I think we need to visit what a "secret hack" actually is because I can tell you it's not stitching a new steering wheel cover or shampooing a seat... Plunger to pull out a dent though, I'll give u that.
So buffing/polishing a car's paint, and vacuuming/extracting the seats so it looks better is a "hack"?

the outside has no contact with the brake shoes and is painted from the factory
Painting a brake disc is a dumb idea. Sure the brakes are not gonna work as expected.
it was a drum brake, so painting the outside will have no affect on how it works
And helps prevent future rust
