hi guys!
i think this season is going to have a huge impact for Helen as a character. she tells in season 1 that she has "baggage" that always carries with her and she is really tired of that.
Helen Sharpe was always represented as a vulnerable person since the first episodes. She wasnt exactly practising medicine in the first season for a number of reasons but first of all because of Mohammed. In season 2, we were able to see her as max's support and also the impact her deposition as co-medical director had on her. Season 3 shown us the family issues of helen, the whole "mina situation" was important to know the biggest trauma of her: the abandonment of her father and how that led her to escape from home. Now season 4 is about to show us the heal process, of course its not going to be easy, in real life its never easy.

we can interpret "medicine" not only as an addiction, but also as a feeling, memory, relationship in which we are immersed, to a point that it hurts us deeply, but we always have the decision to "start over" and I think it connects very well with the healing process of helen.

This is what I've been saying! Sharpe is busy being there for everyone but doesn't take time to deal with her own stuff and it's been piling the last 3 seasons and I want to see more of her this season, deal with all the things she has been burying and grow even more, I wouldn't mind flashbacks too.
I love Helen so much the best character on NA

Beautiful!!! I actually cried watching this. 🥺 All the things that Helen went through... She carried the weight of so many on her shoulders. She kept putting others needs ahead of her own. Freema did such a wonderful job portraying Helen Sharpe.

This was a very good compilation. At first I wasn't entirely sure what Helen meant when she said, "you're going to take me down with you". Max is an "all or nothing" kind of person. He will give everything he has to help others. He will go the extra mile, even if it means following a path that has severe consequences. His inability to choose can be draining, even to the detriment of his own health. Helen could see this in him, and possibly the only person who could make him face the reality of his obsessive behaviour to "get it all done" at any cost. Georgia too; she realized his obsessiveness, and it was taking its toll out on her as well. In some ways, it destroyed Georgia; she lost who she was in Max's all-consuming shadow. Helen, in many ways, was on the same playing level as Max; they're both doctors. They both cared deeply for humanity. They both were willimg to go the extra mile, but Helen knew when to step back. She knew when choices had to be made for the greater good. She knew when to say, "yes" and when to say "no". She could see the danger in not choosing. Max's inability to see it, would ultimately destroy him, or destroy those around him. His inability to save his sister, haunted him his entire life. He was determined to save her over and over again, in every person he met. He transferred the love he had for his sister Luna, to every person he met, wherever there was a need, an enormous undertaking for anyone. No "ifs, ands, or buts". Anyone on the other end of Max's ferocious will, and stamina would have to be someone very strong, able to stand up to him, love him, be his partner on different levels, without losing oneself in his revolution. We, none of us, can be all things to all people. That is reserved ONLY for GOD HIMSELF. Perhaps, Max getting cancer was an indication that we can't control everything in this life; our pride will tell us we can, even when unexpected circumstances tell us we can't. Sometimes our pride will not let us be vulnerable or submit, until we find ourselves in a state of helplessness, and our pride brings us down. Pride goes before a fall.
Helen, this confident, intelligent, beautiful woman, who could go toe-to-toe with the most intelligent, successful men in her field, whether it be her first love, Mohammed, or Akash, or Cassian, was suddenly finding herself in a state of not knowing who she was under the umbrella of the New Amsterdam Medical Director, Max. Everything about Max, and who he is as a caring person, you can't help but love him, and even fall in love with him, but there's a price for loving Max. His love can be consuming because he wants to save the world. A bit of reality fused in this message: The world already has a Saviour, Jesus Christ, but many are intent on living life with no acknowledgment to HIM. The consequences are heartbreaking because HE loves us, and wants us to come to HIM, and have a relationship with HIM, but that would require FAITH, and believing in HIM, and in HIS name; the NAME above every other name in the universe, and that beautiful name is JESUS CHRIST.

Freema plays Helen so brilliantly like a string that tugs on all our hearts! Max better becareful not to mess this one up or else all the Helen fans will come for him LOL!!
Nana's Adventures Admittedly, I am a Sharpwin shipper who has been "on Helen's case," but certainly not because she is having reservations about Max. I don't know that anyone would be unhappy or disappointed with Helen for that reason. In fact, given all that viewers know about Max, about Max and Helen's relationship, and about Max's need to shape New Amsterdam Hospital's future-if Helen did not have reservations about Max, I would be questioning her sanity. For me, the problem is the choices she has been making this season. As for vulnerability- from the moment of conception, we are all objects of vulnerability. On a purely personal level, (a) Max is no less vulnerable than Helen is, and (b) Max has to be concerned about the vulnerability of two individuals: Luna's and his own. Helen only has to be concerned about her own vulnerability, which is precisely what she appears to be focused on.
Those clips of Akash, Cassian and then Max walking away was so powerful! Thankfully Max realized his mistake and came back and is willing to stand by her and fight for her.
I actually think it’s interesting that both of those were her choices and max situation is kind of similar in that she needs to do something for herself, knows what she probably would do if max was anyone else but she’s letting him be with her in it which I dont think is natural for Helen this all in mentality bc she seems to have been alone from childhood; which tomorrow’s episode plot definitely shows, she’s so strong an independent but to what personal detriment? Such a complex character I love her
@@KnicknackCottonWolf I think it's more like she consciously or unconsciously pushes or runs away from every guy that tries to get closer to her ,Max inclusive , but in his case, unlike the other guys, he fought to stay with her going as far as following her to London. Probably as a result of the situation with her dad when she was a child and also maybe Moh'd with him dying which I mean wasn't his fault.

I disagree that Helen loves Max more than he loves her. I think because of what they have gone through they love each other passionately. I think Max loved her so much he was afraid to give in to it.
Ah. Eu não concordo Max e Helen estão apaixonados a muito tempo. Ir com ela para Londres depois ensinar a Luna a chamar de "mamis" isso tudo é prova de amor. O problema é que só amor não basta. Eles são adultos irão resolver Helen precisa resolver seus traumas e com amor e apoio. E Max tinha que priorizar sua familia pq se não iria ficar sem os dois, familia e trabalho.

I might be wrong but I have a feeling that she loves him way too much than him to her🤔
Helen said that because Max said he saw a future now in his life that he fell in love with her and how she already had a commitment as Medical Director in London. But it passed quickly after all he convinced her to fight for their love.
As for the second one I didn't understand either.
I believe that's how he hadn't resolved anything about traveling with her ending up making her give up.
