Great JOB ,,,You must have a good memory to rember all the steps required to re assemble the complete camera.. But filming the whole process must helps ..
Hi,I am Sachin Gharat from Mumbai.I would like your video on replacing the aperture assembly in D800 which is a very common problem now a day.I love watching all your videos on vintage photographic equipments repair.Just keep it up.Regards and lots of love from all repairers family from India.
Woohoo… when you compare this to an old Nikon FE or FM you understand how complet calzpera are now…. And also suspect why they are less reliable. What a mess there is inside and Mike you are really a genius to share this to us. Thx for that. But honestly this is too hard for me ! Fortunately my 810 is still working :)
Hi Mike, excellent job. They are complex teams but I must congratulate you on your amazing skill. I have the same model of camera, but it presents a different problem, when you take a couple of shots with it, suddenly the viewfinder darkens and makes vision difficult, and for some reason the photographs also come out dark, I have been investigating in depth and Apparently it could be the curtains since the light stops entering correctly despite being well exposed. I refer to your experience and will greatly appreciate your help. Greetings, success.
I'm so glad I came across your excellent video! I'm having the same sort of issue with my Nikon D200. None of the main rear panel buttons are functional. However both the play and delete buttons do work on mine, so I am able to view recent photos and delete them, but that is all. The command wheel is only partially funtional, on the right side only, which is strange. I have removed the rear panel, cleaned all of the ribbon cable connections and re-seated them incase they were loose. The motherboard looks to be ok, no obvious damages like water, shorts, arcing, etc. I think I will remove the top cover now and investigate the "play and trash" button connections like you did. Maybe I'll get lucky!
I should also add that the owner before me removed the flash capacitor completely and had it rewired via a custom plug that fed through a drilled hole next to the USB input. My only guess why someone would do this was they were maybe using this body some kind of specific studio process and needed it hard-wired to a strobe setup? Also, under the bottom body cover, the orange and blue auto focus wires have been purposefully cut. Maybe this body was used for studio macro work, or some type of astro photography and auto focus was a problem for them? Very strange modifications! The shutter only has 31,000 actuations, which is pretty low for the age of this model. If you have any thoughts on these modifications I would love to hear them. If I could just get the menu working again, then I would have a fully functional camera. Cheers!
Hey man my d800 doesn’t go to standby the info display on the top and it’s light doesn’t turn off automatically thus resulting in battery loss what do you think the problem would be?
Happy New Year, does it scare you too open such an expensive camera? I have a second hand lens with something in the lens and every time I think could just open and clean, well it freaks me out. Are your services available?
Well I am not really scared, because I don't look at the price of the lens or camera. If I get a camera or a lens for free that is not working, I have nothing to loose when I disassemble it becuse it's already defect, but on the other hand I have a lot to win if I can repair the thing, and in that way safe a lot of money. And the second thing, I will learn some new things everytime it happens :-)
Hi ! very good job…I have to change my sd and cf car slot on my nikon D800, I remember you ha a video where we saw how to isassembly the camera, but I can't find it anymore…could you please help me ? maybe you took it off ? thank you very much, kind regards

modern cameras are mostly computers. i would love to see some vintage cameras, especially old folders, and thier lens. perhaps more mu speed. but watching these vids, is better than watching TV.
@@mikeno62 i look forward to that. i have like 8 folders, and many have assorted problems, your vids are great, in that you explore the repair, and it is a good learning experence...thanks
Hello. I fixed my D800 whose mirror wouldn't close. It was a piece of metal attached to the mirror. This solved the problem. But on one of my D800 boxes I have a big problem. It works well at all speeds except ! at 1/8000 at 1/8000 it gives a message: ERR Which way should I look? The contacts are clean, I tried all my lenses and even without lenses. It is only at this shutter speed that I have this problem. I can completely dismantle it without any problem but I can't see where to look. All cables are properly connected. I don't understand. Thank you mike
What a great journey I have just shared with you. Thanks for bringing me along every step of the way. Enjoyed every minute.
thank you Mike! your disassembly helped me replace the broken rear LCD on my D810! you should add a donate button mate!
Wow you are very skilled.👍

Just go for it. Cameras are easier than cameras as it’s just electronics. Lenses are a black art.

Hello.
I fixed my D800 whose mirror wouldn't close.
It was a piece of metal attached to the mirror.
This solved the problem.
But on one of my D800 boxes I have a big problem.
It works well at all speeds except ! at 1/8000
at 1/8000 it gives a message: ERR
Which way should I look?
The contacts are clean, I tried all my lenses and even without lenses. It is only at this shutter speed that I have this problem.
I can completely dismantle it without any problem but I can't see where to look.
All cables are properly connected. I don't understand.
Thank you mike
My first observation was that the camera was turned off. This might go along way to explaining why the buttons won't work, but that's just me.
The bottom cover would be enough for me .
