    I’m preparing for my cross country phase and I’m pretty nervous about being alone. I know I can do it but I’m really hard on myself and lack confidence. Watching your video really helped me because of your calm, confident demeanor.
    I really appreciate you filming stuff like this and your video editing is wonderful!

    You would do well to give your full attention to obtaining the skills to attain a private pilot license, which is but a license to learn, not an end in itself.

    Nice Job, Excellent radio skills. One tip I would give you on traffic patterns and landings is add 5 to 8 knots on downwind and base for added safety then nail your speed on final. Try to get as close to the runway without touching it then just hold it off without the nose getting to high, that will stop the ballooning and lead to a smooth touch down. Good luck and be safe !!

    Fantastic, every landing you walk away from or fly away from is a good landing, right? I stopped flying for nearly 30 years due to family, job, etc. but am getting ready to start up again. Have to pretty much start all over, lots of changes in airspace designation, etc. I am a little nervous, but excited at the same time.

    Never be afraid to go around. The second landing at whiteside seemed a bit low turning from base, I'd say extend your base to give you a better view if you're too low or too high. You did great though.

    Good job!! I am hoping to get my first solo done this week. I fly out of Cushing and Morris. You and I both know how hard it can be to land with a good amount of wind. I would say not to try to save a landing. Just go around because we don't get points for saving a landing. I am sure that by now you are way better at that. Again Good Job!!!

    Have my familiarization flight coming this spring. How hard is it to obtain a private pilots license? 32 years old and my wife has convinced me to go for it after years of considering

    • @reneroseso5958
      @reneroseso5958  6 місяців тому

      Sorry I'm super late to this. I hope your discovery flight went well or you're PPL by now! To answer your question, the hardest part in my experience is finding the right instructor and having the time to train/study. The frequent you fly, the quicker you learn and retain those skills. I fly and do ground school twice a week during my training, with continued reading during the week. Your progress really depends on how time and effort you can dedicate to obtain your PPL. One more factor to consider is the weather at your home airport, if you don't get VFR often, that will slow your progress. I hope this helps!

      Congrats on your solo! I’m 26. KARR to KSQI is a good route to start, you’re following along Route 30. For every checkpoint you pick, know which side will they be on either right or left or ahead of you so you know if you’re still on track. And monitor the frequencies surrounding the checkpoint and write it down on your navlog. Example, your next checkpoint is Hinckley, monitor Hinckley airport’s frequency ahead before you pass it because of their glider activity, when you pass it, monitor the next. Stay ahead of the plane. And don’t forget to fill up your fuel to full. On landings, if you don’t feel uncomfortable with your approach or you bounced, always GO AROUND! Don’t save it just like I did. Good luck!

    Congrats! I'm preparing for my solo cross country flight in the German Aquila 210; as a short person myself I have to wear cushions to being able to reach the rudder pedals and brakes. Cockpit management is a big deal, I've got limited space to place my kneeboard with my nav log and chart on my leg. I do too always end up throwing the chart on the passenger chair and losing my pens while on it :) :) right now I'm figuring out ways to have all the paperwork organised and available for writing down my check times at all time without compromising flight controls movement during the process!!

    • @reneroseso5958
      @reneroseso5958  6 місяців тому

      I'm late to this, sorry. Thanks for watching! Cockpit management is def a big deal. What worked for me is a right-sized kneeboard (on my left leg) that holds a pen on the side, and tethered so that in case I drop it, I can easily grab the string back. I always re-fold the sectional charts to only shows my route, and I have one piece of paper for ATC instructions/weather with airport diagrams. For notes like maneuver or memory helper, I tape it on my right leg if I have to. I hope you got your license! Safe skies out there. :)
