was one of them, I also wondered why I never found out about the store before.
@@rosietales It's not been there that long - a couple of years? There was an amazing bead shop on that site for many years. I'm a little sad that's no longer there.
@@nereti1303 yes, going to that bead shop was the highlight of the London trip when I went as a kid and teen 🤩
ChoosingKeeping is such a prestigious brand! Even their children art line is great quality (and serves as a more affordable option for me). I'm glad they recognize how talented you are! This video was great
日本の画材が外国でも愛されているなんて、驚きました。
美しい動画で、多くの外国人に日本画を広めてくれたこと、感謝します💖
I really appreciate companies who use eco-friendly packaging instead of the bubble wraps. Big points.
A month ago I was inspired by artists who make their own watercolors and wanted to make my own too but I didn’t want to buy pigments & binder. So I just crumbled a tiny bit of my graphite pencil into dust and mixed it with honey on two pieces of scotch tape. I also used a random metal stick as a mower. As a result I got almost a half pan of really good water-soluble graphite:)
Awhh that's amazing!
i think we are finding that we need to support small businesses whether they are old or new businesses.. the paints look gorgeous. thank you 🌸
Oh my, they are lavishing their gifts on you! And each one is wrapped so lovingly as well. How wonderful to be treated to these amazing and special art supplies. I'm very happy for you, and thank you for sharing.
私は日本画を大学で学び、今は時間がたっぷり取れる時に制作をしています。素晴らしいビデオで海外の方に絵の具を紹介してくれてありがとう😊
I studied Japanese painting at university and now I'm working when I have a lot of time. Thank you for introducing Japanese painting items to peaple all over the world with a wonderful video.
I love how lovingly that company prepares and packages your order! It's just so charming I hope they never change that.
The pigments are really lovely. Making paints by hand is a good way of learning how the different pigments react when testing out different recipes. I look at is an advance watercolor study.
Just remember to use protection when making paints, I would also advise using a maks when working with pigments. I don't know how many pigments still are toxic, but breathing in fine dust could potentially lead to some health issues.
Yes! A big mistake I made in this video was not wearing gloves, but I was wearing a mask behind the camera - thanks for your tip!
Paints like cadmium are VERY toxic! But i do ask, what mask do you use?
I am DROOLING over the aesthetics here. When you unwrapped the journals I literally went “YES” lol
I love everything from the wrapping paper to the supplies!
Simply stunning. Choosing Keeping make an art of shopping - everything is so carefully thought out and exquisitely presented: it's a truly a treat even to watch you unbox these supplies, let alone have them myself!
Can we take a moment to admit that.... how aesthetics this video is..
0:01 “YELLOW PERIL SUPPORTS BLACK POWER “ love you girl 🖤✊🏾
does anyone know where to find that print? :-)
Only in America
Heck yeah
It's really heart warming to see people supporting small businesses..... My dream is always to start a small business and this really makes me so happy to see tht somebody is really appreciating it
I gotta say, I absolutely loved this video! Made me feel so relaxed. I’m so glad it showed up on my recommenced as I already watch these flatlay aesthetic videos. The whole unboxing of supplies and paint making process was so lovely and calming to watch!
They say that buying art supplies and making art are two separate hobbies. It is so true, at least in my case. Pigments you just bought and papers they were wrapped in are gorgeous! 💗💗💗

...i feel like she can never offend anyone with that voice! Even if she cursed with that tone I'd probably be mesmerized
If she did tho, what would happen
@@daisyjoy242 people would probably in a dilemma whether to be mad or not mad😂😭

That emerald colour is just gorgeous. Arghhh! Ooof
Ive been following this channel for so long and i love how ive heard the confidence grow as its projected in ur voice, maybe im wrong but ahhh ur voice used to be so soft and shy. I love the growth 💕🥺
I never realized the process of making home made paint. Love the colors, especially that yellow!
ChoosingKeeping's shop in Covent Garden is one of my favourite places just to wander around. I love their hand lettering supplies & their inks are to die for ^^
I love choosing keeping!! I went recently and it's such a lovely vibe - totally recommend everyone to go! I only wish I had enough money to drop because everything in there is so lovely and such high quality!!!
U really have been spoiling us! Your videos are always so pretty!!
I've seen your later videos that you've have a goid grasp of grinding and mulling.Pear, you're very talented..
Those are beautiful products and beautiful packaging very thoughtfully done
I am so lucky to find your channel. I have learnt so many things about organic colors, I truly feel blessed.
This whole channel is just so aesthetically pleasing I love it
No joke I would rip the paper wrapping up then cry about it later because it’s so pretty!!
Popping into say that making your own paints is great because you can design how they behave and how they age (instead of finding out through trial and error/extended periods with premade paints).
Those notebooks are to die for!
This is so satisfying and the colors are gorgeous!
This looks so great, and the packaging are so beautiful !
Loved the art supplies and I have become a fan to it
I love this shop especially the watercolour paper and brushes they have ❤
Love it , Everything Handmade. Beacuse Its Classic ❤️ I Love Traditional thank You ❤️
Lovely video! And I love that sign! I had forgotten about those. Power to all the people!
🤍 The way you present your treasures is an artform in itself. 🤍
I'm jealous 😗😗 of those paints but more of how peaceful your paint making process sounds
Omg I'm loving this videos of choosingkeeping supplies!!! I'm thinking to save some money and buy from them, your reviews really paired with their style ✨
Hope you're safe!!
Wow! Those are beautiful colors! Also your artwork & you are inspiring. Thank you for being a beautiful human being.
if i ever got to have this, i wouldn’t even bother using it. Just looking at it makes me so happy
Omg these all look great!
Thank you so much for sharing these wonderful art supplies secrets! 😍😍
This video came out at the right time! I've also been watching a lot of paint making videos the past few days, so last night while I was browsing the Choosing Keeping website I was somewhat delighted to see that they also sell pigments. Their selection of fountain pens is also beautiful, I'd love to buy from them one day when I have the money 😅
beautiful
I love these specialties
my morning got so much brighter - thank you
This was a beautiful video to watch. I'm inspired to paint and put up more beautiful videos on my own channel. Thanks for the information and inspiration!
your videos make me really want to visit choosing keeping in person myself!!!
Wow these colours and your art is a perfect and awesome team 😍😍
Well...I don't know if all art students do that, but when I was preparing for fine arts university we used to buy pigments and vinaville glue, instead of acrylics or watercolors, because it was way cheaper...I am studying painting for 3 years now and I still have most of the pigments I bought when I was preparing for uni...
Really lovely video - making paint looks a lot of fun but also a lot of work.
Dude, you even have your own little card on their website! I'm so freaking stoked!
Yay! More lovely Choosing Keeping unboxing! 😁🤩
The best part of the video for me is how you open your packages. I don't like it when the wrapping paper is so neat and pretty and people just rip it apart.
i love your tapestry at the beginning!!
I just bought the pallet and brushes because of this video~i got swayed
Good job this is my favorite Channel 👍
I’m saving up for these and this video really shows how much I definitely should as the are so high quality thank you for this video x

yes!!! this is just what I needed to wake up to
Awh i love Choosing Keeping, I have their logo sticker on my planner, it's beautiful there!
Nice to see this.
I want to start a small business that sells art supplies in the old Italian way. Make the same pigments that Leonardo da Vinci used. And I want to pack everything with the same love as this store.
Your watercolors look beautiful.😍
I have wanted to try to make my own watercolors for a while now but don't know how.
Beautiful 😻
What a wonderful art supply haul!
From the traditional nihonga artist videos I've watched, they mix the ground mineral pigments with nikawa and water in a small palette dish by hand. No muller needed! I wonder if our own body temp/oils add something to the finished paint!
I really enjoy your videos. They are so informative. Thank you 😊👍🏼
That store looks so great. I see how the wrapping makes every item special.
Thanks for the video.!
Beautiful ❤️
Oooh my! Please forgive me, but I am a bit jealous. This is just the type of beautiful fancy schmancy stuff I adore. It's Christmas in August at your place. I am a sucker for a beautifully wrapped package. Not to mention the paper they were wrapped in, the pigments, the glass muller
These are my dream art supplies!
I am VERY excited to see a future video on paint making
Thank you so much for this video!
I was trying to understand exactly that product 😻 I already follow Choosing Keeping on IG and I love those tones!
1:16 the best visual asmr ever
For me its more of a way to produce less waste and have an option to choose
I hope someday i can buy art supplies from choosing keeping. I literally have all the art supply i wanna buy on my cart on their websites lol.
Your videos are great! Love the way you take your time to explain everything and show the beautiful wrappings in a relaxed way. Please keep these coming. During this time of isolation it keeps me connected and entertained. May I suggest a give-away to one of your subscribers? I look at their website quite often but they are pricey and delivery to Switzerland, where I am would be out of the question. Thanks again!
It's all so cottagecore!
I find it so soothing to watch you mix pigments :) How did you store your paints in the end?
You're my favorite channel! Always bringing such amazing videos and products
You did great on the name, you basically got it!!! Also I’ve been following you since you came out and everything you do is so amazing and mesmerizing
That poster at the beginning~ YES
So beautiful I wish I could afford to buy these supplies I want to try mixing paints
Tq so beautiful.
I am really glad to have meet your channel
omg you're featured on their website!!
