You guys have made a very upstanding debate on all albums and what order they could be in. It's made me re-listen to them all again as I grew up with PJ when they broke through in London when I was 20. Nirvana were the big breakthrough band in London, but I went pearl jam. Very good opinions on such great albums. Enjoyed your selections.
Vs. definitely the strongest sophomore album I have ever heard from a band and the best PJ made. Followed that up with Ten, No Code and Vitalogy. Yes those are their first 4 albums. But man what a run! Special shout out to Lost Dogs! The gems on the compilation album with Yellow Ledbetter and Alone are unreal.
vs. is number one for me as well I started giving yield another listen and it moved up the list for me a few moths ago, I think I like it more than Vitalogy. enjoyed your video!
I have to go back and listen to binaural now if you think that it is better than no code! No code is one of my favorite PJ albums!! commenting before I even finish the video haha
Enjoying your videos guys. Keep going and you’ll keep growing. We only started our channel this year, so a way to go. With this one, you’ve inspired me to dig a bit deeper into PJ. - Phil
My rankings and the best song on each album 11. Lightning Bolt (Pendulum) 10. Backspacer (Unthought Known) 9. Gigaton (Who Ever Said) 8. Riot Act (I Am Mine) 7. Avocado (Inside Job) 6. No Code (Present Tense) 5. Binaural (Nothing As It Seems) 4. Vitalogy (Corduroy) 3. Yield (Do The Evolution) 2. Ten (Jeremy) 1. Vs (Dissident) Shout out to Lost Dogs (Yellow Ledbetter)
They have 5 albums I consider all time greats... just not separated enough to rank 1-5. I'd have to do a tier. Top tier in no particular order: Ten, Vs, Vitalogy, Yield, Binaural. 6. No Code, 7. Pearl Jam, 8. Riot Act, 9.Gigaton, 10. Dark Matter, 11. Lightning Bolt, 12. Backspacer. DM and LB are basically tied for me, BS is easily my least favorite.
Great video. Those first 5 albums in my opinion were all gems. Yield was very special to me but Vs. is also my favorite. Loved Dave A's drumming. They started falling off in my opinion with backspacer and the albums just continued to get worse. Listening to the first few singles off their new album doesn't get me excited at all.
I kind of agree with both of you! Your arguments are totally valid. Here is my coward list: 1) Ten/Vs (tie) 2) Vitalogy/No code (tie) 3) Binaural/Yield/Riot Act (tie) 4) The Avocado/Backspacer/ Lightning Bolt/Gigaton (tie) Now if I had a knife under my throat and had to pick an ultimate top it would be: 1) Ten 2) Vs 3) No code 4) Vitalogy 5) Binaural 6) Yield 7) Riot Act 8) The Avocado 9) Gigaton 10) Backspacer 11) Lightning Bolt That said, I would be willing to accept the chronological order as well. Not that PJ is declining over time or anything. Just that they released their absolute masterpieces first and then had enough energy and talent to still amaze us through each and every album, even though their latest stuff is more "niche". It's not so much that their lastest stuff is less good, it's just that they aged well and their latest stuff became more introspective and chill. It's less "demonstrative". Which is totally understandable. As long as each album contains 3 killer songs and 4 good ones, I'm in. And so far, they didn't disappoint. The 6 first ones in my list exceeded by far these expectations and the rest of the list achieved that goal with honor. This band still has enough potential left that I'm eager to listening to the "Dark Matter" album. The single on its own is among the best titles they released so far. On the 14th of April, I will listen to their new album in a movie theater an I expect to have a very good time. If it steals the 7th or 8th place in my top list, I'm impressed. And if it does even better, I would be amazed.
@@thekbmusicden5033 Saying this album is underrated would be an understatement 🙂. So many gems in there. I like it as much as Yield but I put it first just because it's overlooked so much. I realized I forgot to include No code in the list. I corrected that. This album is very special in terms of songs and overall mood. It's a turning point. Love it. Anyway, ranking Pearl Jam's albums is like asking a parent to rank their kids. One might do it under pressure but in the end, they know the list doesn't mean a thing :-) Take care.
I was kind of with you up until No Code. It’s a to 2 or 3 album for me. Vitalogy, No Code, Yield. Gigaton is better than Riot Act, Lightning Bolt, and Backspacer. Avocado is awesome.
Top3: Ten VS vitalogy (not in particular order) then: Avocato no code backspacer (not in particular order) all the rest:... worst: gigaton (comes then goes is a great song tough)
Ten has some the most important songs to me as a person (and to music history, I suppose), but I agree that as the years have gone on it's the production that sets Ten back for me. VS and Vitalogy -- and No Code -- just capture the sound of the band better in my opinion. Yield likewise has some great tunes, but feels like the glossiness from the first album has returned once again which sounds worse to me as time goes by.
This video needs updating I won’t forgive you for being an eagles fan but I will forgive you for the rating of my least favorite album “No Code” or in my case “No Replay” but I will definitely have to go thru this list myself
Enjoyed this video, because I love everything PJ does. But, I think you're both way off on binaural. Avocado #4 for me. Yield and No Code up there too. Tried listening to binaural again, and find it lethargic. Then played Running and Dark Matter from the upcoming release and felt energized
My album rank (yes, im controversial) 1. Avocado 2. Lost Dogs 3. Lightning bolt 4. VS 5. No Code 6. Vitalogy 7. Yeild 8. Ten 9. Binaural 10. Riot Act 11. Gigaton
cool video - Ten changed my life. but yes the first three albums are the best. I wish Dave stayed the drummer as most of us do. He was the edge.

Vs is great, but there was a sophomore album called Nevermind you might recall? Oh nevermind.
Nevermind???
Dirt??
Vitalogy, Vs, Yield (because of first 4 songs),Ten, No code is my top 5 in that order
vs. is number one for me as well I started giving yield another listen and it moved up the list for me a few moths ago, I think I like it more than Vitalogy. enjoyed your video!

I can get behind this list. I'd put No Code 4th though.
My rankings and the best song on each album
11. Lightning Bolt (Pendulum)
10. Backspacer (Unthought Known)
9. Gigaton (Who Ever Said)
8. Riot Act (I Am Mine)
7. Avocado (Inside Job)
6. No Code (Present Tense)

3. Yield (Do The Evolution)
2. Ten (Jeremy)
1. Vs (Dissident)
Shout out to Lost Dogs (Yellow Ledbetter)
Mine is damn close. Flip-flop Gigaton with Lightning Bolt and flip-flop No Code with Binural.
(Shout out to Ghost and Down)
There are people who like pineapple on pizza. It's still pizza, but you know they're wrong.
A great ranking. Binaural should get more recognition. Vitalogy could have been great if not for a couple of fillers

"We made Ten. We're not gonna make Eleven". Great way of describing Vs.
1. No Code
2. Vs.
3. Binaural
big fan of No Code here as well. That album has a unique vibe of its own.
Apparently it was not very recognised at the time.
Yield > no code

Good talk gents. Yield is in my top 3

1) Ten/Vs (tie)
2) Vitalogy/No code (tie)
3) Binaural/Yield/Riot Act (tie)

Now if I had a knife under my throat and had to pick an ultimate top it would be:
1) Ten
2) Vs
3) No code
4) Vitalogy
5) Binaural
6) Yield
7) Riot Act
8) The Avocado
9) Gigaton
10) Backspacer

Love seeing Binaural high on your list

Wow, he'd love the fact you've got that unique portrait of him.

Dark matter top 5! I’m hoping it’s that good.
Just read a review tonight. I gotta a good feeling about DM.
@@billisdopeDM makes the top 3 for me.
