In TDK, the timers on those sticky bombs were the exact length of the runtime until they exploded, and the timer on the bomb in this film was close. I have always felt like "The Dark Knight Rises" title refers to Robin as much as Batman. Bruce Wayne was batman, the dark knight. And he certainly had to "rise" from the lowest pit to fulfill his oath to gotham ans save the city. That said, in the final scenes of the movie you see Blake aka Robin has been sent by the original Batman to the bat cave. He finds it and when he steps on the platform, it literally "Rises" ... hence *The Dark Knight Rises*. because Blake/Robin will take up the mantle and become the dark knight. Gotham will have its protector...
    Bruce may be gone, but Batman will live on.

    • @jeffpc22
      @jeffpc22 2 роки тому +3

      For each of these films, the title applies particularly to the last scene of the movie as well as to the whole film in an overarching way. But in each one Nolan puts a scene at the end that hammers home the title so that the title is more of a motto than just a title. In each he shows the title of the film at this instant.
      In the Dark Knight Rises this instant is when Robin steps onto the platform in the Bat Cave and the platform lifts. Then it cuts to the title of "The Dark Knight Rises". So you are 100% correct that it applies just as much as it does to the rest of the movie in an overarching manner.
      There are so many subtleties in these films that are really so artistic. Nolan chooses not to explain them because he wants the film to mean to the people whatever they make of it. That is kind of the symbol of Batman, after all. He can be so many things to so many different people. But the most important goal is to inspire.

    • @anonymes2884
      @anonymes2884 2 роки тому +7

      Bruce also ultimately transcends his anger and grief over his parents - he "...Rises" above it - and becomes able to lead a normal life. And the Dark Knight "...Rises" from disgrace over Harvey Dent's crimes. So for sure, it certainly means more than one thing.
      Not sure about "as much" though personally. To me it's _more_ about Bruce just because it's his story and becoming whole, rising above his demons, is the culmination of his arc.

    • @jeffpc22
      @jeffpc22 2 роки тому +1

    With you finishing the Nolan's Dark Knights trilogy you could react to the amazing Tim Burton Batman films Batman 1989 and Batman Returns. Burtons depiction of Gotham is so unique and inspired the look and feel of Gotham for many years from the amazing Animated Series (even used the Danny Elfman theme from the movie) to the fantastic Batman Arkham Games (which were actually based more on the Animated series even using the same voice actors) all taken inspiration from Burton. His Gotham has this Dark Deco 1930s Dystopian City look with a mix of 1930s to 1950s fashion and modern late 1980s the movie came out in 1989. There’s also a lot of industrial areas combined with Art Deco and Gothic architecture the whole city just looks amazing. The animated series went more into the 1930s artistic but was set in the Modern Day 1990s. I would also recommend Batman: Mask of the Phantasm from 1993 a origin to the Animated Series Batman kind of like Batman Begins.
    Metropolis is the opposite has a more 1950s futuristic look but this was never depicted in the Superman movies we still have to see a true comic accurate Metropolis but the new Suicide Squad game looks to be extremely close to that look. As much as I love the Nolan Batman films the last two kind of fell flat on there renditions of Gotham compared to Batman begins. The Dark Knight is amazing but I wish the city didn’t just look like Chicago while Returns is just Gotham in the day. Overall I personally place this last in the trilogy with Begins my personal favourite.
    List if you want to get more into Batman
    Batman 1989
    Batman Returns
    Batman The Animated Series (And Stand Alone animated movies)
    Batman Arkham Trilogy of games.

      Batman the Animated Series (cartoon tv show/series) // it has the whole plot that you get in little pieces in this trilogy, though it goes more fantasy than realistic (the trilogy kept it realistic instead) with the Lazarus Pits (green lava volcanoes), enabling Raz al' Ghoul to be "truly" immortal, though it also makes you more violent and wild and strong (like the gas that created the green goblin in spiderman), this is just epic (so dark, like much in the 90s, love it), best batman cartoon tv series, and best joker (mark hamil, of luke skywalker star wars fame, VA's him), really good design of the joker, one of the 3 best jokers
      Batman Beyond (cartoon tv show/series) // it's decent-good, but it didn't last very long, it had potential, sighs, anyways, batman (bruce wayne) is now old, so a younger new person takes his place, though in one episode, bruce wayne is dying, but he goes and uses the Lazarus Pit, like Raz al' Ghoul, "rejuvanting" bruce wayne, keeping him alive, and making him young again, but violent and wild and strong...
      ---------
      Mask of the Phantasm (animated/cartoon movie) is okay, there's nothing bad about it, but nothing super great about it either, for a 90s animated/cartoon movie, it's good
      ----------
      Batman (1989) movie is a really good movie, rivals the trilogy in its own way, even though it's just a single movie, the joker is excellent, due to jack nickelson playing him, and personally, I like michael keaton as batman (I really wasn't impressed with christian bale at all as batman, probably the weakest part of the trilogy was his role/acting as batman)

And Addie, Bruce himself fixed the auto-pilot system from the bat, in the lasts scenes Lucius Fox discovers that he did it a few months before the bom incident, and thats how he survives, he probably jumped and flyed after securing the bat's direction.

    I'll admit that when I saw this opening night: I went to a showing of the entire trilogy and I was spent by the end of Dark Knight Rises. They actually got me to believe that they killed Batman.
    The Joker was originally intended to be a villain in this one, but Heath Ledger's untimely death ended any chance of that.

    After TDK, this film definitely had a lot of hype to live up to, I remember leaving the theater a bit disappointed, because it didn't quite deliver for me. As time has gone on, I've come to have more appreciation for it, but it does rank last of the three for me.

      @moonakieater2308 2 роки тому +1

      You can say that the TDK is basically a remake of Batman 1989. They have a lot of similarities between them. A top of a building fight between Batman and Joker, a showdown in the middle of the street between Batman and Joker, Joker having a meeting with all the mob heads and killing one with a "trick", and so much more. TDKR has more originality and in my opinion better.

    • @anonymes2884
      @anonymes2884 2 роки тому

      @@asdfasdf7199 Yeah, for me TDK is still the definitive live action Batman movie.
      Personally though I thought "...Begins" had fewer issues than "...Rises" - it's just tighter IMO - even though I thought TDKR ultimately fulfilled its role of rounding out the trilogy pretty well (the end especially works and makes it a genuine trilogy).

    • @brubaker4867
      @brubaker4867 2 роки тому

      @@moonakieater2308 it’s not really at all. Joker’s not on a big parade in the fight in the streets and it’s a chase scene rather than a saving people from gas scene. Also, all joker does in Batman 89 is kidnap Batman’s girlfriend and get pushed off the side of the clock tower and die. In TDK, joker actually presents a real philosophical argument and obviously doesn’t die. In fact, he also most wins by turning Dent bad. The only real similarities is that Batman is the protagonist and Joker is the antagonist.

      @@brubaker4867 I understand what you're saying, because they changed a few things it's not the same. But the themes are and it's much more similar than you think. Joker did take Batman's girl on top of a building in both movies. Joker and Batman had a showdown in the middle of a street and Batman didn't kill him in both movies. Joker and Batman had a confrontation on top of a building in both movies. And so much more Check this out then get back to me🤣🤣🤣

    It is understandable that you found Bane easier to deal with than the Joker. There is a saying in DC comics:
    "When superheroes want to scare each other, they tell super villain stories. When super villains want to scare each other, they tell Joker stories."
    And Heath Ledger is the number two best Joker ever, second only to Luke Skywalker.
