Damn! That is spot ON. You can tell the sweep of the wah is different than what Cliff originally used, but the tone itself is damn close for a random video from a random channel.
The only thing is...this is actually the wah pedal cliff used...what you hear different is maybe how the guy plays compared to cliff..wah is expression first and foremost
Back in the 90s I got real close to the tone, with a peavey t40,a Dunlop bass crybaby, into dod fx92 into a acoustic 320 or 360(gettin old lol) into peavey 1516 BW cab,was happening! Good job btw 👍
My absolute fav video of yours to date!!! Btw you figured out your stuff...way to go...i hear some clean blend tho(just today i was thinking about getting boss ls2 for that but my delay pedal broke and needs a replacement so thats first on my shopping list) am i right?
Also the sound is pretty much the same as in my latest video(and our signal chain...only i use new pedals morley dual bass wah which surprisingly has pwb sound to it and i use bass tube screamer ts9b)... "rest in peace cliff" check it out if you'd like
Hello friend, I am very flattered that you like and follow my videos despite being a hobby;) This time it was a direct signal, I did not use the ABY pedal, btw I think that with that LS2 you would do incredible things playing with the variations and options possible: D
@@ingloriousbastard0812 you are welcome! Yeah it would do great many things...however like i said unfortunately i first have to grab a new delay before i can move onto either cs3 or ls2...both are on my shopping list but not THAT necessary with my setup..but delay is..that gives a special flavour
@@marijanbarac1216 If your delay broke, I think you should replace it first, if you have the option, get a good one, a cheap one, although it is useful in the long run, it becomes annoying and limited, by the way, I saw the video that you mentioned and I was very surprised that the sound that a current Morley can resemble a vintage Tel Rey, that TS9B really pulls that gain into the bass well RIP Cliff
do you find the Epiphone eb whatever the heck to be the closest you can get to his tone in general? I know his Rick had the same neck pickup also great job. rob should listen to these LOL
In this video I am using an Aria Pro II SB, but it is all a question of dynamics and tricks, I think that to have a tone closer to rhythmic a good bass adjusted with Jazz pickups and precision, thin strings, compression and some overdrive and a eq to measure you have it, for the Master of puppets tone the Aria Pro is really indicated, and for the leading tones a warm and somewhat medium distortion and a Wah Morley you have it
i own an epiphone EB0, i think the one you are talking about, long story short it needs some pedals to get you to the clean tones (compressor and eq) from cliff but the distorted ones are complete shit with this EB bass no matter which pedal combination, for the love of god do NOT get this bass plus QC is B A D, rather get a squier jazz bass or whaterever but not the epiphone. I want to mod mine as cliffs modded ricky ( Jazz stag on bridge and Strat stag evencloser at brigde humbucking with the jazz bass single coil) hope that helps with the shitty sound this bass makes lol.
@@ingloriousbastard0812 and im sad you did that haha...i know cliff did it too in 84 and turned on that goddamn pitch shifter..but i just love this tone with delay on...gives it that fantastic space sound like he had in 86
YES YOU PRESSED THE WAH A BIT FOR THE LAST PART! Try playing that part the way Cliff does and you might just get the hang of bit Just trying to reach out to those who have the power wah boost out there to try it since I most likely won’t be able to buy one lol. Also what are the order of your pedals? Btw that power wah boost looks smaller than the usual ones I see idk why
Yeah, it's an amazing pedal, very loud and dynamic. I think that the problem in your wah must be the small foam inside that lets the light pass through, you must adjust it well so that the light passes little by little
A little secret, to have a very dirty tone like Day on the Green or Monsters of Rock, the Ts9 goes before the PWB and using the amp gain, it gets very close to that tone.
Rest in peace, Cliff. You showed the world what bass can really do & inspired several great bass players
R.I.P. Mr. Cliff Burton

hello ebay

You have a video of that?
This sound great!!!
And thanks that you like it
So basically, cliffs tone was:
TS9, Morley wah, reverb, delay in that order? Hmm, might have to try that out.
TS9,Morley,a bit of delay,a bit of reverb and amps gain, but just in the 86 tone or late 85
Minus the reverb. Signal chain should be bass into compressor into wah into TS9 into amp.

what was that intro riff you played? was that a part of Cliffs live performance ?

the 20/20 power fuzz wahs are a bit smaller than other models, just as powerful though

Where is the wah in your chain? It should be before your TS9, that'll affect the sound. Otherwise, spot on!
Edit: before, not after
Thanks friend, I put the TS9 right after the PWB, the tone and dynamics vary a lot when playing by putting it before and/or after

It's a Morley Power Wah Boost from the 70's
