- Wanted to get this video up...there will be an in depth video next week after I fish the reel. In my opinion this is a great buy from Amazon. Thanks for watching.
Zenon Reel www.amazon.com...
The video is impressive and it convinced me to buy one. I bought the 2000 SH for $230 delivered, and 145g. Thank you
Thanks for watching an comment.
@Joe_Regular_Schmoe the reel is not the same.
Lmao @ 18:33 I thought the reel was making that phone ringing noise for a second! =) Perfect timing as you are twisting the spool/drag.
Good review Randy!
Thank You for another great video. Awaiting promissed Abu Garcia Carabus extreme 662rod review:-) fingers crossed, all the best for You!
Thanks....hoping to get it done this week. Building this house is taking up a lot of my time.
Good review. I did the same as you as you and bought from a Japanese seller. I don’t need it to be an exist. What I wanted was the light weight. I built a 2.5 ounce rod, so with this reel it’s still lighter than most spinning reels by themselves.
Randy, i think there is absolutely nothing wrong with polyurethane locomotive gear. That's not a real gear as there is never any force there. It just moves the spool up and down, and it takes the same effort with or without fish. Also, polyurethane makes for a very smooth feeling - even more so than metal! Shimano doesn't use locomotive gear, but the oscillation worm they use has plastic idler gears also. In my opinion that is a good place to save weight, ESPECIALLY IN UL reels, where 1 gram is hard to cut.
Im actually curious how these reels fish - bring one of them in if u ever come to visit!
Oh - and that STELLA is something else! For a 2500 size reel it spins pretty much free..
Yeah you pick up that Stella or Exist and one knows they are special.
My " BEST BANG FOR THE BUCK" reel will always be the Shimano IX reels. 1000-2000-4000 , best dang reel Ive ever owner for the dollar amount spent. I have NEVER been sad that I owned one.
Hello Randy. I’ve had the Zenon in the 2500 size and had to put it up for sale the day I received it.
- There was notable free play in the anti-reverse. When I’d stopped winding, there would be a slight jerk in the rotor and it drove me crazy.
- The drag wasn’t smooth. The resistance from the drag would only be at the “ticks”. These ticks are at relatively slow intervals
- Hated that the bail was hard to open and close
- Didn’t like the huge cut-outs in the spool, think water would splash into the reel easily.
Other than that, I think it looks really cool and unlike any other reel. Just my 2 cents. Love your videos!! Cheers
Thanks for watching...good info. I was concerned about the cutouts on the reel also. If I was doing a lot of bank fishing I would be concerned about debris entering the reel.
Mine has the same problem with the anti- reverse!
Thank you for telling me about Amazon japan, the prices on there are awesome!!
After using the reel(2000SH), perhaps due to too much grease, I found the inertia of the gear/rotor to be more than I expected. I sincerely believe that the Stradic C-2000S at 40g more- reels much easier. I did add regular bearings to the Stradic to bring it 12+1
Nice reel. Ya, those reels you had off to the side are a little more then I would be comfortable spending. I also like JDM reels, I have a Shimano 17 Soare CI4 + 500 S. Great lightweight reel. Gear ratio is okay. So I bought Shimano 18 Cardiff CI4+ 1000SHG. Super happy with this reel. I'm new for your channel. You use VARIVAS braid on your reels? Do you add backing to make up the difference? Spools only come in 75m.
Thanks for watching....I do use Varivas PE line and I do not use backing.
Cool stuff but I can’t see myself paying much money just to panfish unless I’m being sponsored or have UA-cam channel 🤙🏾.
Daiwa spinmatic 7’6” ul
Daiwa revros 1000
Izorline 2lb
good rig
Panfish have been my passion for many years. I am not sponsored by anyone and my UA-cam revenue is maybe enough to buy a decent meal or two each month. I just love fishing with high quality gear.
That is a beautiful reel randy!!! I have never had a bad abu garcia reel.
Thanks....
Buenas tardes, podria ayudarme por favor tengo una duda la manija del reel gira hacia adelante y atrás. Gracias
Thanks for watching. No it does not.
Gracias, por la respuesta y por su video
That black rubber is the protect the reel seat of your rod.
Thanks for watching.....went back and looked at the video from Gear Wave where the ABU rep says it is for adjustment space on different rods. I have never had a rod where the reel didn't fit...and....have never had any damage done to the rods reel seat.
to corect Diawa uses metal gears thank you
Diawa uses mainly brass and or stainless. Diawa mq for the win.
Didn't you bought it already? How does it compares to Luvias air ?
Yes I have bought it. I do not own a Daiwa Airity...but the Airity is made in Japan and costs considerably more. Not really a fair comparison.
I've been eyeballing this reel for a while but decided to play safe and got the stella 22 1000 in the shallow spool. The looks of it did catch my eye but I found it hard to pay that much for an abu reel. At the price on amazon though I just might pull the trigger though! How does it compare to maybe a vanford?
In my opinion it is much better reel than the Vanford.
I have a Mitchell MX9, all magnesium in size 3000, 175 grammes and 10 bearings, titanium axe, at 130 usd. Now i will buy the same in size 2000 for 150 grammes at the same price. I have a honest question : what the zenon brings to the table for 300 USD more ? I see it has 8 grammes less but for me this does not justify the 300 USD that i have to pay more. I have an Abu Beast casting reel, and i love it, so i am not dissing ABU.
I only paid $235 for my Zenons….not sure where you’re pricing them at. Amazon has plenty at the 235 dollars with free delivery.
@@troutmagnetman in France this is the price if you want to buy them from local stores.
How has this reel held up? I have read a lot of complaints about the anti-reverse mechanism. I am considering buying one.
For me it has held up well. On my advice my nephew bought 2 of them and has caught a load of 18-20 inch trout with the reels the past few months. He is very impressed..as am I. I think it is the best reel for the money spent. As to the anti reverse...there is no anti reverse switch...it is always on. Curious as to where you are seeing reviews of this reel....thanks for watching.
I just received the 1000 model today. It does not back reel. Perhaps there was a design change?
@perrybeaubien it has none. No switch to turn off the antireverse. So it's locked all the time. That's what drag is for.
Which would you choose - Zenon or 21 Presso? They’re about the same price. I already have the MGX Theta. Looking for a second reel. Thanks!
Well you will not go wrong with either. But in my opinion the Zenon is the better reel....and it is around 40 bucks less.
@@troutmagnetman thank you sir
Good review, maybe better lighting 😊
Thanks for watching. I'm in temporary accommodations until my house is built...can't do much about the lightning until in new home.
After 9month of use, how this thing hold up ? Still smooth?
Holding up good.
Had 2 abu soron stx reels and they literally feel apart. Never buying abu again
Thanks for watching....
Sir, am I hearing your last name correctly as being Goad? My last name is also Goad and I am related to a Randy Goad, whom I only met once when I was very young. Just wondering if that might be you.
Have no clue. What is your name?
Robert. My father was also Robert, originally from Beckley, WV
