great review just got my baby a few days ago........love this truck! arrma keep the good work ......i had so many tamiya's when i was a kid in the 80s ......still love love love this hobby!
14:48 Use some sticky velcro all around that opening where the spur is. It will catch a lot of the rocks, and at least stop a lot of the larger ones that could damage things.
I promised myself no more RCs. Yet I always wanted the outcasts or notorious. And I've decided if I buy another truck it would be this Outcast 4S. I can't get over how cool it looks oh, and the fact that it and wheelies. So I hope I don't buy one but I think I may if it's on sale. Thanks for the great reviews
I went back and forth between the maxx and the outcast. I ended up buying a maxx v2 and notorious 6s. the notorious is pretty much an outcast 6s. There is a big difference between how these trucks drive. They are both awesome, but each has their pros and cons. The maxx is arguably the most durable RC on the market. I ran mine into a car tire at 45mph. it stopped instantly and violently, yet nothing broke. I was astonished. It has seen countless arial backflips and massive jumps. The arrma's metal chassis is already slightly tweaked from "medium" sized jumps. I have a lot more confidence full-sending the maxx, but also have a lot of fun doing standing backflips and faster arial flips. The arrma also has far more power and can accommodate huge batteries. The maxx is FAR quieter and is smoother than the arrma. It is quieter than my 1/10 scale arrmas. The maxx has a very refined feel, especially the steering. The arrma does better in rough terrain and is overall more potent and livelier than the maxx. You can't go wrong, either way.
Nice to see the gears are finally metal, but plastic pivot balls is absurd. Plastic chassis and even plastic axles are understandable, not pivot balls.
Both of the new 4s trucks look pretty good !!! I thought I was gonna see you at RCM's first annual Bash Fest !!! Maybe the next one ? Chris might be planning another for later this year .
Smooth Throttle control over the jumps. How is it correcting itself when ya go off the side of a ramp tilted then it lands perfectly and does not want to land on its lid. Very cool. Is there a reason for having the slipper gear exposed? I dont understand that one?
It’s a little bit of driving in conjunction with how the vehicle itself reacts. I think they opened up the bottom of the case so the driveline can sit as low as possible. Don’t think they were expecting dirt to get in there since the chassis acts as the bottom “cover”.
I’m thinking of getting the Traxxas 2wd ford raptor because I think it would be fun to play with because I don’t have a short course truck or a two wheel drive and I think I can jump it and make it fast but I also want to get this outcast because it can do back flips and and bunch of jumps and I do not know what to get what is your opinion on them
That is my favourite of the two releases it just looks awsome. The blue is great looking with the wood panel. I think this will be the 4S truck to have! Looks like it handled all that bashing well. Id like to hope the durability is as good as it looks on this run for long term. I have to say the new infraction 3S looks good too. Dang it’s hard to save any money in this hobby lately 😂. For me it will be between this outcast 4S V2 and the Maxx 4S V2. Tough decision.
It’s definitely improved over the original. But, having drive shafts rub up with the shocks, the stabilizer bar hitting the heat sink and fan after really harsh jumps, and the gear house being a dirt trap, there’s still some room for improvement.
Greg I know you don't do "comparison" videos per se' but could you comment on who the buyer for this truck might be vs the similar Kraton? Who'd benefit from one vs the other?
The outcast is gonna be the better stunt truck if you want to do a bunch of wheelies and flips, the kraton is more stable if you want to drive fast(like around a track) and not have it wheelie/flip quite as much, and the maxx is somewhere down the middle
@@truerc at the time the Maxx was by far a lot more durable and the arrma 4s trucks handled better. We'll see how these new arrma 4s trucks do but the Maxx is easily one of the most durable platforms you can buy today, there's not much else that takes that much abuse without breaking
Big question I’m sure your going to get what’s your pick armma o4 or k4 or the traxxas maxx 2.0 I’d like to see a non Biased video on these trucks in a bash setting
Pretty mean truck! Kinda like a Kaiju or Hoss. What do you think? Just unboxed and drove it today. I chose the bronze. She's mean! Didn't get crazy with..just up and down the street. Beautiful body and tried not to scratch it up but,.it slid on its lid. One of my favorites . Need to construct or purchase a small ramp for low speed flipping.
If you like a more stable car but can still do tricks the Kraton is for that but if you want to be doing stunts and flips everywhere but can flip over more go for the outcast. I hoped this helped even though a year has passed I just saw this comment and wanted to say something
That dirt collecting like that and having to tear down every time, (if you want it running well) is not a good thing by any means!! Them shocks oh boy, another honest review, it is a looker for sure, howeever she is not maxx material yet😉
Really surprised that they have made the trucks so much bigger, yet still no center diff. Looks to be plenty of room for one. But then I suppose the price point(which is surprisingly quite reasonable here in the UK) would of had to go up.
I really want to buy this truck but, having to disassemble the gear mesh for cleaning out dirt and rocks getting caught in the drivetrain is a turnoff.
How do you all have these new V2 4s models when they aren’t out for another 3 weeks? I kno you get them earlier than the rest of us, but not 3 weeks early. I’d rather have seen these videos closer to actual launch date. 🤷🏻♂️
Awesome review and bash Brother 😜!!! Loved the after run follow up with the solid advice 👍. So impressed with this truck. ARRMA truly nailed it with the updates and the raw FUN factor 😍. She flips and corrects so fast, definitely keeps you focused. Great job with this my friend!!! 🍻😎💪👊👊
Thanks bud, absolutely right! Can’t wait to get back out with it once my tires show up. Can’t believe I blew one up. Going to hit a little skatepark with it. 😎
I see some people add some Gorilla tape below the case to act as a seal. Some add the fuzzy side of velcro around the base to act as a barrier. Grease might work, but the case slides and snaps into place, it may thin the grease out during that process.
Had ARRMA Notorious and Outcast 6S versions. Always after driving was service or repair needed. Yes first times was the best and wildest stunt time. But the construction has flaws so repairs will be necessary. I bought as a third car the Traxxas E-Revo and it’s way much better construction. Shocks are horizontal and can’t bend, Gears are sealed all proper put together. ARRMA connects the drive shafts so poorly that they wear out fast. The body is not as durable as the Erevo. The wheelie bar is a joke. Rips off ultrafast and or the screws just small long and thin ones pull off. I bought an aluminium wheelie bar and that’s durable but the screws don’t hold it. The servo is super poor the traxxas still holds perfect turns after nearly a year of driving. I even sent it sometimes some meters high no big damage and if then it’s so easy to acces. ARRMA tortured me with millions of screws, under chassis always some get loose and some just lost. ARRMA = Fun, but repair I hated and finally sold both. Happy sti with ERevo!
The rocks issue getting into the drive train and chewing it up is annoying. The amount of dirt collecting inside the clutch housing is a problem. That much dirt and grit piling up during a run is not a good combination. That component is going to have to be pulled after EVERY run to be cleaned. Terrible design flaw after Arma said it had been fixed and reworked.
This has been a issue in the 3s line. Dremel a small hole in the bottom of the chassis right under slipper housing, this let's all the dust & debris out. Problem solved 👍
@@ervinmedina9014….we shouldn’t have to do that. It’s a design flaw by Arma that needs to be addressed like they said it was. The fact that sand and dirt piles up in the housing also makes it susceptible to water corrosion.
@@pewterngold Yeah, the slipper housing is a deal breaker for you. The 6s line has a center diff so Arrma has this covered. I just drill a small 5mm hole underneath the spur in the chassis. Any dirt that does get inside can exit through there 👍
