- The new Audi RS e-tron GT is more than just a Porsche Taycan in a sharp suit. It shares its platform and tech with the Porsche, but Audi is pitching it as more of a cruiser than an outright sports car... just one that happens to have supercar-shaming performance. With up to 637bhp available, it's not just the first Audi RS model to be pure electric, it's also the most powerful to ever wear the RS badge. Top Gear Magazine editor Jack Rix, is among the first to drive one and deliver his verdict. As a bonus, we also speak to tech-reviewer Marques Brownlee about his thoughts on Audi's new offering, and EVs in general. Not quite a lovely one though... he is a Tesla fan (an American lol) and he is known for reviewing mobile phones! He's great at it but, why would a Top Gear show find the need to use other sources for reviews? Shouldn't Top Gear be the main review after all?
@@nikankhamisi1175 He's just going to be doing written reviews only and he has done a few electric car reviews on his channel. I don't see myself enjoying a hybrid Ferrari review from a him though. Mostly because he's about the tech side of the cars he reviews and besides active aero and a few other bits, Ferraris aren't techy enough for his brand.

When you see his reviews on the Taycan and Tesla, you get to see why this guy is so popular. He's obviously a brilliant tech enthusiast first and foremost, and a 'car guy' second...but the reality is that being a tech enthusiast gives him a unique perspective on reviewing the new range of EVs. He is providing views that are being carefully studied by the car companies, as his thinking is like that of a lot of guys who are interested in cars but not fanatical about it.

Buttons! It's amazing how exciting such a small thing can be, but actual buttons in a new car!! The right ones too, just a few of the important functions.
If it just had two or three they might be on to something but 2 banks of generic buttons with LED labels (changing functions)? I guess they're experimenting across the VAG lineup - will get back to you in 5 yrs with a good solution.
Lol my guy friend is into the physical buttons over touch screen. When i shared him this video that's what stuck out to me the buttons

Still though, Marques is a big American UA-camr who mainly makes videos about phones and occasionally covers Electric cars and Top Gear is a British television show about cars in general.
It's just really odd to see these two worlds colliding like this. When I think of Top Gear I can't help but still see the 2007 version 😂

My Dad had a Morris Marina in that exact colour in the 1970's, think the colour was called "Limeflower" or something similar...
I just want to thank Audi for not feeling the need to scream electric with the design choices of an electric car. The passionless teslas and every other ev concepts make me sad. If this is what electric looks like, bring it on.

I'm told by my Audi dealer here in the Dallas, TX area in the US, that the REAL 0-60 time for the RS e-tron GT is 2.8 seconds, and 10.94 seconds in the quarter mile - not the 3.3s for the 0-60 advertised, and this was confirmed in a road test conducted by Matt Watson of Carwow (another youtuber). The 3.3 is really disingenuous given that the real time is significantly quicker. Audi has a penchant for underselling their 0-60 times in some sort of marketing ploy they've adopted into their corporate strategy. I think it's important to point that out.

I have drove Taycan Turbo and I agree with you. There is a limit when more power means pain, especially in electric car. 680 hp in Taycan and you can damage your pasangers if you will not tell them that your are going to accelerate. 630 hp with LC mode in this e-tron RS should be plenty. Even

Paddles toggle through regen modes. Like shifting gears for your engine braking rather than for your acceleration.
